Chapter 10
After successfully handling the matter on Lockford Island, Tang Tian brought Alfred Ashford to New York City. It was now the year 1943, and Magneto and his mother were about to reach the concentration camp.
Professor X and Mystique would also appear soon. Tang Tian's intelligence department in Umbrella Corporation had already found their whereabouts. Wesker had been sent to Germany to search for Magneto in the concentration camp. Tang Tian decided to wait and see, considering the option of sending Mystique to Umbrella Corporation for training. After all, her genes that allowed her to easily transform into a spy were excellent. The Sentinel robots in the future had extracted her genes, so acquiring Mystique was crucial for the plot of the X-Men a dozen years later, particularly for the first battle.
In the wealthy Chester district of New York City, the future Professor X, Charles Francis Xavier, resided there. It was a classical English-style mansion, surrounded by lush trees and verdant lawns. A lingering melody filled the air around this villa, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.
Charles had spent his childhood there. After discovering that he wasn't an ordinary person and had the ability to read memories and even manipulate minds, he knew he was special. However, he didn't believe he was the only one with such abilities. But during several tests of his powers, he frightened others. This forced Charles to conceal his abilities, fearing that he would be seen as a freak.
Interestingly, Americans treated people born with special abilities with disdain and suppression, but they idolized Captain America, who was created through scientific means. Nobody dislikes extraordinary power, just as soldiers love weapons. But because they couldn't possess such power themselves, feelings of envy, jealousy, and greed arose. Discrimination against mutants was actually born out of a desire for extraordinary power that couldn't be obtained.
Charles greatly admired Captain America, who was invincible on the battlefield. Sometimes, the kind-hearted Charles wished that he and others with special abilities like him could be accepted and serve the public, just like Captain America. It was because of this childhood aspiration that Charles embarked on the path of harmonious coexistence between humans and mutants, unlike Magneto, who wanted mutants to become rulers. One path was the domineering conquest of the world, while the other was the peaceful integration with humanity. These two paths gave rise to two immensely powerful mutants, Professor X and Magneto.
On a dark and windy night, as the clock struck midnight, Charles suddenly felt that something was amiss in his house. He opened his eyes and got up, using his telepathic abilities to sense the strange occurrences around him. Realizing that something was wrong in the kitchen, Charles grabbed a baseball bat from the corner of his room and tightly held it, feeling the weight of the bat. His mind settled slightly, and he soon arrived at the suspicious kitchen corridor. Charles cautiously descended the stairs, hearing the clattering sounds coming from the kitchen.
With a tense mood, Charles entered the kitchen and saw his mother standing in front of the refrigerator in the dimly lit room. He quickly hid the baseball bat behind his back and questioned, "Mom, what are you doing? I thought you were a burglar."
"Well, I didn't expect to startle you. I just wanted to get something to eat. Go back to bed," the little version of Mystique disguised as Charles's mother replied with a smile. However, Charles wasn't foolish; he sensed that something was off, so he didn't move. The little Mystique became anxious because she had intended to deceive Charles and then proceed to eat in the kitchen.
"What's wron
g? Is there something else?" the little Mystique urged.
Charles remained silent because the biggest flaw of the little Mystique was that she had transformed into Charles's mother, who had never gone to the kitchen herself and certainly never been so gentle.
"I'll make you a cup of hot chocolate," the little Mystique continued to deceive Charles, unaware that she had already been exposed.
"Who are you really? My mother would never be this gentle, and she never goes to the kitchen. Now tell me who you are," Charles coldly stared at the person in front of him, who looked exactly like his mother. From the moment he noticed her, Charles knew that she was an impostor.
Charles's icy voice indeed startled the little Mystique. Seeing that her disguise was exposed, she reverted to her true form. The elegant middle-aged woman from moments ago transformed into a young girl with reddish-brown hair and blue skin.
"Aren't you afraid of me?" Mystique asked, not displaying fear of being discovered by her target. This reaction was understandable since there were no monsters like the mid-stage Hulk from Marvel. Mystique, currently the only monster, was naturally frightening, except for the one monster, the Red Devil, with spatial abilities.
"Do you know something? I've always believed that my power is not the most special, and I think we are the same kind of people. Charles Francis Xavier, Raven," Charles said as he looked at Mystique in her true form. He didn't show anger, but instead, smiled and reached out his hand. The two introduced themselves simultaneously.
"Are you hungry? We have plenty of delicious food here, help yourself. In fact, you don't need to steal anymore; you can live like a normal person," Charles said with a smile. The little Mystique also smiled. The rise of mutants had officially begun.
Meanwhile, in the Umbrella Corporation's underground research facility in New York City.
"Well, that was quite touching. But for the sake of mutant gene research, you might be separated for more than a decade," Tang Tian said expressionlessly as he watched the scene transition to the Red Queen. He mumbled to himself.
"I wonder how things are going on the other side. I wonder who's more formidable between Wesker and Black King Shao," Tang Tian pondered, thinking about Wesker's mission in Germany.
At the same time, in the Nazi concentration camps for Jews, the gloomy sky mirrored the mood of the people. Nazi soldiers separated the Jews and led them into the camps. Once inside, the fate of the Jews was sealed, and death seemed to be their only release.
As Erik Lensherr and his mother were separated by the Nazi soldiers, Erik didn't show fear as he watched the steel gate close. Instead, he made a sudden dash towards it. Surprisingly, the Nazi soldiers didn't shoot him, perhaps displaying some humanity. However, three strong soldiers managed to restrain him and prepare to take him elsewhere. Enraged, Erik unleashed a powerful magnetic force that instantly distorted the steel gate, realizing the severity of the situation. A soldier quickly knocked Erik unconscious. The commotion in the concentration camp came to an end, and the remaining soldiers looked at the harmless unconscious young boy with lingering fear.
Upon learning the reason behind the disturbance in the concentration camp, Sebastian Shaw, a mutant and the camp's commander, understood that another mutant like him had appeared. According to his original plan, he intended to groom the mutant to become his deputy and help mutants become rulers of the world. Therefore, he began his own plan by bringing the unconscious Erik and his mother before him.
Suddenly, an Umbrella Corporation helicopter bearing down its emblem landed in the Jewish concentration camp. A person descended from beneath the aircraft using a cable. While still thirty meters in the air, the person's feet struck the cement ground, causing it to crack like a spiderweb. Hearing the sound of the helicopter, the Nazi soldiers hurriedly emerged, but their relief was evident when they saw the emblem of the Umbrella Corporation. The Nazi soldiers were aware that Umbrella's German branch provided significant loans and military supplies to Hitler, which prevented him from suffering major failures. Therefore, the Germans knew not to provoke Umbrella, regardless of who they encountered.
Wesker, dressed in a black trench coat and sunglasses, coldly gazed at the gate of the concentration camp. After being fused with the progenitor virus for a long time, Wesker was finally ready for battle. Regardless of success or failure in this mission, Tang Tian would let him take control of a subsidiary company. For Wesker, it was his first real battle and a moment of ascension.
