CEO?

Chris got into his car, adjusting his suit as he did. Mondays were the happiest day for him. Plus, he had jus gotten married. She was much more prettier than his intended bride and she seemed nice too. He didn't care if it was just a fake marriage. He actually liked her a bit. She was pretty, reserved and sweet. He sat at the back seat on and his personal assistant turned to him, a smile on her face.

"Good morning Mr Norton."

"Morning Cecelia." He returned the smile. "Any feedback on what I told you to do"

"Yes sir, I gave Mr Williams the new project like you asked to stop his daughter from coming to the blind date."

"I knew I could count on you" He said, holding some files in his hands, examining them.

"But sir, we cannot keep giving away business like this. And your grandmother is not gonna stop till you get married"

"Well, I have some news for you then. I just got married." He looked up from the files with a smile. Cecelia wrinkled her brows in confusion.

Monday. How she hated Mondays. She stepped out of the cab, paid the driver and heaved a breath, staring at the building. Another day of torture awaited her. She walked in and smiled at Jess, her co-worker, who smiled back. Jess was the only closest friend to her. They talked about almost everything. She was holding some files in her hand, working on her laptop. She stopped and faced Summer as she sat on her desk and dropped her hand bag.

"Good morning." She began.

"Good morning." Summer replied, with a huge smile on her face.

"You look happy, so, did you take care of that cheating rat and his Minnie mouse?"

"I guess you could say that. You should've seen that bitch after I spilled coffee all over her."

She and Jess giggled.

"Summer Cale!" Her boss called. A lady in her mid-forties walked in. Shoulders high, tone authoritative, height intimidating. Her red bob hair swung over her shoulder as she walked. "I don't know how you find the time to dilly-dally and gossip when your KPI is in the toilet." She tossed a file on Summer's table. "We want an interview with the CEO of Norton Enterprises. Make it happen or you're fired."

"But Mr Norton is the youngest Tycoon on wall street. Even the New York times need months to get an interview with him." Jess tried to defend Summer.

"I'm sorry, did anyone hear me ask Jess for her opinions?" She asked and people around mumbled answers. Jess pouted, facing her desk.

"You have 72 hours." She sneered. "And there are some boxes in the storage closet, in case you wanna get ahead and start cleaning up your desk" she walked away. Jess faced Summer again, making a face and mimicking her boss as she walked away. Summer sighed. What was even her problem? She opened the file to examine the detail and gasped at the sight of the CEO. It was him.

"Mr Norton is famous for being a brat during interviews. What did you do to set that old witch off, Summer?" Jess asked.

"I didn't do anything."

Earlier...

"Auntie Penny...You have to kick her out of the company. Summer Cale is literally ruining me." Nancy yelled over the phone. Penny Reeve tutted.

"Don't you worry pumpkin. I'll deal with her. Anything for my favorite niece" She replied.

"Thank you Auntie Penny." Nancy smiled. Penny hung up, an evil smile on her face. She had always hated Summer and this was just the perfect ledge to punish her.

Summer closed the door of the restroom shut and dialed a number and held it to her ear. How could it be. She married the CEO of Norton Enterprises? She must be dreaming. He picked up the phone.

"Miss me already?" He began cheekily.

"You're THE Christian Norton? Why didn't you say anything?"

"You never asked. Is something wrong?"

"No. But I do have a small favor to ask you. Actually, a big favor." She started. They were married after all and she helped him. The least he could do was help her as well.

"You're my wife, there's no such thing as favor between us. Talk to me." He stated. She sighed. He was reasonable at least.

"Well, the publication that I work for would like to invite you do to an interview with us."

There was a pause on the other end of the line, then he spoke.

"Well, I am a very busy man..."

"Yea, no of course, I know that its impossible to get an interview with you, at least that's what Jess said anyways and..." She spoke without catching her breath

"Summer, relax, look I'm just joking with you. Of course I'll do it."

"That's it? No need to consider?"

"You're my wife. Your wish is my command."

Summer smiled. He was such a gentleman. But their marriage was just for a while. Nothing serious. They would get a divorce as soon as grandma gets off his back.

"Well, that's very kind of you."

"I'll see you later."

With that, he hung up. Summer smiled a bit as her cheeks turned red. No, no, she couldn't actually fall for him. He probably didn't even like her either. They were just doing each other favors but she actually kind of liked it.

"Hmm, I could get used to this marriage kind of thing." She left the restroom.

She got to her boss' office. The old hag was busy tapping away at her computer. Summer sighed. She had to just keep her cool and be humble. It was her boss, no matter how spiteful she was. She cleared her throat and Penny turned to her, an utter look of disdain on her face.

"Well? Spit it out."

"I got us an exclusive interview with Mr Norton."

Penny burst into a heartfelt chuckle. Of course she did. She knew it was impossible to get Mr Norton, that was why she assigned it to Summer in the first place. Summer's fists clenched into balls. Penny wanted to fire her on purpose.

"You can't just lie to save your sorry ass."

"I'm not. He'll be here, first thing tomorrow morning. "

Mr Bryant, Head HR walked into the office, passing glances from Penny to Summer. "Did I just hear something about an exclusive interview with Mr Norton?" Penny stood up, adjusting her jacket with a smile.

"Yes, you did." She began "I set it up and he said yes."

The lying bitch.

"That's great." Bryant commended. But Summer wasn't just going to keep mum and let her take the credit.

"Ms Reeve, now that I got us the interview with Mr Norton, is there anything else, you would like me to do"

"Wait, wait, you got the interview?" Bryant asked her.

"I did sir."

Penny boiled in silence, staring hatefully at Summer.

"Have you ever interviewed anyone before?" Summer was about to reply and Penny interrupted.

"I'm afraid, she is not experienced enough. I'll do it."

"All the more reason to give her a chance." Bryant said then looked to Summer. "But do you think you can handle it?"

"I'd be honored. Thank you Mr Bryant. I wont let you down." She said excitedly.

"No problem." He nodded toward Penny, she nodded back with a fake smile as he left the office. She glared towards Summer and Summer glared at her.

"Why did you do that?" Penny asked through gritted teeth.

"What do you mean? Tell the truth?" Summer smiled and walked out of the office. Penny stood there, blood boiling, anger rising. She thinks she's so smart. Who even does she think she is?

"I'll show her."
