Bloodline Transfusion (Part: 2)

• • • • • •

Lira, Seth, and Michael stood in the corner of a room full of children. They were all cuffed and dressed in a gray shirt and long pants.

"Why are you here, Lira? You're not five yet, are you?" Seth inquired.

"Nope." Lira replied, shaking her head. Her mind was racing as she tried to come up with a way to escape or survive the Bloodline Transfusion.

She would have preferred to not go through it though, but she didn't have a choice now. She had ran out of time, so she to make the best of it. She had no idea how they did it, but her body needed to be strong.

She just didn't realize how strong she needed to be. Lira was much stronger than those her age. Aether has been strengthening her body since she was a week old.

No one, or only a few people her age, could compete with her, but none were human.

Michael's brow tilted downwards, and his head tilted. "I wonder why they're forcing you to go through it so early."

"Maybe it's because she's smarter than us. I mean, it's not like it's a secret." With a shrug, Seth said.

"Doubt it." Lira averted her gaze from them. She couldn't break the cuffs with her bare strength; she could only do so with magic, which she lacked at the moment.

She couldn't even use World Energy or Aether to strengthen her wrists. Lira looked around and noticed a swarm of guards.

Lira and the others watch as a set of doors opens, but it wasn't the one they came through at the start.

Nate and others in white doctor's uniforms entered the room not long after. He stood in front of the children.

Nate wasn't as cold as the other people in the tower, but he did his job well and followed orders.

"I'm sure you've heard it before, but today is the day. You will all go through Bloodlina Transfusions today. Some will take longer, and some will not make it.

You will be called up in groups or individu aww ally. You all know what your number is, so keep an ear out for it."

'This is bullshit. I call fowl play! I thought I had more time; which idiot upstairs decided on this?'

"Section 7646!"

Lira stood up from the floor and walked over to the doctor who had called her name.

Seth has already left, so she was one of the last children to be called. Michael sat with a worried expression. The other kids in the room were all the same.

"Best of luck." Michael said as he waved to her.

"Hm."

Lira and Michael didn't talk much, but she didn't dislike him. He peaked her interest more than the others. He didn't bombard her with a million and one questions every hour, and she was fine with that.

She was led through the doors into a long corridor flanked by metal doors on both sides. Guards were stationed at nearly every entrance.

Lira was starting to notice how many guards were in the tower as she walked. She assumed there were more than usual as a precaution.

The woman continued walking until they reached the end of the hall, she stopped in front of a set of doors and knocked a few times before taking a step back.

Nate opened the door from the other side. He sighed as he looked down at Lira for a second.

"Let's get started right away; this may take longer and be more painful than the others."

"So I'm getting special treatment?" Lira inquired, hoping to irritate him in some way.

She had few interactions with Nate, so she reasoned that acting high and mighty would suffice. Of course, she had only just begun.

"I wouldn't say 'special' per say, but whatever makes you feel better."

Lira frowned slightly, trying to stay put. 'I'm going to have a great time ripping your spin out of your body through your bloody mouth. I'm a lady with some class, so I'll bow after.'

"Would you permit me to ask you a question?" Lira asked while standing inside a massive glass cylinder. There were doctors all around her, closely watching the procedure.

Some were making notes about what would happen. Her tube was the only one in the room, and she was certain that more doctors were inside as well.

Nate said as he stood in front of her tube. "What is it?"

"Do you mind removing these?" She showed him her handcuffs by raising her hands. "Since you are going to... what are you going to do again?"

"We are going to infect you with demon and angel blood. We'll only use half of it; if you survive, we'll use the rest."

"Well that's not very descriptive, now is it? But, if you're going to do... that, could you at least take them off? I don't want to be shackled and possibly die."

Looking at the man, Lira shrugged. She actually wanted the cuffs removed in order to use Aether, not to escape, but to use it while being subjected to unholy amounts of pain.

If she could do that, she might be able to survive. She'd given up on blasting her way out, but maybe she could reap some benefits from it.

Nate turned away from her, before walking away from the girl without saying a word.

"I don't see a problem–"

"Yeah! But after putting me in here, how are you going to get someone to take them off? It's not like there is a door, you kinda just dropped me in.

Wait, why am I in a tube anyway? Shouldn't I be strapped to a table of something? You know what, nevermind. You are the doctor here. Or at least I hope so."

Lira smiled noticing an irk on his forehead. She wanted to piss someone off before her demise.

After a bit of time, and some arguing, Lira was laying on a table, her arms and legs bound.

Two people were holding her arms, sticking needles into her arms. It hurt a bit, but she held it in. But they didn't compare to the fear she had towards the needles.

She never knew why, she doesn't even remember the last time she was infected with them. Besides from wben she died. Lira wondered if she had trauma from the experience.

"This is more like it; I'm starting to feel like an actual lab rat– ah. W-Why am I suddenly feeling hot?"

"Could you tell us how you're feeling?" Taking a step back, the woman inquired.

"I just said I was hot, but now I'm cold and dizzy."

"Hm." Nate hummed from the other side of the room. He sat in a chair, slightly worried. It only took a few seconds for the other subjects to start screaming.

"I'm curious when it'll hit her..."

"AHHHHH!"

"There we have it. I wish you luck, Lira. Marry gave you that name, did she not? I wonder what you will become after it all."

For days Lira was strapped to the table feeling unimaginable pain. She felt like her entire being was being burned, then healing, then it would be frozen and healed again.

It was a cycle that seemed to have no end. She passed out many times, and shed even more blood.

It got to the point where she was almost drowning in her own blood most if the time. One minute it was hot, then cold, then she felt like she had no control of her body.

Lira was forced to use Aether and World Energy to allow her to survive. Luckily, her plan had worked.

The combination of both energies was enough to make her survive the first part and second part of the process.

Over time, she had become almost numb to all of the pain. She couldn't scream, more so she didn't want to.

Lira wanted it to end, but wanted to be free even more.

Lira's dream was the leave that tower and live how she wanted to. She wanted to have a family again, one that she can go to when things get low.

She can't get all of these things if she dies there, so, like she always does, she bottled it all up inside of her. Lira turned the pain into hate.

She hatted Val, she hated Nate, she hated her mother, she hated that damn tower. Her father... she didn't care for him. He didn't want her, so why should she care.

She doesn't even know his name or what he looks like. She doesn't know if she has siblings or not, but she didn't care. Lira cared for few people, and he wasn't one of them.

For the first time in her life, she missed Ava's blabbering. She missed Seth's bold questions. She missed Marry's warmth.

Lira never admitted it, but she truly did enjoy those times. And she would do anything to make sure she can experience them again.

At the end of it, her black hair had turned white, and her blue eyes were golden. She had grown horns, even her eyes had a significant changes besides from the base color.

The white of one of her left eye had turned black, and black marks appeared on that eye almost like cracks.

But most importantly, the pain was finally over with.

"Call Dr. Nate! And tell him that Subject 7646 has survived!" A man yelled, running towards Lira.

She had yet to move an inch or even speak, she was basking in her new body. She felt so much better energy pools has grown significantly and her energy channels now didn't even compare to how they were before.

Her body felt stronger, and she didn't feel like vomiting her own guts out. She was still laying in her own blood, however.

A guard left the room soon after the man's outburst. A doctor came to her and looked at someone standing a few meters away.

"Get someone with a healing ability, I don't care who."

"But, Dr. Nate had the best one in the tower."

"Did you not–"

Lira liked to the think she was a patient person, but everyone's patients runs thin at some point in their life.

She didn't care about what would happen after. She could say she doesn't remember, or doesn't know what happened while she was out. Lira would come up with a lie later, she always does.

She broke though the restrictions using her new found strength and graded the man by his neck, bringing him close to her face.

"Hey, what's your name?" She asked, her nails grow digging into his skin, almost drawing blood in the process

"K-K–" He stuttered, trying to get out of her grasp.

"You know what, I don't give a fuck, excuse my language. Here's what's going to happen." Lira raised her other arm and created a shield made of ice, blocking several fire-based attacks.

Her amazing at how strong her ice was only lasted a second.

'I can also see some abilities in action, FINALLY! After years, the only one I ever saw was Marry's.' Lira thought looking back at the man shaking in her palm.

"You know what, nevermind. I'll just kill of you, okay?"

"Wait–"

"Nah! I wanna see some blood that isn't my own!"

Aether Flames burst from her palm, killing him instantly. His head was burned beyond the point of recognition, and almost to the point of ashs.

A glowing orb rose from the man's body, and flew into her's. Lira tilted her head before leaping backwards, dodging more fire.

She landed a few meters away, without making much noise.

'Interesting. More stuff I need to look into later. That's what we like to see!' A grin blossomed onto her face soon after.

Nine small purple flames appeared around her, floating in the air, then purple lightning crackled around them.

Less than a second after they were created, all of them fired in different directions, exploding on impact with the walls, floor, and ceiling of the room.

*BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!*

"Dr. Nate! Why are you walking so quickly." Vox asked walking behind Nate and Val. "If Subject 7646 survived, what is the rush. There are more than enough doctors there."

"Yes yes, I know. However, we don't know if she will survive or not, afterwards. She was on death's door when I left." Nate said. "And for all we know, she is just a husk now.

"The pain that goes with it is enough to break them. It has happened before."

"Huh, don't you knock them out before hand?" Vox asked.

"Eh, no. At first we did, seven years ago, but that changed after a year or so." Nate shook his head. "Somethings happened and rules changed."

Vox turned to face Val, but the man didn't look back. He kept walking silently next to Nate. Vox frown and rolled her eyes.

Out of all of the eight major people that were in charge of the tower, she was definitely the newest one.

Sent by the crown to ensure things go smoothly, and also to relay what happened. She wasn't high in the military, but her ability and family made it so she could easily rise through the ranks.

Even surpassing Val, who had spent years proving his worth. But she was prideful, more so than most people of nobility.

Vox hated being kept in the dark, exspecualy when it came to her work. She just had to sit there and grit her teeth while helping them.

Hopefully she would help get the royals to value the work they did at the tower more, instead of just a side project.

"How is the others?" Vox asked, changing the subject. "The other five?"

"Successful, all of them. Better than we expected actually." Nate said, his spirits were lifted when he heard all of them had survived.

Now Lira just needed to survive like the rest, and it would be perfect. This years subjects had been an all time high, even though the blood they use were the most potent they even had.

Nate excepted it to be qualified over quantity, but they had quality and quantity. He wouldn't be surprised if the king and queen wanted them moved to train elsewhere.

If anything, he was expecting it to happen within the year, and if it did, then the tower would potentially become one of their main projects.

If that happened, and if they created more like Lira and the others, the kingdom would definitely rise in power in the coming years.
