She's his wife?

Summer opened her eyes and all she could breathe in was the smell of hospital equipment. Her vision cleared and she could see. She was in a hospital. But why? She looked to her side and saw Chris there, holding her hand, looking worried.

"What happened?" She asked. Of course she knew what happened but she wanted to know why she passed out.

"The doctor said it was low blood sugar and slight anemia." He placed a hand on her cheek. "Why didn't you call for help?"

"I did...the door locked on the outside after Helen left." She said. Helen of course. She may seem nice but Chris knew how she used to bully the poor kids then. She just couldn't stand them being around her.

"Don't worry...that won't happen again, i promise you." He said. A fixed anger in his voice. If anyone ever touched her again, he'd kill them. She smiled. He was the best.

"Thank you for always looking out for me." She said quietly. She had never felt this protected before in her life. He smiled and touched her nose.

"Isn't that what husbands are for?"

Back at the office, it was closing hours and everyone was dismissed. They were gossiping.

"I guess he really is into Summer Cale."

"You guess? Did you see the way he ran to the restroom and carried her to his car?"

"Why would he choose her over somebody like Helen Hanks?"

Nancy was passing by when she heard Summer's name from one of the gossipers. She approached them.

"Hold on. Tell me everything you know about Summer Cale." She needed to get revenge on her for making her aunt get fired. "I'll make it worth your while." She waved some cash in their face.

At the hospital, a few hours later, Summer was discharged and she walked hand in hand with Chris. Mostly cause he wouldn't let her go, saying she was too weak to walk on her own. Cecelia was in the car outside, waiting for them. As soon as they got outside the hospital, a camera flashed in their face.

"Mr Norton, over here, over here." A young man, took more pictures of them, blocking them from passing.

"Get the fuck outta here." He pushed the man away, shielding Summer as he helped her into the car, then drove off. The camera man walked over to Nancy standing by the corner and gave her the film. She handed him a wad of cash and he walked away. She brought out her phone and made a call.

"I have scoop for you. I'll send in the details now." She ended the call, smiling satisfactorily.

They had been driving for over 30 minutes now and all Summer could think about was that the press had photos of them now. Her worst nightmare had just begun. What would this mean? Would they accept her as his wife or call her a shameless gold-digging mistress? Chris noticed her worried expression. He placed a hand on her lap in reassurance. It wasn't working.

"Stop the car." She said. Cecelia stopped, staring at her through the mirror. "I need some air." She got out and Cecelia wanted to react but Chris held her back.

  "Give her some time."

Summer thought his mother hating her was bad. But this was way worse. She placed a hand on her head, leaning on the side of the car. A bunch of teenage high school girls walked up to her.

"You stole Christian from our Helen."

  "You shameless bitch"

Summer stared at them, unable to speak. She was already thrown off balance from what happened earlier but this just made her more stressed.

  "What?"

"Shut up! You man-stealing whore!" The obvious leader of the group yelled. Chris got out of the car.

"Back the hell up." He barked and they all dispersed. "Get in the car." He told Summer. She got in, looking down at her fingers, hands shaking. She was really gonna tear up this time.

"Uhh sir..." Cecelia called his attention. He got back in the car. "It's gone viral." She showed him the pictures of the two of them uploaded to a blog. Summer gasped, a tear fell across her cheek. No, no, no, no. She had a migraine. "Everyone thinks you're cheating on your Fiancee, Helen Hanks and that you fired your employee for your mistress." Chris growled in anger. Was this the work of his mother or Helen?

"Those girls." He pointed at the group of girls walking away. "Track them down. I want them arrested for slander and assault." He ordered. Summer looked at him. She bit her lips from bursting into tears as more tears slid down her face.

"And call my PR team, I'm announcing my marriage with Summer today." He said, his decision, final. He should've done this a long time ago, but he wanted it to be special. Now his mum and Helen had to ruin it for him. Summer thought she didn't hear right. She turned to him, wiping the tears off her face.

  "Are you sure about this?"

"Of course baby." He caressed her hair. "It's time. I want the world to know you're my wife."

The next day, Nancy and Vincent sat on the couch in their house, Nancy, resting her head on Vincent's lap, browsing and Vincent stroking her hair, also with his phone.

"No, no, no, this is all wrong." Nancy sat up on the couch, her eyes wide. Vincent looked at her. She was being dramatic, again. He looked back at his phone.

"Summer, is married to Christian Norton." She announced. Vincent flipped to face her and took the phone from her hand.

"What?" He examined the details of the blog and breathed fearfully. "Shit."

Nancy grimaced. What was he being regretful for? He had her.

"I work for the Nortons." As if on cue, his phone rang. It was his boss. He picked it up.

"I guess you've seen the news." His boss began. "I know Mrs Norton is your ex girlfriend and you dumped her. Resign now and you'll get your severance pay." Summer was the friendliest person ever. After Vincent was done with college and started working, she would bring lunch to his workplace everyday and his boss was fond of her. They were good friends. She even helped his wife throw a birthday party for their son one time. "Otherwise, we get into trouble if Mr Norton finds out you work for us."

"Sir, you can't do this to me, I..." The call ended abruptly. Vincent started at the phone for a long time. Did he just lose his job because of Nancy? Nancy looked to him, eyes, inquiring.

  "What happened?"

"I just lost my job. This is all your fault. Why would you mess with Summer like that?"

"Calm down, will you?" She was as unbothered ever. "Sure, she hooked up with Christian Norton. She's still a low class, attention seeking hoe. A nobody. There must be someone on their side who's dying to get rid of that parasite." She said. Vincent pushed her off him completely and left the living room.

"Pookie bear." Nancy called out, following him.
