A Child For Bargaining Chip

Chapter 2: A Child For Bargaining Chip

As Kiara walked out of the hospital, she held her stomach and wondered why the baby had to be inside her.

'I wish it could have parents who could take care of it and let it grow healthily,' she thought sadly.

The reason Enzo wanted revenge on her was because of her mother.

Her father never talked about her mother's death. She only found out when she was ten, hearing her stepmother make sarcastic comments about how Kiara's birth mother and a rich man had a car accident in the mountains and both died.

That rich man was Enzo's father.

Her mother was seen as a shameful mistress who had ruined Enzo's parents' marriage.

Kiara's father, fueled by his anger toward her mother's affair, openly accepted the other woman into their home, pretending Kiara's mother never existed.

He wouldn't even look at Kiara as if she reminded him of her mother's betrayal.

Kiara felt like an orphan, completely alone in the world.

After coming back from the hospital, she ate lunch made by the servants before falling asleep until evening.

When Kiara woke up, she was surprised to see it was already 8:30 PM. She quickly rushed downstairs.

Enzo had come back while she was asleep. He sat on the couch in the living room, looking relaxed yet intimidating, his posture casual.

Suddenly, Kiara thought about trying to please him to make it easier to talk about the baby.

She made a cup of tea and took it to him. "You've been working hard, honey. Have some tea to relax!"

Enzo looked up at her. "Do you have something to tell me?"

This man had a strange way of understanding her, almost like he could read her mind just by looking at her.

Kiara nervously bit her lip and sat next to him, cautiously asking, "I was thinking… Should we have a baby? It might make our home happier."

A smug smile formed on Enzo's lips. "Do you really think you're good enough to have my child?"

"What if I get pregnant by accident?" Kiara continued to bite her lip, unable to meet his eyes.

"Get rid of it right away," the man replied, showing no mercy.

A few moments later, his intense gaze focused on her again. "Are you pregnant?"

Startled, Kiara quickly shook her head. "No… I was just curious because… it gets lonely in this big house."

Enzo seemed to believe her, knowing she wouldn't dare to have his child. And even if she did, she knew what she had to do.

He put aside some papers and got up, getting a bottle of whiskey from the cabinet. Pouring half a glass, he handed it to her. "Drink up."

Kiara panicked and waved her hands. "I don't drink."

"You disappointed me yesterday," he insisted firmly, pushing the glass towards her. "You'll regret it if you disappoint me again."

Kiara gently placed the cup on the table after taking two sips, signaling that she had enough.

But the man's eyes narrowed instantly, his gaze heavy on her.

"Do you want me to feed you?" he asked.

Kiara's eyes widened slightly. He'd done it before. She obediently picked up the wine glass and took small sips, even though it burned her throat.

After four sips, she coughed lightly.

"Finish it," the man demanded hoarsely, showing no concern for her.

"I don't want to drink anymore," Kiara shook her head. She couldn't handle another sip.

However, the man seemed interested as he stood up and pulled her close. He took a sip of wine and then held her face gently to make her drink.

That night was another sleepless one for her.

Early the next morning, Kiara had to rush to the hospital again when she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen.

It was the same doctor as yesterday. This time, he looked at her seriously. "Did you forget what I told you yesterday? What could be more important than your baby? Your condition is dangerous."

"Doctor, how's the baby?"

"There's some bleeding, but the baby is okay for now. You need to be more careful."

As Kiara left the doctor's office, she felt confused and lost. She wandered around the hospital until a nurse called out to her, asking, "Is it your turn next?"

"What?"

"The surgery!"

"What surgery?"

"The cesarean section."

Kiara backed away in fear. "I'm not having surgery. It's not for me."

As she stepped into the elevator, she noticed a couple holding a three-month-old baby. The adorable child smiled at her, capturing Kiara's heart like an angel.

She instinctively touched her abdomen. 'I'm sure my baby would be this cute too if it came into this world.'

The doctor's warning echoed in her mind like an alarm. If Enzo continued to be intimate with her tonight, there was a high chance Kiara would lose the baby.

Distraught, Kiara returned home. But before she could enter the living room, she felt a sudden wave of dizziness and collapsed at the villa's doorstep.

The bag containing the ultrasound report slipped from Kiara's hand and fell to the ground by her feet.

In the evening, a black sports car slowly pulled up outside the iron gate. Enzo had returned.

His car was parked next to the entrance, and when he saw the woman on the ground, a look of shock crossed his face. He quickly opened the door and stepped out.

As he walked toward the woman who had fainted, his attention was momentarily caught by a hospital plastic bag nearby.

After he picked up the medical records and ultrasound report from inside the bag, he frowned. Kiara's behavior and questions about having a child in the past two days troubled him.

"Fuck, she shouldn't be pregnant! She's been taking her pills!" Enzo cursed inwardly.

"Is she trying to manipulate me by having a child?" His expression darkened at the idea.

"This woman dares to use my child as a bargaining chip. Unforgivable!"

Kiara slowly opened her eyes, regaining consciousness. As she sat up, her eyes widened in shock and panic when she saw Enzo's chilling gaze.

'Why is Enzo back so soon?'

Her heart sank further when she saw the report he was holding.

Despite her desperate urge to escape, Enzo stood before her, his voice cold as he asked, "Where do you think you're going?"

Kiara had always been terrified of this man. Now unable to run away, she clutched her lower abdomen in despair and fear.

Enzo took a step closer, his gaze scanning her pale, sweat-soaked face like a sharp blade before he looked at her smooth belly.

For a few seconds, he stared in that direction.

During those moments, Kiara's breath seemed to stop. She lowered her head, feeling guilty, unable to meet his eyes.

The arrival of the child wasn't her choice. It was a sudden gift from the universe. In truth, she was more panicked and scared than anyone else.

"When did you get pregnant?" he asked, his expression unreadable.

"I… I only found out two days ago," Kiara murmured.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Enzo's eyes glinted with a dark intensity.

"I…"

"Scared that I would want you to get rid of it?" Enzo mocked, his voice growing even colder. "Did you think I would let your child live?"
