Chapter 167: Overbearing and Mighty!
"Boom--"
With a mind full of questions, Peter Quill collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Korath chased after him with a group of soldiers, abruptly halting as he quickly holstered his weapon, bowed, and said, "Master Thanos!"
Thanos, expressionless and not even glancing at him, spoke in a deep voice: "Indeed, it was a mistake to trust Ronan, this incompetent fool!"
Such an important item as the Power Orb, and they sent only these worthless minions.
If it weren't for the fact that I didn't trust them and came in person, the prize would have slipped through our fingers.
He bent down and picked up the Power Orb from Peter's hand.
"Finally, everything will begin..."
"Boom—"
An orange light suddenly illuminated the entire area, and a woman radiating energy flew swiftly, crashing into Thanos' chest and sending him tumbling several times before hitting the ground.
The Power Orb rolled away, and Thanos quickly got up, only to have a powerful energy blast fired at him.
With a punch, he dispersed the energy, and Carol Danvers, in front of him, rushed forward. She grabbed his hand and twisted it behind him, wrapping her legs tightly around his neck before violently spinning him around.
Thanos' massive body arced perfectly through the air and landed heavily on the ground, sending up a cloud of dust and debris.
In the rear, Black Dwarf saw that Thanos was at a disadvantage and prepared to step in with his massive chain blade battle axe, but Ebony Maw stopped him.
"Let him handle it."
Ebony Maw said lightly, showing great confidence in Thanos. This woman is small and weak; as long as Thanos gets serious, he'll defeat her easily.
Korath had already recognized Carol and shouted, "Traitor of the Kree! How dare you challenge Lord Thanos! Today is your day of reckoning!"
As he spoke, he waved his hand to halt the soldiers behind him and quietly retreated towards the spaceship...
Not to mention being intimidated by this woman, just contending with Thanos had already overwhelmed him.
Weakness limited his imagination. He had always known this woman was formidable, but he hadn't expected her to be this powerful.
It's better to retreat now to avoid trouble for Lord Thanos, not because I'm afraid of dying!
Thanos grabbed the legs wrapped around his neck with both hands and struggled to pry them off without success. He then forcefully threw his head back.
"Argh!"
"..."
Carol was smashed into the hard rock behind her, falling to the ground as her grip loosened.
Thanos, finally free from the restraints, stood up, discarded the damaged helmet, and delivered a powerful punch to Carol.
Two arms radiating intense light blocked the devastating punch as Carol grabbed Thanos' fist tightly. With a slight twist of her wrist, she pulled each finger outward with force.
"Ugh..."
As Carol's fingers pressed against Thanos, even he gasped heavily. But his body was incredibly strong, and despite the pain, he managed to hold on without breaking his fingers.
In fact, he still had his other hand free, but Thanos, driven by irritation, launched a fierce attack against this tenacious woman...
"Boom—"
Facing an opponent with a tougher head than his own, using a headbutt proved to be a poor strategy.
Captain Marvel remained unmoved, but Thanos felt dizzy for a moment. Carol seized this opportunity to counterattack with maximum energy, flying high and crashing Thanos down with a mighty force.
Confronted with such an unexpected situation, if Thanos had the Stone in his possession, he wouldn't have hesitated to fight back. But without it, and with his overconfidence, he had even refrained from using his most powerful weapon—the Overlord's Heavenly Blade!
Seeing Carol raise her other hand, gathering fiery energy, Thanos decided to act.
Cannon fire?
It made sense; this woman clearly had superior defense and a smaller target than Thanos, so she would be the one launching the attack.
Thanos twisted his body and performed a 180-degree roll.
"Crack—crack—"
The two fingers Carol had been gripping broke off immediately, and she was flung into the air like a kite. She was propelled hundreds of meters with a "whoosh", and the intense weightlessness caused her protective energy to flicker momentarily before reactivating.
Fortunately, the brief loss of energy was quickly restored.
Nearby, Thanos reattached his severed finger with a hard twist.
"Crack—"
The pain from reattaching the severed finger made Thanos take a deep breath.
Carol looked at Thanos, now back to his formidable self, and couldn't help but recall Thor's words.
"If you meet someone who looks like a giant purple potato in the universe, be cautious!"
The purple-skinned tyrant is truly terrifying!
