wyvern(Chapter 35)

mean while Selena made her way back to the gate, but not before turning around to address Adam. "Don't worry, mortal sorcerer. I will find you," she warned, but her words were met with a defiant middle finger and a mana sword at her throat, which logged into her through, which she promptly removed before entering the gate.

The X-Men arrived at Krakoa, their mutant nation, an island sanctuary teeming with diverse flora and fauna. They walked together back to a round table, each taking their seat. Emma Frost was the first to speak, turning to Selena with a teasing glint in her eye. "So, someone that age was able to make you sweat and bleed this much? Looks like I know whom I am hiring," she quipped, causing Selena to roll her eyes.

Back on Adam's boat, he could be seen hastily sketching a picture of Selena, along with notes detailing her personality, abilities, and weaknesses. His hand moved swiftly across the paper, capturing every detail he could recall. "To deal with someone who can regenerate is either to drown them or drain them of their life force, which is kinda fitting for a psionic vampire," he sighed as he closed the bestiary book, the lamplight casting shadows across the small cabin. "Why can't my days be easier?" he pondered rhetorically, leaning back for a moment before rising and settling onto the bed in a lotus position to meditate. "Well, time to go back to the grind," he thought, a determined smile gracing his lips as he delved into his meditations.

[7 days later]

In the dead of night on the empty streets of New York City, a whooshing sound cut through the silence, followed by the roar of a large creature. Between the looming buildings, a figure dashed along an alleyway, obscured by the darkness of the night. As he sprinted, his form barely visible, he reached the end of the alley but didn't slow his pace. Behind him, the same whooshing sound persisted, indicating something hurtling toward him at high speed.

Suddenly, a pair of small white wings manifested on his ankles, propelling him 16 feet into the air. He landed atop the wall at the end of the alley and leaped another 16 feet higher just as the approaching object crashed through the wall below, revealing itself to be a wyvern. The creature matched its mythical description—a western wyvern with four limbs, orange wings streaked with red, and a red body with a row of spikes along its spine. Standing at 20 feet tall, it exuded a formidable presence.

As Adam landed gracefully on the wall, blood dripping from his wounds, he wasted no time. The wyvern, with its massive wings unfurled and eyes fixated on him, let out another deafening roar. Adam's mind raced through his arsenal of spells, choosing his next move carefully. With a flick of his hand, he summoned the Mana Snake, its form more corporeal and menacing than before. The serpent, now 20 feet long and with scales as tough as steel, hissed as it coiled and prepared to strike.

The wyvern, sensing the threat, launched another stream of fire from its jaws. The Mana Snake, however, was quick and agile, dodging the flames with ease as Adam casted a Mana-Plate beneath his feet, allowing him to stand on a floating, durable platform. With the Mana-Plate supporting him, Adam leaped off the wall and onto a nearby building's rooftop, the wyvern hot on his tail.

The creature's claws scraped against the concrete as it pursued Adam, who weaved between ventilation ducts and satellite dishes, using his Float spell to jump from rooftop to rooftop. The night air whipped around him as he cast another spell, Mana-String, attaching it to a large air conditioning unit. With a sharp tug, he pulled the unit down, sending it crashing into the wyvern below.

The impact made the wyvern stumble, but it quickly recovered, its fiery eyes fixated on Adam. Adam didn't falter, launching a series of Mana Bombs from his Moon Horn, each explosion sending shockwaves through the night. The wyvern roared in pain, its scales smoking from the blasts, but it was far from defeated.

The night was alive with the sounds of battle as Adam and the wyvern clashed amidst the dimly lit streets of New York City. The creature's roars echoed off the surrounding buildings, mingling with the whooshing of its wings as it swooped and dove, trying to catch Adam off guard. Adam, bleeding from multiple wounds, remained determined, his mind sharp as he strategized his next moves.

As the wyvern lunged forward, Adam deftly dodged to the side, the wind from its massive wings brushing against his face. He conjured his Mana-Plate, a shimmering barrier of mana that materialized in front of him just in time to deflect a swipe from the wyvern's clawed talons. The impact reverberated through the alley, cracking the nearby brick walls as Adam skidded back, his boots leaving marks on the pavement.

With a quick mental command, Adam summoned his Magic-Hand, a construct twice the size of a human hand, to grasp a nearby lamppost. Using it as leverage, he swung himself around and propelled upward with his Float spell, the small wings on his ankles glowing faintly in the darkness. The wyvern, sensing its prey escaping, unleashed a stream of fire that scorched the ground below as Adam soared out of its reach.

From his elevated position, Adam surveyed the scene. The wyvern's red scales glistened in the lamplight, its orange wings beating with powerful strokes as it circled below. Adam knew he needed to keep his distance, letting his Mana-Snake do the bulk of the fighting. With a mental command, he directed the Mana-Snake, now 20 feet long and more corporeal than before, to coil and strike at the wyvern's legs.

The Mana-Snake moved with deadly precision, its scales glinting as it lunged and snapped at the wyvern's limbs. The creature, however, proved to be a formidable opponent. Its tough scales deflected most of the Mana-Snake's attacks, causing sparks to fly as mana clashed against hardened flesh. Adam, observing this, knew he needed to weaken the creature before going for the kill.

Summoning his Mana-Sword, a blade of pure mana that materialized in his hand, Adam waited for the perfect moment. As the wyvern reared back to unleash another blast of fire, Adam leaped down with a graceful flip, landing on the creature's back. The wyvern roared in fury, trying to dislodge him, but Adam held on tight, driving his Mana-Sword into its exposed underbelly.

The wyvern thrashed beneath him, its wings beating wildly as it tried to shake Adam off. Adam gritted his teeth against the force of the creature's movements, his Mana-Sword biting deep into its flesh. With a surge of spiritual force, Adam commanded the sword to twist and rend, causing the wyvern to howl in agony.

Meanwhile, the Mana-Snake continued its assault, coiling around the wyvern's legs and hindering its movements. The alleyway was now a battlefield, the ground littered with debris from the ongoing fight. Bricks shattered, lampposts toppled, and the air was thick with the smell of burning asphalt and mana.
