Settling In

' I wonder who the students this year are. I know the hellions exist and the new mutants as well, but I don't know who amongst them are still at the school. guess I'll find out momentarily.'

Asura thought as he and the others walked through the hall.

'Scott, we need to talk now.'

Emma said through here telepathic link with scott

' Fine.'

scott said back

" Logan, Emma and I have something we need to discuss can you introduce them to the other students, while I get their rooms ready?"

Scott asked

" Yeah alright."

logan spoke up.

" Let's go you two."

Logan said gesturing towards a room down the hall.

' I never heard much about the hellions. This should be a good learning experience.'

asura thought as they walked down the hall.

' Hm? Who's that?'

Asura wondered as young woman left the room in tears.

" Sofia Wait!"

A young man's voice called out

' Sofia it is. I wonder why she was crying

asura thought.

" We're not FINISHED yet, Keller!"

A young woman yelled.

" You just picked the WORST time to mess with me, little girl."

The young man now known as Keller yelled

" Are we interrupting something?"

Logan asked as he, Laura, and Asura all walked in surprising the students in the room.

' Whoa, who is that guy he towers over logan, hell he's bigger than even santo. And what's with the tan skin and those markings. Wait is that a sword behind him? It's huge! What is he?'

The young woman with metalic skin wondered.

" This is Laura, my sister. She's a genetic clone created from my DNA and... You know what? It doesn't matter. The bottom line is, she has my claws and yes, she could kill you if she wanted. So, don't make her want to."

Logan said introducing Laura to the kids.

" And this big guy over here doesn't have a real name, but people called him Asura. He just beat me and Laura in a two on one fight without drawing his sword."

Logan said shocking everyone in the room.

' What!? He beat Logan, the clone I don't care for, but to beat someone as experienced as logan and the clone at the same time with just his fists. What kind of monster is he?'

Keller asked

" So just assume that he can kill you too. Consider yourselves introduced."

Logan said before walking away

" Oh, and by the way, my money is on Nori kicking yer ass, Julian."

Logan said taunting the boy as he left the room.

" Let it go Nori. He's not worth it."

The dark-skinned man said

" Can't I just kill just a little?"

The young woman with blue hair and gauntlets now known as Nori said.

" Come on guys, I've got a better way to blow off steam."

The dark-skinned man said gesturing for his friends to follow him.

" I'll see you later tough guy."

Nori said as she followed the others.

" Looking forward to it"

Julian said much to the anooyance of asura.

" You're looking forward to fighting a woman? That doesn't make you sound very manly at all you know. In fact, it makes you sound very pathetic."

Asura said to Julian getting under the boy's skin.

" Oh, yeah!? How about I flatten you then?"

Julian yelled floating up as a green energy surrounded his body.

" You are more than welcome to try."

Asura said gesturing at the boy in the universal sign for bring it on.

" I'll destroy you punk!"

Julian yelled

" Julian that's enough!"

The metallic woman yelled

" He started it cess!"

Julian stated trying to defend himself

" No, he didn't you did by threatening Nori."

The young woman said as she got up to leave.

" Where are you going, Cess?"

Julian asked

" Julian... I love you, but it's time for us to GROW UP."

Cessily said before leaving with the others. Julian and the Rockman right behind her.

" What are you looking at, clone?"

Julian yelled before leaving.

" That's not her name. I suggest you apologize."

Asura said as he grabbed the man by his shoulder

" Let him go."

The man made of rock said as he stepped up to asura.

" He owes Laura an apology, the moment he does I'll let him go peacefully."

Asura said

" And If I don't?"

Julian said as he and the man of rock both narrowed their eyes at asura and glare at him.

" Then I get violent."

Asura said bearing down on Julian's shoulder.

" Let him go. He isn't worth it."

Laura spoke up and said

" Very well"

Asura said letting go of the man

" But a word of warning I have very little patience as it is. You don't want to make me angry Julian."

Asura said warning the boy.

" Whatever, you two deserve each other. Freaks!"

Julian said as he and his friend left after the others.

The two new students stood in the doorway for a few minutes in silence, watching the others leave.

" Why did you do that?"

Laura asked

" Do what?"

asura asked back to the young woman.

" Why did you defend me? We aren't friends. Just minutes ago, I was trying to kill you, so why defend me?"

Laura asked. Confused as to why this man she just met would get so angry over her.

" We are the same you and I. I can see it in your eyes. That feeling of regret, of pain, of death. Though we have only just met, I learned more about you in our brief battle than I ever could through words. Battle is all I've ever known since I was born. I could feel the same sensation that chains my heart from your fists."

Asura said while staring into the womans emerald, green eyes.

' His eyes! They are just like mine. The smell of death on him is stronger than Logan. Just what has he endured?"

Laura wondered as she stared back at the man.

" We are comrades now, and comrades defend each other."

Asura said

" What do you say we follow them?"

Asura asked as he gestured to the group of students outside. His question getting a nod from Laura.

" Alright, let's go."

Asura said as he and Laura followed the group.

SLAM!

" Even I have my limits. Absolutely not! It took time. But I've finally pierced X-23's mental shields. Death Is all she knows! She's assassinated HUNDREDS without remorse. She even killed her own mother. And asura radiates nothing, but destruction. The fact he can keep me out of his head entirely is a problem. How can we know if we can trust him?"

Emma yelled at scott.

" One, logan vouches for Laura. Two, asura has done nothing to suggest he means us harm. We already agreed that as long as he doesn't bring danger to the other students he would be allowed to stay here."

Scott answered the woman back.

" That doesn't help your case scott! Asura is too much of an unknown and with everything he's done recently I don't think logan should even be around kids."

Emma retorted trying to convince the man to get rid of them.

" Logan is an X-MAN, Emma. He's saved both our lives time and time again. He vouches for her. Just like Professor Xavier vouched for you. That's good enough for me."

Scott said reminding the woman of her own dark and evil past.

" Scott, the children have ENOUGH dangers facing them outside the walls of this school. The last thing we need to do is bring more INSIDE."

Emma argued

" Emma, I stood by you when you let Danielle go and I'm willing to let you try this new training system, but.."

Scott was saying before Emma cut him off.

" Scott--"

Emma tried to object.

" Emma, That's enough! X-23 Stays END of discussion."

Scott said as he left the room leaving Emma to her thoughts.

" They came down here."

Laura said as she led asura to the other students. when suddenly the scene around them changed, their clothing changing with them.

" What the hell is this?"

Asura asked confused at the sudden change of his clothes

' I don't remember anything like this. I regret not reading more of the X-men. I would have known how much of a dick Julian is.'

asura thought.

" This is pointless. I'm leaving."

Jay said in annoyance.

" Oh Keller, you are so toast."

Nori yelled at Julian.

" JAY! Come back! We're outnumbered!"

the others yelled.

" They can take my place. That's what you guys want right? More violence."

Jay said pointing asura and Laura as he left.

" Jay..."

Sooraya said trying to stop the boy from leaving

" Let him go. He doesn't want to be here. There's no point in pushing him to do something he doesn't want to."

Asura said speaking up for the boy.

" Asura is right guys."

The dark-skinned man said.

" Uh. Laura? Asura? you guys wanna play?"

Cessily asked

" I don't know. What do you think Laura?"

Asura asked Laura

" Okay."

Laura answered

" I guess we're in then."

Asura said

" Okay, but she doesn't get to be wolverine every time."

Julian said

Laura walked up to Julian and looked him in his eyes.

" Down girl."

Julian said.

Laura while still staring the boy in the eyes popped her claws and pointed them at his crotch. Threatening to sever his manhood.

" Ouch."

The rockman Known as santo said

" Didn't they clone you a sense of Humor?"

Julian asked.

" What was that?"

Asura asked while glaring at the boy.

" Nothing."

Julian said turning around and walking away.

Suddenly the room changed once again. This time the room was swarmed by a ton of imp and bat like demons.

" Mission 240. INFERNO."

The dark-skinned man said.

" Oh hell."

Nori said

" Julian watch out!"

Cessily yelled to Julian as a creature tried to attack him from behind. Laura took the initiative and saved Julian from the attack snapping the creatures neck in the process.

" HEY! back off claws. I don't need anyone to rescue me."

Julian said not noticing another creature behind him getting ready to attack. This time asura stepped in and punched the creatures head off its body.

" Hey, I don't need your help either jackass."

Julian said to asura.

' I don't need to worry about that loser, but this does seem like fun. Its been a while since I've killed something.'

Asura thought to himself

The group looked on in awe as asura and Laura tore through the creatures with ease. Piggybacking off each other's attacks.

Asura and Laura continued killing the creatures until the dark-skinned man shut the simulator down.

" The weird girl's looking at us again."

Santo said

" Go! Shoo."

Julian said treating Laura like a dog.

" That's it."

Asura said.

' I'm putting this punk in his place now!' Asura thought.

" Hey! What are you doing?'

Julian asked as asura picked him up by the back of his neck.

" I warned you before that my patience is thin. And yet you keep treating her like a dog. I think it's time someone put you in your place."

Asura said glaring at the man in his hand

" Let him go!"

Santo yelled as he punched asura in the stomach. But to his and everyone else's surprise the moment his fist landed against asuras stomach it cracked.

" Ah!"

Santo yelled grabbing hand and backing away from asura.

Asura wasted no time and threw Julian into santo knocking the big man made of rocks over.

" What is he? It felt like punching steel."

Santo said before looking up in terror at the man looming over him and Julian.

" Tell me, do you still want to continue this fight?"

Asura asked glaring dangers at the two men. The air in the room turned cold, the others noticing the dark aura radiating off of the man. The sheer power in his calm voice shook the two students on the ground.

" Well?"

Asura said before feeling a hand pull on his arm. Asura jerked around swiftly and noticed that the person tugging on him was Laura.

" Let's go. It's fine. It isn't worth it.

Laura said

" Fine."

Asura said.

Asura left the two students to themselves and went to leave with Laura, but not before Flexing his power one last time. With no trouble at all, Asura placed his hand on the side of the caverns wall and exerted enough pressure to shake the cave around them. With one last glare at the Julian, he and Laura left.

' Why does she keep stopping me? He needs to learn his place or else he's only going to get himself and his teammates killed. I gotta ask.'

" Laura? I want to ask you something."

Asura said.

' Did I do something wrong?'

Laura windered

" What is it?"

" Why do you keep saving Julian?"

Asura asked

" Because they would make you leave if you hurt him."

Laura stated

' Is that why she keeps saving him?'

" You don't want me to get kicked out?"

" No."

" Why?"

" Because we are comrades now."

Laura said shocking asura.

'Hm, is that it. Way to throw my words right back at me?'

Asura thought with a smirk on his face.

" Yes, that's right we are."

asura said before putting his arm on the woman's shoulder. Laura leaned into his chest as they walked back to the school.

Once the two reached the building Scott came and guided them to their rooms.

" Here we are Asura. We have a few male dorms open, so we put you in a single. I hope you're okay with that."

Scott said

" It is fine, I'm used to sleeping on the ground, so this works perfectly."

asura said as he put his sword and cloak down on the floor of his new room. A single bed and tv where all that was in the room.

" I guess this is it for me tonight."

Asura said to Laura as she hung her head.

" Do not be sad. You know where to finds me if you need me."

asura said placing both of his strong hands on the woman's shoulders. Asura then moved one of his hands down to Laura's chin and lifter her face until her eyes met his.

" My door will always be open for you."

Asura said as he stared into the woman's eyes.

" Alright, I think it's time I showed Laura to her room."

Scott said hinting that it was time to move on.

" Thank you for letting me stay scott."

Asura said, thanking the man.

" No problem."

Scott said as he gestured for Laura to follow him.

" Goodnight."

Laura said as she followed scott.

" Yes, goodnight."

asura said as he waved goodbye to Laura.

'Hm!?'

Asura thought as he felt a presence watching over him and Laura.

' Emma, she doesn't trust us. I might not know much, but I do know that woman is more trouble than she's worth. I guess I'm on guard duty tonight.'

Asura thought to himself.

Later.

' There it is again.'

Asura thought as he felt Emma's presence.

' What is that woman doing? Wait a minute! It's coming from Laura's room.'

Asura thought as burst out of his room and rushed through the halls of the institute.

' Her room should be up ahead.'

Asura thought and as he rounded the corner, he saw Laura on her knees in the middle of the hallway in tears.

Emma who had been using her powers to torment the girl froze in fear as she saw the beast of a man round the corner, an expression of pure rage on his face. His red eyes now glowing white with no sign of his iris anywhere. Emma cut her telepathic abilities and turned into her diamond form as Asura put his foot into her stomach, launching the woman down the hall and away from Laura.

" Laura! It's alright. none of it was real."

Asura said as he wrapped his arms around the woman. Laura wrapped her arms around him in response and cried into the man's chest.

' My body is numb, even in my diamond form he completely overpowered me.'

Emma said with shock written all over her face. Cracks appearing right in the center of here stomach.

" Do you know what you've done?"

Emma asked as she struggled to her feet returning to her normal form.

" What I've done? What about what you've done? Why were you torturing her?"

Asura yelled with venom in his voice. The sheer arrogance of the woman angering him more and more.

" Because that thing is nothing more than a weapon. A cold-blooded killing machine who knows nothing but death and murder. You're both a threat to every life within this school. But that's all about to change. Because one way or another, you two are leaving."

Emma said as she left. The remarks she made driving asura further and further to his boiling point.

" It's okay Laura. I'm here. Let's get you somewhere you can rest."

Asura said as he carried the woman back to his room.

' Emma took things too far. No one deserves to be tortured like that. Laura is one of the strongest women in marvel. It isn't easy to make this girl cry. I'm pretty sure I know what it was too.'

Asura thought as he walked towards his room.

' Why? Why did he defend me again? What does he want from me?'

Laura wondered as Asura carried her in his arms.

' His heart is beating rapidly. Does he want to use my body, or is he just that angry? But why would he go against Emma for me. One word to scott and she can have him kicked out. Would he risk that for me? Why?'

Laura asked herself.

The two walked in silence until they reached asura's room. Once inside Asura gently placed Laura down on the bed.

" You can stay here tonight, Laura. I won't let her get near you again."

Asura said as he tucked the woman in.

" I'll be outside if you need me just call."

Asura said as he turned but was stopped by Laura's hand grabbing his.

" Why do you keep protecting me?"

Laura asked. A simple yet so complex question.

" I hate those who lord themselves over others as if they are gods. I grew up with people worshipping me and my abilities. I hated it so damn much. I Pray to no god Laura, and I won't be prayed to either."

Asura said sitting on the edge of the bed.

Laura stared at the man in front of her in awe. Such powerful and humble words coming from a man with so much power.

' How can someone so powerful yet so Humble exist.'

Laura wondered

" I care about you Laura and I won't let them hurt you."

Asura said staring the woman directly in her eyes.

' He's being serious. Why? Why would he go so far for me? Even we have both lived hard lives, how can he just accept me so easily?'

Laura wondered

" It's late you should get some rest."

Asura said as he went to leave the room. Once again however, he was stopped by Laura's hand.

" Hm? Is something wrong?"

Asura asked

" Will you stay?"

Laura asked

" Stay where?"

Asura asked confused on what the woman meant.

" The bed is big enough for the both of us."

' Oh, I see. She doesn't want to be left alone. I don't remember ever seeing Laura like this. I mean she still looks shook up from earlier. Is this the bad ass wolverine I read about?'

" Is that what you want?"

Asura asked to which Laura replied with a shake of her head.

" Very well."

Asura said as he climbed into bed with Laura. Laura moved over closer to the wall, allowing asura room to climb into the bed.

Once asura was in bed, he wrapped his arms around Laura and pulled her close to his body. Laura in response snuggled into the man's arms.

' For someone so dangerous she really is so soft.'

Asura thought to himself.

It took a while for Laura to fall back asleep. The memories of what Emma had done to her still played in her mind. Asura pulled woman closer to her and rubbed her back letting her know that he was right there with her. Soon after calming down Laura finally went to sleep.

' Looks like she's finally out. That's good. Now I think I should join her in slumber.'

Asura thought before closing his eyes and joining the woman in slumber.
