Chapter 151: Give You a Nuclear Bomb!
Tens of miles away, Tony Stark was racing towards the shrinking portal at the top of New York with a nuclear bomb in tow.
His battle armor was heavily damaged and on the verge of collapse due to the excessive speed.
"Sir, I strongly advise against this," J.A.R.V.I.S. warned. "The Mark VII is overloaded, and your energy reserves are insufficient to return home!"
Ignoring the warning, Stark activated the communicator. "Thor, are you closing the portal? Wait a moment! Someone's sending a nuclear bomb; it will detonate in a minute. I need to get it to the portal!"
"Hello, Thor? Thor?"
"Boom..."
Dark clouds covered the sky over New York, with lightning enveloping the entire Manhattan area.
The Chitauri forces were nearly wiped out, and even the massive Leviathan beasts could not withstand the world-destroying thunder.
Thor, having withdrawn his hammer, muttered, "Strange, it seems someone just called my name?"
The System remained silent.
A massive area-of-effect attack eliminated most of the remaining enemies. On the ground, the pressure on Steve and the others significantly decreased.
Karla flew at low altitude, using her heat vision to eliminate the last few Chitauri soldiers.
The battle against the alien invasion was almost won!
However, it wasn't over yet. In the distance, Stark flew rapidly with the nuclear bomb strapped to his back, narrowly avoiding the outer wall of Stark Tower, heading straight for the portal that was now only a few meters wide.
"That's a nuclear bomb!"
Natalia and Hawkeye, both S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, recognized the symbol on the bomb and exclaimed in unison, "Damn, are they really abandoning New York?"
"Sir, the energy is overloading, and the armor is about to fail!"
J.A.R.V.I.S.'s warnings continued, but Stark ignored them, pouring all remaining energy into the propulsion system and making a final sprint towards the increasingly smaller portal.
"Dammit!!!"
At the last moment, the dark blue aura of his suit vanished, and Stark flew into the air.
Simultaneously, the battered armor was pushed to its limit; the sound of the suit falling apart was audible as steel plates detached, yet Stark's focus remained locked on the nuclear bomb above him.
Among the original Avengers, Thor was inherently optimistic, Natalia and Hawkeye had faced numerous life-or-death situations, the Captain was a seasoned veteran, and Banner had a history of suicidal tendencies.
By contrast, Stark, coming from a wealthy background, was presumed to fear death the most.
Steve often mocked him for his reluctance to make sacrifices. Although the scepter had influenced his mind, it reflected the true sentiments of the other Avengers.
In that moment, Stark, losing his armor and plummeting rapidly, focused solely on the nuclear bomb.
Thor sighed and said quietly, "Don't worry, I'll take care of the nuclear bomb. You can rest easy princess..."
Stark, instantly reassured, nodded and closed his eyes.
Then, realizing something was amiss, he suddenly opened his eyes. "Damn, what did you just say?"
But Thor was already flying towards the nuclear bomb in mid-air. The roaring wind and the suffocation from the high altitude made Stark lose consciousness quickly...

On a rooftop, Karla, clearing the remaining Chitauri soldiers, looked up and frowned as she saw Stark, armorless and falling from the sky. Despite her distaste for the playboy, she felt compelled to save him.
Just as she was about to take off, a green figure leapt into action.
Hulk's powerful leap, akin to a giant green frog, carried him hundreds of meters high. He caught the falling Stark and set him down gently on the ground.
In the sky, Thor held the nuclear bomb in one hand and the Tesseract in the other.
"System, locate the target..."
"Universal GPS navigation initiating, consuming 200,000 points..."
"Search complete. Target location has been marked for the host!"
A flash of light from the Tesseract revealed a space rift over a meter wide.
Thor tossed the nuclear bomb through the rift and quickly closed the portal.
Meanwhile, Corvus Glaive was throwing a fit at the Chitauri leader.
"Useless, a bunch of useless trash! Given the right time and place, you still fail, even costing us the scepter! What good are you?"
"Boom—"
With a kick, he sent the trembling Chitauri leader flying.
Although Thanos remained silent on his throne, his dark expression revealed his anger.
Terrified, the Chitauri leader hastily explained, "It's not my fault! Humans are braver and more formidable than Loki described, and Earth is far from ordinary. Opposing them is akin to seeking death!"
Thanos did not respond, merely gesturing dismissively.
The Chitauri leader fled as if granted a reprieve.
Ebony Maw, looking back at Thanos, was about to speak when a space rift suddenly appeared before him.
A metallic canister was thrown through the rift...
Accompanied by a voice they dreaded: "Thank you, old friend, for sending the Infinity Gems. I'm giving you a nuclear bomb in return!"
