Chapter 147: Hulk: Unexpectedly, I'm Back
In an instant, cold sweat dripped down Banner's forehead.
"Hey, Hulk, come out, don't embarrass me!"
Steve shouted from behind, "Banner, what's wrong? Hurry up and get angry!"
Banner managed a smile that was more painful than crying. "Uh... Hulk and I seem to be having a problem!"
Steve's expression was one of frustration.
At that moment, Chitauri soldiers surged forward, leaping and preparing to strike. A shield, flying through the air, smashed into them.
Steve quickly stepped in front of Banner, blocking him. "Dr. Banner, if you can't transform, find a safe place to hide!"
Hawkeye and Natasha moved in to help, cooperating with Steve to fend off the enemies.
Bruce Banner felt like he was losing his mind. He had been trying his best to suppress the Hulk's appearance, only trying to release him when necessary. But now, when Hulk was truly needed, Hulk refused to cooperate...
Seeing his teammates battling fiercely, Banner grew more impatient. He slapped himself repeatedly, his heart racing, his face turning green as he felt he was on the brink of losing control.
"NO!!!"
With a roar of frustration, Captain America and the others turned to see an unusual scene.
Bruce Banner, his head bowed, let out a growl of defiance and then retracted.
"Oh, damn it! You big green bastard!"
Banner seemed to have exhausted all his strength and collapsed onto the ground.
Opening his eyes, he saw several Chitauri soldiers rushing toward him.
"Dammit!"
Banner scrambled up, panicked.
The team exchanged worried glances.
"System, locate the Tesseract!"
Thor used the Phoenix Force to reduce a Leviathan to ashes while simultaneously issuing orders through the system.
"Consume 200,000 points to search for the Tesseract's location..."
A red mark appeared on Thor's mental map—New York!
New York? Besides the Ark reactor in Stark Tower, is there another strong energy source in New York?
"Not good! Host, don't forget, there's a larger Ark reactor in New York than Stark Tower!"
Thor's expression changed abruptly. "Damn it, Loki must have targeted my castle!"
Long Island, New York, one of the most prestigious areas globally, home to 8 million wealthy individuals, and a renowned luxury residential area.
Three years ago, Thor had acquired a large plot of land here. He had exchanged a blueprint from the mall and handed it over to Kingpin's engineering team.
The castle's energy supply used the most advanced Ark reactor on Earth.
Due to an incident twenty years ago involving money laundering and an affair with Stark, Stark had accepted the job despite the lucrative offer.
Moreover, Thor had been the largest shareholder in Stark Industries.
In just three years, the castle was nearly complete. Thor had almost forgotten about it.
Just as he was about to leave, his communicator rang with a number from Wakanda.
"Hey, Thor, strange enemies have appeared in the sky above Wakanda, and our forces are engaging them. These guys are inhumans; do you know where they came from?"
Thor: "..."
T'Challa's voice didn't sound urgent, suggesting Wakanda was holding its own.
Still, Thor realized this was a major crisis. He needed to locate the Tesseract first and immediately opened a portal to New York.
As Thor's figure vanished, Stark also reacted: "Loki and the Tesseract aren't here; he must be hiding in the location of another Ark reactor!"
"But without the Tesseract, how could the portal appear here?" Karla asked suspiciously.
Stark's voice was grim: "Dimensional teleportation is like a door; both sides can be opened. Loki must have opened two doors at once—one leading to the universe and the other here!"
On a street corner, Bruce Banner was leading a group of children to safety.
"Quick, go this way!"
Banner directed the war's victims, doing his best to help despite being unable to transform into Hulk.
"Boom—"
A Chitauri soldier landed in front of the fleeing crowd.
"Ahhhh..." screams filled the air. Banner was startled and hurriedly led the crowd to escape, only to be cornered by Chitauri from the other side.
Soon, Banner was trapped in a narrow alley, with a group of unarmed children behind him.
At that moment, a powerful energy surged within Bruce Banner, as if he was about to transform again!
He turned and gave the children a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, kids, everything will be alright."
Turning back toward the approaching Chitauri, he declared, "Do you want to know who I am? You'll find out soon enough!"
"Hey...!"
His figure began to swell rapidly, transforming from a frail scientist into a massive titan.
He picked up a car, leaped into the air, and hurled it at the Chitauri.
"Boom—"
Hulk grinned widely. "Unexpectedly, I'm back!"
