"How could you say that?!" Aiden asked, astonished.
He paced back and forth in his room. For the first time in his life, this huge bedroom suddenly felt so constrictive and strangely tiny.
"Oh, quiet down, darling," Catherine said with a huff. She went to her son's bed and sat herself down, watching as Aiden walked around like an animal stuck in a tiny zoo enclosure. "I don't want your father overhearing this."
"You didn't seem so worried when you were canoodling down in the living room just now!" Aiden whisper-yelled. He continued, "You definitely may know him better than I do, but that's not saying a lot! How long have you even known him? How much have you even interacted with him before things turned this way?"
