Chapter 130: Reunion After a Long Absence

Nick Fury: "??? When did I call you?"

His expression perfectly captured the essence of a black question mark.

After a moment of confusion, he said, "I didn't call you. I was actually wondering why you showed up out of the blue. Could it be Thor?"

Carol Danvers rolled her eyes. "Different communicators have different signals. Yours is a one-time use, and it was just a distress signal…"

Nick Fury looked a bit embarrassed. "You really treat people differently…"

He hesitated for a moment before pulling out an old mobile phone, clearly covered in dust.

Both of them stared in disbelief.

A voice interrupted the silence. "Fury, I'm back. I'll return the Tesseract to you... Hey, who is this square-faced woman?"

Nick Fury remained expressionless, while Carol's smile froze upon seeing Thor.

"Did my wife just cut her hair short and now you're letting it go?"

Thor's face also registered surprise. He hadn't seen Carol in over ten years and was momentarily thrown off.

Captain Marvel's appearance was quite striking, and her commanding presence was undeniable. She was a fierce personality who could outshine most others.

Yet, for the sake of political correctness, Thor had chosen the least flattering outfit for her: a space suit with a bizarre headpiece, which frightened children.

Otherwise, Thor's instinct would have been to call her "Aunt Square Face," and Carol might have had a major outburst.

Indeed, Carol was already furious after hearing "square face."

The system's avatar observed the pair with a touch of exasperation. Just after their reunion, they were engaged in a fierce battle, moving from the Arctic Ocean to New York. They fought all night at the manor, leaving both of them exhausted.

Thor noticed his strength had significantly improved over the years. While he previously would have struggled against Carol without the aid of his "Avatar" transformation, he now had a clear advantage.

This improvement likely stemmed from years of battling Thanos. On the other hand, Captain Marvel's constant exposure to weak aliem in the universe might have diminished her level of combat proficiency.

Despite being mocked upon her return, Captain Marvel's frustration mounted as she faced defeat.

The malfunctioning communicator and the lack of any imminent threats on Earth suggested the remaining Frost Gaints were no match for Hela.

Frustrated, Carol was about to leave, but Thor stopped her.

"Aren't you going to see your old friend? That person from back then fulfilled her promise and flew into space to find you. Thor was aware of the plot's intricacies; this was essentially a continuation of Spider-Man's story, where a mystery guest's street appearance was a twist.

However, such a significant project by the Sword Bureau, dating back to the 1990s, couldn't remain hidden from him for long.

Carol's old friend, Maria Rambeau, had founded the Sword Bureau.

Thor was unaware that in the original timeline, Maria faced considerable hardship. She struggled to reconnect with her best friend who had been missing for six years, only to face more than twenty years of separation. After her cancer was treated, her daughter was killed by Thanos' snap, and she herself died. The timeline had changed, and it was now 2010; Maria and her daughter Monica Rambeau were well and active in the Sword Bureau.

Kamar-Taj welcomed two important visitors: Thor and Carol.

It hadn't been ten years, but the magicians at Kamar-Taj had changed significantly. Some of the original batch had advanced in their studies and taken on important roles, while others had moved on to different positions.

The new magicians were momentarily taken aback by the appearance of the two visitors. Senior magicians, however, felt a twinge of unease upon seeing Thor.

Many of them recalled the aftermath of his lightning strikes...

"Why hasn't this guy stopped coming? And now he's brought someone with him."

The new arrival, a woman with a dazzling presence, was clearly not an ordinary person, potentially a powerful being herself.

Thor wasn't there to cause trouble; he had come by appointment and was set to accept an invitation from the Ancient One to become an Honorary Elder of Kamar-Taj.

Captain Marvel had insisted on accompanying Thor to experience magic. Having witnessed the spatial rift that enveloped the world fifteen years ago, she was keen to explore the wonders of magic. However, her duties with the Skrulls and the pursuit of the Kree had kept her busy.

Now that the Kree's home planet Hala had been destroyed by Odin's Bifrost, the Kree were focused on hunting the Skrulls. Carol found herself with more free time.

While her interest in magic was genuine, she also acknowledged that her character and style might not align perfectly with the mystical practices of Kamar-Taj.

Many magicians, informed by their seniors about Thor's status, were nervous.

"Please, don't make us duel with you. We delicate and weak magicians can't handle your strength…"

Lord Sorcerer Supreme, please dismiss him before we all break down!

As expected, the Ancient One soon appeared, her expression kind as she addressed Thor.

"Are you here? How long do you plan to stay in Kamar-Taj this time?"

All the magicians were left in stunned silence.
