Chapter 155: Unfriendly Remarks
In a towering building in Burning Zana, the capital of Wakanda, Prince T'Challa slammed his hand on the table in frustration.
"This is war! This is a blatant war crime. A country that claims to be a beacon of democracy has aimed its nuclear weapons at an innocent nation!"
The prince's anger was understandable, and the other people in the room also appeared troubled.
If it weren't for the fact that their nation possesses the most advanced technology in the world, they would have faced a catastrophe by now.
The capital, Bernin Zana, where the majority of the population lives, would be destroyed and plunged into a nuclear winter for at least a decade!
"Your Majesty, I suggest designating those responsible for the massacre of millions of civilians as terrorist organizations and making them pay the price!"
T'Challa said with frustration.
The expressions of the other elders in the hall grew solemn.
It was true, but taking such action could likely trigger a world war.
Moreover, this approach was inconsistent with Wakanda's policy of remaining discreet and avoiding direct conflict.
"T'Challa, calm down."
The old king's voice was calm and measured.
"Using violence to counter violence is not the solution. You are not just an ordinary person; you are the future king, the Black Panther. Many things cannot be based solely on your personal feelings. Remember, as a competent ruler, you must never let anger control your emotions!"
T'Challa sat down, muttering to himself, "I knew you would never agree, so I said it to express my concern for Wakanda..."
As expected, Wakanda's approach was still to seek a diplomatic resolution.
Prince T'Challa had a nagging feeling that this was the wrong course of action, but he couldn't defy the king's orders.
Not everyone can be as resolute as Thor...
But this incident had left a mark on his heart.
"Despite the destruction of the city, the heroic deeds of the team known as the 'Avengers,' who fought off an alien invasion, will be remembered not just as a source of consolation but as a celebrated act of bravery."
At a barbecue restaurant on the street, Thor and the other Avengers were having dinner and watching the news on TV.
"It's great to know they exist. It turns out that someone has been protecting us!"
"At that time, those strange aliens surrounded us. Suddenly, a big green man appeared and flattened them with a single punch!"
A citizen excitedly described, "My God, he's green and can leap hundreds of meters into the air. He's like a giant green frog!"
A frog? Bruce Banner, who was watching the TV, looked a bit embarrassed.
The TV then showed a clip of Stark carrying a nuclear bomb.
"The aliens, seeing their defeat was inevitable, launched a nuclear bomb in a desperate attempt to take us all down with them. Thankfully, Iron Man and Thor resolved the crisis for us."
Everyone exchanged looks, finding this description quite shameless. It was indeed characteristic of a rogue nation to frame something as mundane as washing powder as a weapon of mass destruction!
"I love you, Thor!"
Thor nearly choked on his barbecue. The girl being interviewed on TV looked stunned.
Natalia couldn't resist teasing, "Looks like you're quite the heartthrob!"
Captain America: "Ditto!"
Hawkeye: "Ditto!"
"Ditto!"
Boom—
Kayla stared at Thor, covering her face.
"Why are you making this an adult topic? What's the fun in this for you, a kid?"
Natalia and the others expressed their disdain for his behavior.
Stark then muttered, "Strange, why does this girl look so familiar?"
"A supermodel you know?" Hawkeye joked.
"No, she reminds me of a biologist. Last time, I got some useful suggestions for my armor from her."
At this moment, several other interviews grabbed people's attention.
"These so-called heroes should be held accountable for the damage they caused to the city! Where did they disappear to after the battle?"
"I think it's this group of freaks with special abilities who attracted the aliens!"
Several interviewed individuals expressed varied opinions, including a congressman who boasted, "This is the worst incident ever. These so-called aliens were previously confined to novels until now..."
The Avengers fell silent, and the atmosphere grew considerably more subdued.
Thor suddenly chuckled. "It seems we are viewed as some sort of myth, as if there would be no heroes without us."
He took out his phone and made a call. "CNN Channel 1, review the footage from 14:25 to 14:34 this afternoon, you know what to do."
