Traitor

Alexander headed back to his chambers to meet up with his wife. He had done his own part. It's left for Beowulf to decide if he wanted to engage in war. War had never been an option but if this concerns his wife's safety, he would do anything and everything within his power to take Beowulf down. He had been patient long enough, this had to stop!!

The thought of engaging in war gave him thrill but he had to think about his wife. Where would she stay? Could he trust her with anyone? Her safety was his upmost priority and he needed to think of that before any other thing.

He finally reached his chambers and took a deep breathe before stepping in.

He stepped in but his wife wasn't there anymore. Suddenly, he felt his heart skip a beat. 'No, she's perfectly fine, you're thinking too much!' He scolded himself. His eyes scanned for her in every corner of his room but she wasn't there. Where did she go? Couldn't she wait for him? It's not even up to an hour he left and she's not in his chambers anymore? Where did she possibly go to?

His heart was thudding hard against his chest, he could almost hear the sound of his loud heartbeat. He went into the bathroom but she wasn't there either.

He stormed out of the room and the guards felt that menacing aura he exuded and followed him. He was acting as though, there was a war breakout and they needed to prepare fast.

One of the guards standing outside Alexander's Chambers asked the prince. "Is everything alright your highness?" The guard asked and Alexander paused. He knew this was the guard assigned to keep guard outside his chambers. He would have known if Helena stepped out right?

"Did the princess step out of my chambers?" Alexander asked in a cold ice voice that the guard had to subconsciously step back, for fear that Alexander might lose control and just cut off his head if he said something he didn't like.

"I....I didn't see her coming out of your chambers your highness." The guard said with a lowered head.

"Then where's she?" He asked.

"I'm n-not sure your highness." The guard said and with the way he was trembling, Alexander knew he had nothing to do with it. He had high senses of knowing what people were thinking just by their reaction but strangely, his wife's an exception, but now he didn't have time to think about the pros and cons when he couldn't find his wife.

"Have all the guards and soldiers search everywhere in the palace for the princess." Alexander coldly instructed but the guard creased his brows, and it took him a lot of courage to speak to the prince.

"Y-your highness, if we send all the guards to search for her, there won't be anyone left to guard the castle." The guard explained and Alexander nodded lightly, he did not think of that possibility as he was not thinking straight, all he thought of at that time was to find his wife.

"Have all the guards from your district stay at the castle, you can join with the search. Inform all other soldiers to join the search."

"And inform my men to meet up with me." He added and left to Elen's chambers.

"Yes your highness."

...

Alexander was already in Elen's chambers but she still wasn't there. Where did she run off to? She didn't come out of his chambers then why can't they find her? Did something bad happen to her? Had someone captured her? But if all of these were possible, the guards would have noticed right?

He searched everywhere in the room, every nook and cranny but he didn't even feel a sign that she was here. It didn't even feel like anyone had been here. He even went as far as flipping the table in the chamber but everything was the same result.

He stormed out of the room and that was when he noticed Lago, Lucas and Finn heading towards him. He had sent Robert and Amadeus earlier so they were not in the palace. Thinking of that, they should be here by now, why aren't they back yet? Something's not right somewhere. What's going on?

"Your highness?" Finn said and Alexander slightly nodded.

"The princess is missing." He told them and their eyes went wide as saucers.

"H-how did it happen? We need to find her!" Lago exclaimed but Alexander didn't reply, his mind was far off from earth and just when they were about to call out to him he spoke.

"Beowulf....I'll kill him." He mumbled and hastily strode towards his quarters. Finn tried to stop him but Alexander couldn't hear a single thing being said to him.

"If he goes there, it would result to a fight and we can't let that happen. Not when the princess is still missing." Finn said.

"I wonder why Robert and Amadeus are yet to return. Don't you think this is odd?" Lago said.

"Yes, you're right. The princess is missing and Robert and Amadeus' also missing. They're supposed to have returned with Bruce by now. This is too much of a coincidence isn't it?" Finn commented and they nodded.

"Well, they can rescue themselves, it's not as if they'll die. The person who needs our help now is the princess. We need to find her else his highness would kill everyone!" Lucas panicked.

"I want you to keep an eye on his highness. No matter what happens, do NOT let him fight!" Finn said and Lucas nodded and left. He secretly trailed behind the prince. He knew that their prince was aware of someone following him but he didn't pay attention to it, his mind was only focused on one thing and it was to kill. 'Sigh....this is a tough job! I'm really going to stop his highness from fighting! I'd just get killed at first attempt!' He said in his head.

Finn and Lago had ordered soldiers to be stationed outside the palace and even as far as the villages. Some of the soldiers were stationed to stay close to the borders. Whoever that captured her would not be foolish as to leave her in the palace walls, not even the kingdom's territory, that's why they needed to find her as soon as possible because it would be difficult if that person was out of the kingdom.

Finn and Lago played their part, they instructed many of the best soldiers in the kingdom to stay close to the borders. Finn and Lago still stayed in the palace incase their prince went berserk. They needed to stay guard incase the crown prince would start a fight. Those were the two reasons they had to stay in the palace. But at this point, it seems like their prince was the one who was going to initiate the fight, why not? His wife was kidnapped! He should take action but they still didn't support the violence. Even if crown prince Beowulf is most likely to be culprit. No, he's the culprit. If Beowulf is the culprit which they all know he is, if their prince decides to act rashly, crown prince Beowulf might just hurt the princess and that is one thing they would never let happen!

They had to stop their prince from fighting but how??? All they knew now was to avoid war, a war between two brothers might not be good, thousands of lives would be lost for no reason possible. Well, in their prince's case, it was different because his wife was captured but it still didn't bring enough reason to call for war.

They had to do something to stop this disaster that was likely to come from reaching out to them. Robert and Amadeus were nowhere to be seen and it looked like this was all planned out. It seems that person was waiting for the right time to strike, and he got his trump card when they both left the palace. Robert was the best and skilled swordsman among their prince's men, whoever had captured the princess might have thought of this possibility and decided to take Robert, and when he found Amadeus with him, that person finally thought his prayers had been answered. Taking two most powerful people out of the team was really a wise thing for an enemy to do! Such a coward!!

Right now, the most important thing to do was to find the princess and prevent any war from happening. But the bothering part of it all was how Robert got captured? He couldn't be brought down easily like that right? He's very skilled and no one could beat him in a swordfight so how did he end up missing? Was he perhaps tricked? If that was the case, then someone among the palace guards close to the prince must be responsible for this? No one was at the table at that time except for the five of them, some palace guards, his highness and the princess so who would have done that? They couldn't think of any reasonable explanation other than this. There's a traitor among the royal guards!!
