Medea cut through the dense crowd within Athens and made her way back to her shack. When she neared the street her home was located, she noticed smoke in the air and the smell of fire.
"No!" Medea tightened her fist and ran towards her home in anxiousness. When she arrived, her home was already burnt and was releasing smoke. Medea's eyes teared up from sadness and the smoke and she tore off a small piece of her shirt so she can enter the shack.
Inside the shack was all black and in the middle of it was a burnt body. Medea rushed to her mother's burnt body and hugged it, not caring about its condition.
"I'm sorry Mama, I-I should have listened!" Medea cried and rocked as she held her mother's body. After 15 minutes of mourning her mother's death, Medea wiped her eyes and stood up.
"I promise I'm going to make this right Mama. I promise that I will avenge you!" Medea tearfully promised her dead mother, "Orb, can you take my mother's body just like how you took me? I want to give her a proper burial but I don't have the strength to pick her up." Medea asked and her mother's body immediately disappeared.
"Thank you, Orb." Medea walked out of her burnt home and looked back for a brief moment, "Goodbye, shack." Medea said as she walked towards the center of Athens.
Medea soon arrived in the crowded city, even at nighttime. Medea's eyes scanned the crowd and she soon found her target, a blind old man. Medea smirked and immediately made her way toward him. The old man waved his cane, repeatedly tapping it against the ground. Medea got behind him and initiated her plan, she bumped into the old man and dug her hand into his pocket, taking out his wallet. Just as she was about to run, she felt a strong grip on her wrist.
"I would put that back if I were you, young lady." Medea was slightly shocked before she tried running, but to no avail, the old man's grip was terrifyingly strong.
"Last chance, return my wallet." The old man said in a commanding voice. Medea clicked her tongue and tried kicking the old man. Then, her entire world flipped and she was on her back.
"KAH!" Medea had the wind knocked out of her and the old man simply stood above her.
"I warned you. You didn't listen and you faced the consequences." The old man said as the crowd began looking at the scene. Medea gritted her teeth and placed her hand on her dagger.
"Little girl, you draw that dagger I will have no choice but to stop you." The old man said as he walked away. Medea's hand stopped, "How did he know I was putting my hand on my dagger? How does he even know I'm a girl? Isn't he supposed to be blind?!" Medea whispered to herself, and surprisingly, the old man laughed.
"There are more ways of seeing than just sight young lady." The old man said as he vanished within the crowd. Medea's eyes widened in shock, "He heard me?!" Medea whispered to herself once again.
"That old man is...special? What does he mean by there are more ways of seeing? Isn't seeing based on using your eyes in the first place?" Medea had many questions but no answers, so she decided to trail the old man. Well, she tried to. The old man literally vanished.
"How does a blind old man vanish in a crowd this big? He should be incredibly easy to spot!" Medea remarked as she hopped off the trash can she was standing on. Just as Medea was about to look for another target, a piece of cloth collided with her face.
"Get this-" Medea stopped speaking as her vision changed. Her vision changed from colorful to only being able to see grey, and one more color, red. In the world of grey, Medea saw a single red mark in her vision. Her vision of the red mark went through walls, and she could see the red mark moving.
"What the hell?" Medea was a bit fearful of her new viewpoint but quickly adapted.
"I think this is one of the abilities that Orb grants its hosts, Pinpoint," Medea remembered the flood of information, and one specific power called Pinpoint. Pinpoint allows Medea to act like a bloodhound on steroids. She can find any person in a 45-mile radius as long as she has their scent.
"So whoever that red mark is must have worn or used this cloth last." Medea followed the red mark, and once she got closer, the mark turned into the figure of a human.
"I'm pretty sure the building I'm in is well known for its junkies." Medea sighed and continued following the highlighted human. Medea walked up three flights of stairs, in a rat-infested building before she stood in front of a junkie high off his ass. Once Medea found the junkie, her vision returned to normal.
"If you made me walk all the way here, I hope you'd have some money on you." Medea checked the junkie's pockets and found 5 euros. In annoyance, Medea kicked the junkie in his face, "Useless, cunt."
"You know, little girls shouldn't have such a foul mouth." The voice of the old man resounded behind her. Medea rolled her eyes, "Are you following me old man?" Medea asked and the old man shook his head.
"We just so happened to end up at the same place, albeit for different reasons." The old man said as he drew a sword from his cane. Medea immediately drew her dagger and jumped out of the way.
"I'm not here for you, young lady," The old man chuckled, he then pointed his blade at the junkie, "I'm here for him."
The old man's words reassured Medea, but she still kept her dagger out, just in case, "So why're you here for him?" Medea asked.
The old man dug into his jacket pocket and took out a newspaper article. He threw it at Medea and she read it.
[Mother and son, Christina and Orestez Natchios shot dead after a robbery. Leaving behind a young daughter and sister, Elektra Natchios, and a mourning husband and father, Hugo Natchios of Natchios Inc.]
Medea gripped the newspaper in anger, stunning the old man.
"I'm confused about why you are so angry. From what I've gathered from our two, brief encounters, you don't seem like the type to get angry for others. So I'm stupefied." The old man said and Medea calmed herself down.
"I just lost my mother 2-3 hours ago, on top of being drowned. I can sympathize with the daughter, Elektra. She must be going through a hard time right now." Medea confessed and the old man nodded, "I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure you know who did it right?"
Medea clenched her fist in rage, "Of course, I know the bastard who killed my mother! He's going to pay for her death with his life." Medea said and the old man laughed, making her look at him with anger.
"Are you laughing at my revenge?!" Medea yelled and the old man nodded, "Yes I am. You don't have the balls to do anything you just said." The old man said, making Medea flare up in anger.
"Yes, I do! When I see that blonde-haired bastard, I'm going to rip him piece by piece!" Medea swore and the old man smirked, "If you truly have the resolve to do so, then kill this man right here." The old man pointed at the junkie.
"What?" Medea was taken aback by the old man's request, "I said, if you have the resolve to kill whoever killed your mother, then kill this man right here!" The old man grabbed Medea and pushed her in front of the junkie, "Use that dagger of yours to slit his throat." The old man said.
Medea shakily brought her dagger to the man's throat. She closed her eyes and let her dagger cut his throat open, spewing out a geyser of red onto her face. Medea tightened her grip around her dagger and turned to the old man.
"There I did it! You happy now?!" Medea's voice shook as she held back tears. The old man smiled, "Yes, Yes I am. Now that he's dead I can go collect my payment."
"Payment?" Medea asked and the old man laughed, "Why, yes. I am an assassin." The old man said as he walked down the stairs.
"Assassin huh?" Medea questioned as she looked at the moon through the broken, yellow glass.
