THE GREEN FLAMES OF THE UNDERWORLD

Knowing nothing but zilch next to the matters of the Underworld, Aiden asked Nathalia to make things clear for himself.

"He was referring to the total obliteration of the soul. It was the forceful method of dealing with those uncooperative ghosts."

"What would happen to her soul then?"

Aiden still decided to ask away although he already had an idea of what could possibly happen after.

"It means that the grim reaper would summon the green flames from the deepest part of the Underworld. Once her soul bathed with those flames, it would turn her into nothing but ashes and she will never be reincarnated again."

Green Flames were not like any other flames.

It was capable of hurting even Demigods and Gods alike.

To date, this was the only known thing that could hurt an immortal like them and this flame was specially created in the deepest part of the Underworld to stand guard on some unknown entity.

Of what specific entity it was, no one was sure.

In fact, even the Queen of Darkness, Nathalia, herself was not privy what lies beyond the scorching green flames at the deepest part of the Underworld.

It had been there even before her rule and her father Aidoneous, the previous Lord of Darkness did not tell her what exactly the green flames were meant for.

She was told nothing in particular about the flame, aside from the fact that she must always have to keep the flame burning at all times.

To which Nathalia never paid any much of heed.

Because after all, the green flames were supposed to burn by itself for all eternity, to begin with.

That was why she could not see the point of making it her business of keeping an eye of the flame.

"Huh?! That was way too harsh of a punishment. She was also a victim here! If there was someone who deserved not to be given a second life, that would be her murder. She was killed and she died an untimely death so it was only normal for a ghost, like her to have a hard time on parting in this world yet."

Aiden said in protest.

He could not help but feel sorry for Samara and he felt that it was indeed unfair on her part to be treated in that way.

"Deads and the livings were not supposed to coexist with one another. They were bound to exist in separate worlds and they were not meant to be together."

"But can't you see how tragic their love was??? Don't your heart ached just by seeing them??? Because I honestly do!"

Seeing the high school guy crying in anguish who could not see his lover despite the other party standing before him.

And at the same time watching as to how the high school girl ghost stood helpless next to her lover but could not reach out to confront the other party made Aiden quite emotional.

It was too heartbreaking for him to witness.

That was why he was trying to make Nathalai see and understand where they were coming from.

But from the current looks of it, it seemed that Nathalia had already made up her mind.

And it seemed that there was no amount of talking that could actually make her changed her mind.

Aiden turned at Jace with hopes of talking sense with him instead but the other party was clearly on the opposing side as well.

"Wishful thinking like staying with their loves ones even after their deaths would only bring chaos among the creatures of the dark and that was what we were trying to avoid as much as possible."

Jace said in a tone full of righteousness as if he was a hundred percent certain that he had the higher ground on this argument
