King Hamon stared at his older sister for what felt like a long time. He opened his mouth to say something but shut them again as if he had changed his mind. He had no idea that his older sister had already managed to see through him.
She was the only one capable of doing that after all.
"You should take care whatever," was what he finally said. "You can't keep relying on Nicien. He is now a grown man with a wife." He made a deliberate pause and added, "If you were to rely on someone, you can rely on me. I care about you much more than Nicien does."
Hard as it was, the Supreme Princess still managed to form a weak smile on her lips. "Really? That's a relief then."
"Do you not believe in what I say?" King Hamon asked, sounding a bit disappointed.
Selova Vamieres shook her head, slowly and gently. "I do, but I won't compare," she said in a low voice. "Because I love you both equally."
