MARRY ME! If you can…

Crystal Pembroke is a twenty-four-year-old daughter of Ryan and Aubrey Pembroke, one of the top five richest politicians in the country. Despite being brought up in luxury, Crystal doesn't quite have it all. Her older sister, Ashely, was kidnapped during her one-year birthday party long before Crystal was born. In fear of losing another child to his political enemies, Ryan Pembroke hides Crystal's existence from the world, forcing her to be homeschooled and robbing her of a normal life. Nevertheless, Crystal remains determined to remotely build a name for her fashion house with the help of her personal maid and best friend, Karen. Everything seems to be going well for Crystal until her father informs her that he is shipping her off to a mansion of total strangers for political allegiance. Being the strong-willed girl that she is, Crystal strikes an agreement with her father: "One month!" If she doesn't fall in love with this supposed suitor, she will finally be free from the arranged marriage and, most importantly, free to travel and make a name for herself outside the four walls of the Pembroke mansion. Knowing Crystal, it won't be easy for the poor suitor to win her over or keep up with her classic shenanigans.

We are not sharing a room!

With the engagement ceremony now over, Crystal walks inside the Kellington's mansion after she had said goodnight to Karen.

She was exhausted from having to wear a fake smile all night long, as well as, having to engage pleasantries with what felt like a hundred persons, who kept congratulating her for landing the most sort after bachelor.

"As if," Crystal thinks to herself, scoffing a little.

Although she was tired, she was determined to meet up with Euince. She had seen her leaving the hall a little earlier than her and wanted to talk to her about sorting out her bedroom predicament, because there was no way in hell she was going to share a room with Orion.

"Mrs.Kellington!" Crystal calls out, a little louder than she had intended, out of breath.

"My Goodness! Is there a fire nearby? Why do you look like you have been running?" Eunice asks, taking a napkin from her purse and starts dabbing all the sweat from Crystal's face.

"Something like that, I wanted to talk to you about the sleeping arrangements between Orion and me. Mr. Kellington said something about us having to share a room?" Crystal stalls.

"Oh yes, you actually need to. It will help you both bond since you'd be getting married in a week or two." Euince replies.

"In about a month," Crystal corrects. Didn't her father tell them that she needed a month? She hoped she wouldn't have to go through another unexpected invitation to her own wedding within the next week.

"However long it may take, you're both getting married very soon. So you have to stay together and possibly start… you know?.." Eunice hints suggestively.

"No, no I don't know." Crystal deadpans, shivering in disgust. Not that again! She didn't expect much from Richard but she had put her faith in Euince to not spit out such rubbish like her husband.

"Look sweetheart, I understand that this is all new territory and you'd need time to adjust but this is outside my hands, you have to share a room together." Eunice says dismissively, pats her shoulders in a comforting manner and walks away.

"See that she gets everything she needs." Crystal hears Eunice say to one of the maids right before she takes a turn and goes out of sight.

Sighing in defeat, Crystal walks towards the direction of the room which she originally thought was hers but now she was well aware it was Orion's too.

Just as she was about to push it open, the memory of Orion kissing the blonde girl flashes through her mind, making her shiver in disgust for the second time that evening.

She placed a gentle precautionary knock on the door so she wouldn't get a replay of that morning but got no reply.

Tired of waiting, she pushes the door halfway open, peeps in to see if there was anything out of the ordinary, seeing nothing, she opens it fully and walks inside.

Thank God he wasn't here, she could finally free herself from her dress and go to sleep in peace. Karen had told her that all her clothes had been sent into the Kellington's house and had been organized in the walk-in closet she shared with Orion, so she wouldn't have to go too far to find clothes to change into.

Just as she was about to open up a door her intution had told her led to the walk-in closet, Orion walks out of it, literally dripping.

Crystal's heart thumped as she catches a glimpse of Orion emerging from the closet.

A pair of sweatpants hung lazily on his hips while a blue shirt clung to his damp, toned chest, with more than a few teasingly undone buttons. He had a small face towel hung lazily on his neck, drawing too much of her attention to his Adam's apple.

The droplets of water traced a mesmerizing path down his tousled hair, and she couldn't help but be drawn to the effortless allure he emitted.

Despite her dislike for him, Crystal felt a jumble of different feelings—obviously she resented him but she also found herself oddly drawn to him and incapable of looking elsewhere.

Trying to snap out of it, she shoots him an intense glare to redirect her emotions to something other than how dashing he looked.

"It's just the first day Crystal Pembroke, get a grip!!" She scolds herself, internally.

She convinced herself that it wasn't because she found Orion Kellington attractive but because she hadn't ever walked in on a man who was fresh from the shower and that she would have reacted the exact way to anyone else.

"Yes! That was probably why," She concludes, still shooting daggers at him.

"I didn't expect to see you here, what happened to you rather dying than being with me?" Orion asks in a taunting manner, drying his hair mid-talk.

"I stand by that, which is why you need to leave, I'm tired and I need to sleep." She says as a matter of fact, fully recovered.

"Are you sure you want me to leave? It didn't seem like that a few minute ago." Orion says knowingly, with a cocky smirk now in sight.

She knew it was only a matter of time before he reminded her that she had been gawking at him, couldn't he have acted like he hadn't noticed, like a proper gentleman?

"I don't know what you're talking about." She lies easily. "And I don't care. Get out," She commands, doing a perfect job of hiding her embarrassment.

"Why do you want me to leave? Are you sacred that spending time with me will only make it harder for you to leave in a month? He asks accusingly.

"How do you know about that?" Crystal asks in shock. There was one thing she was sure of, Orion Kellington was a manipulative business man that could go to any lengths to get what he wanted so it wasn't in her best interest for him to know her plan.

"You'll come to realize that there is nothing I do not know about Miss. Pembroke." He says, while almost mocking her.

"I don't know how you found out but it doesn't change the fact that I am leaving and I will never marry you. Now, get out."

""Stop trying to make me leave." You should be more focused on us fulfilling our responsibilities as man and woman. I am sure my father mentioned it earlier, or didn't he?" He questions with no care in the world.

"You're sick! A sick pervert, that's what you are. I will be damned if I let you touch so much as a strand of my hair." Crystal hisses in disgust and storms away, promising herself that she would never set foot into that room again.

To think she had thought he couldn't possibly get any worse. Was he also in agreement with the plan of them making a baby solely to seal his place as president? The more she got to know him, the stronger her dislike for him grew.

She decides to go to Karen's room instead to spend the night, but as she continued to receive voicemail, she started considering other options. Clearly, Karen must be asleep already.

She had no idea where Karen's room was situated either, so she couldn't go and find her. As she kept walking away from Orion's room, she made a mental note to request that Karen's things be moved to a room close to hers."

Still in thought, Crystal suddenly feels a hand grasp her arms firmly yet gently. Forcing her to turn and face their direction.

"Let go of me." Crystal warns, staring straight into Orion's eyes.

"Come back to the room," he starts to say with an expression she couldn't read.

"Why? So I can fulfill my marital responsibilities?" She questions sarcastically, while trying to free herself from his grasp.

"I won't touch you, you have my word." He says in a low tone, releasing his hold on her.

"And why should I trust you?" She says, rhetorically.

"I waited twenty-one years to be with you. I can wait a couple days." He says staring intensely into her eyes.

The sincerity in his brown eyes catches Crystal off guard, as though they were pleading with her to believe him, like the thought of her thinking the worse of him was not something he could bear.

She didn't know what exactly Orion Kellington was doing to her but she found herself letting him lead her back into the bedroom she had just sworn she wasn't ever going to step foot in with her eyes lingering a little longer than it should, on his shirt, which buttons were now completely undone, revealing his obvious gym-built physique.

Hello everyone, I'd like to ask for your patience as I haven't been able to upload recently. I resumed school just over a month ago and immediately had a pile of schoolwork to manage because I'm in my final year. Juggling both school and uploads has been challenging.

Fortunately, I'll be finishing for the Christmas break next week. I plan to utilize this break to write several chapters and make up for lost time, aiming for possibly two chapters a day.

Also, please remember to leave a comment to indicate if you've been following the story from the beginning. I have a gift for you all."
