A million dollars

"SERIOUSLY?!"

Aspen shouted in fury. Startling the woman a bit in surprise.

"Lower your voice!" Vera warned. Eyes flickering in annoyance.

"How am I supposed to when your plan is to stalk Ezra Kingston like a creep?!" The boy grumbled.

Making the woman roll her eyes in annoyance. "What else did you expect? Of course, I only have a way to follow him"

Vera stated, with unbothered face.

"Even if it is the only way, can't we be normal? I mean look at us sitting in the cafe for an hour! Especially you, you are literally pretending to read newspaper with sunglasses on while it's upside down. How are you gonna get his approval if you are going to be this foolish?!"

Aspen complained. Pointing out the young woman who was sitting across him at the table. "Jerk, you should have told me earlier"

Vera glared and turned the upside down newspaper into right position.

"You are the one who is stupid, little boy. Can't you see how I spent my money just to know his schedule for today?"

Vera questioned, proudly.

"How much did you use then?" Aspen queried. "A thousand dollars" the woman answered.

Making the boy frown in disbelief. "You could have asked me to do that so you won't have to waste money" Aspen stated.

Perplexing the woman.

"Even I messed up my sleep schedule just to get contact of one of the maids from his house. How the heck are you gonna do without spending money?"

Vera asked, furrowing her brows in confusion.

Silence covered the table. No response came up from the boy. As if he just spoke out something he should not.

"He is here. Act normal"

Aspen declared, in low tone. It caught the woman's attention fully. She turned over her shoulder. Not even bothered to acknowledge how the boy changed topic.

Looking through her sunglasses to take a peek at the man.

With a long dark blue blazer coat and hands in the pockets, Ezra Kingston walked into the cafe.

Two men followed from left and right like guards. One held the briefcase while another glanced around the area.

Ezra's black hair was slicked back. And a snake tattoo on neck could be seen.

'I didn't know he had tattoos'

Vera frowned. It seemed the night in club was too dark to see his tattoos.

"You are looking at him obviously"

Aspen voiced, pulling the woman back to reality. She quickly faced to front.

Pretending to read the newspaper while Aspen rolled his eyes and held the cup near to his lips.

'Please make him accept my proposal'

Vera squeezed her eyes and prayed. Hoping for the man to approve her proffer.

Based on the information, Ezra Kingston would always come here to buy the cake which his mother cherishes.

He's mama's boy. Only know to care about his mother and his nephew.

Also not everyone had seen how Ezra Kingston looked like. So he moved around in town normally.

Vera just happened to know how Ezra Kingston looked like since her ex-boyfriend showed the picture to her before.

"Alright, you stay here for a while"

Vera spoke and put down the newspaper back onto the table. Straightening her white colored tee and retro jeans.

"Come back alive. I don't have any money for your funeral" Aspen reminded.

Causing the woman to glare at him in exasperation. "Shut up" she hissed.

Vera walked straight up to the counter with her sunglasses on.

"Umm, can I get black coffee?"

She broke in. Catching the three men attention fully. "Please wait in line, Miss" the girl at the counter begged.

"Oh well, I am in hurry right now" Vera grumbled. Making the girl smile through the annoyance.

Ezra's cold gaze fell onto the woman who just interrupted shamelessly.

The white tee and retro jeans made everyone can't guess what her body figure is like.

He felt familiar with her somehow even though she was wearing sunglasses.

"Please wait in line, Miss" the girl begged again. "Well, what can I do?" Vera let out a sigh.

Turning around to leave but her head AcCiDeNtAlLy bumped into the solid chest of a man. Causing the two men to act up.

One of the two men stepped forward.

Ready to push off the woman. Ezra Kingston did not react at all. Just observing her with a dull expression.

"Holy! I am so sorry!" Vera backed up and stared up at the man.

"Oh my! We meet again!" She voiced along with a smile. The moment the two men from the side furrowed their brows.

Ezra did not respond. Peering down at the woman who was beaming.

"I bet the fate is hinting something"

Vera chuckled and took off her glasses, only to gaze into the man's eyes.

However, not even a different expression happened on Ezra's face. His eyes were cold as always.

'Shit, why isn't he saying anything?'

Vera clenched her jaw and put on an artificial smile. 'Say something!' she shouted in mind.

"Bring the cake." Ezra commanded and walked out of the cafe. Leaving the woman in pool of disbelief.

With her fists balling up, she cursed at the man; "Did he fucking ignore me?!"

Vera gritted her teeth and stepped back to the table.

Getting welcomed with a laughter from the boy. "I BeT tHe FaTe Is HiNtInG sOmEtHiNg"

Aspen mocked.

Irritating the woman. "Shut up. We need to hurry" Vera declared. Perplexing the boy a bit. "For what reason?"

"I can't give up easily. I have to make him accept my offer"

Vera stated and grabbed her purse. Rushing out of the cafe while Aspen followed from behind in disbelief.

She really was hardworking and liked to chase the unfeasible things.

As soon as they arrived to outside, Vera looked around. Searching for the car where Ezra Kingston was.

"There he is"

Without thinking twice, she stepped near to the grey colored Rolls Royce Ghost car while Aspen waited from distance.

"How can I help you?" The man in black suit who was waiting outside the car, asked.

"Please move aside from my way. That's how you will help me" Vera smiled.

Attempting to approach.

"Please stop. Who are you?" The man questioned, politely.

"I want to talk with Mister Ezra Kingston" Vera stated, truthfully.

"Please tell me who you are first, Miss" the man extended his arm. Stopping the woman from stepping near to back seat.

"Vera Charlene. Got it? Now move out of the way. I am in hurry to talk with him"

"Please wait for a while. I need to ask if you have an appointment or not" the man ceased her again.

"Are you asking for brawl?"

Vera's right brow rose. Fearlessly staring up into the man's eyes.

The sight of the woman trying her best to meet him entertained Ezra somehow.

He remembered her so well. The weird little girl who claimed to love money and would like to be his wife even though it's fake.

Why was she still following him?

Didn't she find him terrifying?

Couldn't she see stepping into the field where danger break out almost everyday is perilous?

Ezra's hand reached near to the door. The sight of car window rolling down captured the woman's attention.

Causing her lips to form into a gratified smile. "Hello!" She greeted.

Making the man in front of her turned around in hurry, only to see his Boss beckoning him to let the woman come near.

Vera quickly stepped near to the car window. Meeting with a cold gaze of the man.

"Are you sober yet?"

Ezra queried. Earning a nod back from the woman. "Didn't I say I was being serious?"

Vera raised her right brow, with an alluring smirk.

The man did not reply. Peering at her only in tranquility.

"I truly want money. Think about it. You won't have to worry about feelings. Since you required a woman who would not fall in love with you, I am certain you will like my offer. I will remain in place of your fake wife and you have to pay me only for that"

Vera detailed. Praying silently in mind for him to accept.

"How much do you want?" Ezra asked. Delighting the woman wholly so that her eyes sparkled in joy.

It literally meant he accepted her proposal! Her wish had become fulfilled! 'Just wait and see. I will torture you, Zane Kingston'

"A million dollars"

Vera stated without hesitating. Revealing she was a sucker for money.

With her hands clasping on the back, she bent down to meet the man's gaze.

Aspen furrowed his brows at the sight of the woman finally able to talk with Ezra Kingston. But the way she bowed down annoyed him.

How the heck could she bend like that so that a man in black suit even stared at her ass, obviously?!

"Deal. Give me your phone number and bank account"

Ezra spoke. Hand rising into the air to signal the man to step near.

"Great!"

Vera took out the phone from her jeans pocket. Straightening her back to turn around. She gave her phone number and bank account to the man in black suit.

Knowing Ezra Kingston was not a type to save her information in his phone.

"It is your turn to tell me the prerequisites to be your wife"

Vera faced back to Ezra. Still smiling at him. "Come meet me at this cafe tomorrow. We will talk about it"

Ezra stated. Earning a nod from the woman. "Okie Dokie! See you tomorrow!"

Vera waved her hand.

Walking away from the car in delighted mood. Ezra gazed her until she disappeared from his sight.

She literally did not bother to acknowledge the danger she would be meeting in future.

Not to mention how she was aware of who he was from the start and still required to be in fake marriage with him.

"I did it!" Vera shouted in bliss.

With arms parted, she hugged Aspen who was rolling his eyes. "Happy now?"

He queried as the woman broke the embrace. "Yes yes! I got a million dollars!" Vera happily declared.

Showing off her white straight teeth. "I will treat you a meal. Let's go"

Vera dragged the boy. Linking her arm with his while Aspen rolled his eyes.

"I can't believe you are actually doing this shit" Aspen stated. Walking side by side with the woman.

"Quit whining"

Vera scolded. "I want to have barbecue" Aspen voiced. Causing the woman to roll her eyes.

"Yea yea whatever you want" Vera shrugged. Heading to the restaurant. "By the way, would you like to get some food for your family as well?"

The woman queried as the boy shook his head in disapproval.

Making Vera furrowed her brows. He was somehow weird. Whenever she asked if his family was doing alright, he would give her silent treatment.

As if he got no family to talk about.

"Well, if you are fine with it" Vera shrugged the matter off.

Not forcing the boy to speak out loud since she knew what it felt like to have family issues.
