26 Extreme(is) Greed

Bad news : The era of assignments of quizzes and assignments have begun. This would reduce my chapter making skills from 3 to 4 per week. Sad, but I have no other choice.

P.S Gimme some more powerstones - I'm a junkie like my main character.

'Lack of human signatures', Otto thought as the HUD in his helmet perpetually updated the information. The Techno-Organic Implant he'd scammed out of Killain helped him control multiple technological contraptions he'd painstakingly created telepathically. The greater the number of machines linked to his brain, the greater the strain. Once it crossed the threshold - madness was a given.

'Of course, my brain can handle a lot more than the average person', Otto thought, opening the door with one of his tentacles and ducking through the opening, revealing the abandoned airport.

Since it was abandoned in a hurry, all he could see was chaos. The controlled, calm cadence of the airport was ruined by luggage scattered across the floor, abandoned food, and cracked shop windows with empty shelves.

KRRR!

The nuclear-powered batteries of his arms whirred to life as he began moving around the airport while his octopi machines began disabling any and all cameras in his vicinity. He did have an EMP that he personally designed to release a gigantic pulse, but he was waiting for the right moment.

'One hundred and fifty army footsoldiers, twelve armoured vehicles, two helicopters. Policemen are not a big enough factor', Otto thought to himself.

He knew that the military would be the biggest threat to him, thus he'd come up with a contingency to perfectly end them - at the very least reduce their power to such an extent that they wouldn't become a hindrance to his goals.

His tentacles brought him to the numerous glass windows that gave him a panoramic view of the entire airport. The clouds were stormy with occasional flickering lightning that implied the possibility of rain while the helicopters flew by in their designated routes.

'All warfare is based on deception.', Otto thought as the metallic plates on his body whirred to life, revealing his homely face while clicking and clanking into place, creating a highly complicated contraption in his hands. One that he called the Electro-Resonance Burst Disrupter. He would use the military helicopters against the military.

"Make the enemy's moves their own downfall", he chuckled to himself, greed flashing in his brown irises.

"Give the syringes to me", Shaw reached out his hand and Olivia immediately placed a small black pouch in his hand.

He could clearly feel three distinct cylindrical shapes in it, which made a smile grace his face.

"Made and delivered, grudgingly, by Forge", Olivia whispered, her voice a bit raspy.

"Grudgingly, huh", Shaw muttered after pulling out a syringe that seemed highly futuristic. It was specifically designed as yet another contingency in the case that he was not able to obtain Killian's full body.

The aforementioned syringe was specifically designed by a techno mutant that was, 'unwillingly hired' by the Hellfire club, to gain blood samples in a highly efficient manner. The alloy was a highly resistant substance that could withstand high pressure and temperature while the mechanisms of the syringe helped pierce through superhuman flesh with ease.

All he had to do was pierce the desired subject for 0.3 seconds for the syringe to gain a large enough sample. He didn't need to use a specific technique either - simple, powerful and efficient.

Shaw slipped the syringes back into the pouch, looking out the aeroplane window and into the cloudy night.

"Olivia, when you teleport me to the runway, you are to transport Harald into the military perimeter. I want them all dead by the time I'm done with the target. Nightcrawler, you're to teleport me out if anything unexpected happens. Are we clear?"

"Yes Sir", three unisioned voices sounded in the aeroplane, one raspy, one monotone and another tired.

'Signs of rain. All the better when fighting someone with Extremis', he thought before looking at his watch, greed gleaming in his eyes. '15 minutes till your doom, Killian.'

"How long can you hold it for", Logan whispered while hiding behind a bus in the airfield. It was a wide, open area with about four to five planes. They were quite close to the terminal and from one of the runways, as he did not want to accidentally reveal themselves to the military at the moment - they were patrolling most of the other surrounding areas.

"Half an hour - If we don't need to move", Kitty mumbled, her eyes tightly closed.

"We do have 10 more minutes", Bobby muttered, looking at his watch. "Is Shaw here yet? Did Kurt give us any more information."

"He's here. He's just not dumb enough to reveal himself, kid.", Logan whispered back, his eyes locked onto the flickering lightning in the sky. "As for Kurt...well, the Professor would inform us of any new information. Make sure to keep your earpieces on."

He slipped his hand into his back pocket and pulled out a tiny earbud-like machine before carefully placing it in his ear.

"You didn't have it all this while?!", Bobby raised his eyebrows, adjusting his own earpiece.

"My ears too sensitive to keep it in all the time", He grumbled back. "You better be ready, kid. You're the best one we've got at fucking up Shaw."

"You said the word!", Bobby exclaimed softly as though Logan had stepped on his toes.

"What word?", Logan looked at him, confused.

"T-the..errr...F-word", Bobby whispered as though he was blaspheming the very gods. "Professor told us that it was a verrrrry bad word!"

"Ah!", Logan's brow twitched. "I almost forgot you both're just outta your diapers."

"Wha-

BRRRR!

Their earpieces buzzed, cutting off the odd conversation.

"Charles?", Logan muttered, holding the earpiece.

"Kurt contacted me once more using the last of my mental barriers" Xavier's muffled voice emanated from the device.

"What did he say?"

"I'll read it out to you, verbatim. '2nd to right plane. Shaw'. You see any planes? This makes sense to you?"

"It does...", Logan growled, staring at the plane that Kurt mentioned. It was quite large, and it's tail end had a dash of red paint, but the most prominent detail was that three of its windows were open.

He looked back at Bobby and the concentrating Kitty. "We move when I say so - the moment the terrorist's plane is as big as a baseball in the sky"

Bobby opened his mouth, his eyes betraying his doubt, "Aren't our perspectives gonna be diff-

"Ah, shut up, Bobby", Kitty grumbled.

'Well, hasn't this turned out nothing like what I expected', Peter thought as he blended into a dark corner - out of the incredibly powerful lights of the airport and the military, his 9-foot form, surprisingly flexible.

'Is Extremis worth revealing myself?', he thought and a nictitating membrane flicked across his eyes. 'Yes, yes it is. So many more applications than just getting hot.'

He hid in the corner of the airport terminal, a few seconds from the runway at his speed, while close to a bus that he found incredibly suspicious. His enhanced hearing had detected extremely minute sounds of footsteps that had led him to the abandoned vehicle a hundred metres from him. He knew it was the same people that he'd detected in the military perimeter, but he didn't snoop around at the chance that they would spot him.

He sighed to himself, 'Just which meta-humans would be interested in the Extremis Serum?'

Mild irritation sprung up in his head as he reminded himself that this was an alternate but it dissipated. Irritation got him nowhere - he had to use the information he had in the best possible way, regardless of the outcome. The fact that he'd tried his best should be comfort enough.

'But is that truly enough?', he thought to himself as it began to lightly drizzle, his body almost groaning in pleasure as the water slid down his armour. He wished for security in this crazy world. Security on a planet that was the centre of the plot of one of the most convoluted stories ever. It'd gotten so bad, that they'd claimed that a Celestial, a being that predated the formation of the very first multiverse, a child of the first Firmament died on this blue planet, making it and its residents the main characters of the plot of Marvel.

'I need to be a fucking God if I need complete security. Nah, I need to be beyond that. Didn't the Beyonders kill the entire multiverse as an experiment?', he thought to himself, morosely. 'I don't think my best is enough. I need to do more.'

His reptilian slits narrowed as his enhanced vision spotted a small periodically flickering dot among the clouds.

'I need to break my limits', he chanted to himself as the dot became bigger and bigger until it was relatively the size of a baseball.

{I need to beat Eternity itself...}, he growled as all hell broke loose.

BING! BING! BING!

His danger sense went off as it pointed to the position where three invisible pulses emanated from. He unconsciously looked up to find the giant helicopters falling out of the sky, their pilots screaming in terror at their EMP procedures not working.

SHINK!

"FUCK YOU SHAW!", a roar emanated from near him and his head snapped to the bus to find a fully suited Wolverine charging at an aeroplane with his adamantium claws extended out with two kids running after him chiding his use of a curse word.

POOF!

Two figures, a large imposing man and a short, white-haired woman, seemed to swirl out of a shadow in the middle of the runway, while Killian's plane was getting closer and closer. The woman melted back into the shadow, leaving the large man with his arms spread out, as though he was committing suicide in the most grandiose method a human could think of.
