Chapter 10 - Unlikely Alliances

Luke watched in silence as Mary Jane disappeared through the window, leaving him alone with Gwen and Felicia. His body was still weak, but he was a little more confused by the sudden changes.

He's been on a recent streak of bad luck, first he got involved in a cheating case between Jean Grey, Emma Frost and Scott Summers, then he fell unconscious testing his powers in a rash way, now three Spider-Women are in his apartment.

One is Mary Jane who has an ambiguous relationship with Peter, but she got involved with Luke in a hidden relationship.

Another, Felicia Hardy, Luke didn't know her, but she is a Spider-Woman in this world and is right now taking a shower in his bathroom.

The last one, Gwen Stacy, is the daughter of the captain of the New York Police Department and also a Spider-Woman. She approached the bed and, with a sympathetic look, tried to reassure him:

"Luke, I know this seems very stressful right now, but I promise we're not here to cause you any trouble. We're just trying to hide... and, by the looks of it, you're facing your own challenges too."

Luke looked up at Gwen. Her white and pink uniform was torn in a few cuts, and the tiredness was evident in her eyes. "Okay, can you tell me who your enemies are? How did you manage to get the three of you like this?"

Felicia, still in the bathroom, screamed over the sound of the shower: "We were almost massacred by them! That damned Talon and Firestar are relentless! Not to mention Rogue and Psylocke! If we hadn't escaped, we would be dead!"

Gwen sighed and added: "Storm is also brutally powerful, I couldn't even see what happened, I just took a hit and passed out."

Luke was shocked.

Rogue? Psylocke? Storm?! Talon and Firestar? These five are not necessarily villains in their previous life, much less villains of Spider-Women, or even Spider-Man.

"This world is too crazy, there is no way to use the advantage of knowing the plot, here everything is crazy!" Luke shouted in his thoughts.

Gwen didn't notice Luke's shock and continued: "They are the leaders of the Mutant Gang, they control Hells Kitchen and the supply of stolen cargo from all over New York."

"Mutant Gang?" Luke muttered.

At that moment, Mary Jane entered through the window, she was carrying a backpack with her clothes and some large towels.

The redhead couldn't even think of Felicia using the towel that belongs to Luke. Something that not even she herself experienced.

"Here you go, some towels and some clothes. Felicia showered yet?" Mary Jane said, taking off her Spider-Woman mask.

"I'm done, give me a towel and some clothes!" Felicia said near the door that she opened a crack and stuck her hand out of the bathroom.

Mary Jane placed a towel in Felicia's outstretched hand and also a white blouse, underwear and a black skirt.

Mary Jane handed a red blouse, underwear and a pair of jean shorts to Gwen, while Felicia closed the door and began to dry herself.

"I also brought bandages for after your shower." Mary Jane placed a few rolls of bandages on the counter. "And you? Are you better?" the redhead asked Luke.

"Yes, I am. And do you think you're involved in all this just because you're Spider-Women?" Luke answered and asked the three of them.

Felicia, now wearing the clothes Mary Jane handed her, answered dryly: "We don't think so. We're sure. And we're trying to survive while we put an end to the crimes."

"Believe me, what we're facing won't stop until people like us take them down or destroy them. So we need allies... and Luke, you can be one of them." Mary Jane looked at her partners and then at Luke.

"Him? But he's just an ordinary person, are you crazy, Mary?!" Gwen was the first to object.

For the three women, Luke is just an ordinary person and even if they knew he was a mutant, if they knew his level, they would still object. It was too dangerous.

"I'm not saying in combat, but he can help us remotely, helping us take care of our base, for example. Weren't we talking about making a base for ourselves?" Mary Jane tried to find reasons to include Luke in the group.

You need to know that not even Peter, who has an ambiguous relationship with Mary Jane, was invited by the redhead. Gwen and Felicia looked at Mary Jane and then looked at Luke, the two women know about Mary Jane and Peter's relationship, but they had never heard of Luke.

Felicia, already starting to heal with the bandages, nodded. "I believe he can take care of the base, but I disagree with him going to the front lines, I don't want to carry the weight of an innocent person dying because of me."

Gwen nodded, she took the towel and clothes handed to her by Mary Jane, and went into the bathroom to take a shower. When the sound of the shower sounded in the room, Mary Jane smiled and looked at Luke:

"Okay. Now all that's left is for you to agree."

"I'll help you. But I need to better understand what's going on." Luke took a deep breath.

Mary Jane looked at Felicia, who was bandaging the arm that Laura, the Claw, had pierced, and said: "The Mutant Gang wants control of the city. Or rather, someone is using them to do so. The Mutant Gang is being manipulated by a greater force. A new player who is trying to bring all the super-beings together for something even more sinister. We still don't know who it is, but we have some clues."

Felicia interrupted: "That's why we need time. Time to heal and time to find out who is behind all this."

Luke nodded: "Okay. Maybe we need to start with how you found out where the leaders were and why they left you alive."

Before they could continue their conversation, a loud noise echoed through the street. All eyes turned to the window, where red and blue lights began to shine outside. Sirens. Lots of sirens.

"What's going on?" Mary Jane asked, running to the window.

Outside, a fleet of police cars and tactical vans were speeding through the streets.

"Gwen, where's your police radio interceptor?" Felicia approached the bathroom door and asked.

"I heard, it seems that there was a police action in Hells Kitchen and these are the reinforcements to evacuate the action. They fought against the Mutant Gang, but the police were defeated and many officers died, now they are trying to evacuate." Gwen replied.

"It seems that this was the reason they left you alive. Now that it's over, you need to rest, it's almost dawn." Luke said.

When Gwen left the bathroom, she didn't stay much longer in the apartment. There was no reason for them to stay at Luke's house, so Gwen and Felicia left, going back to their respective houses.

As for Mary Jane, she stayed at Luke's apartment, she took a towel from Luke and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
