CH93. She would do anything to get me a wife

"Do they know you?" He asks back and fakes a poker face. He can't tell her anything now. Things should be a bit peaceful.

Her dad had said that she should not be reminded of her past. So, everything that happened at that time should remain unknown to her.

If she gets a hint of it, she might try digging out or asking around.

And things will get so complicated if this were to happen.

He cannot accept seeing her in pain once again,after she has grown up. She might even be unable to hold it in.

"And why are they so much into putting us together?" She asks him quietly and remains deep in thought.

It does not make any sense. Those parents must be careless. How can they force their son onto someone they don't even know very well?

"You got it wrong. Mom does that to any girl she meets," Lu Min Chen says. "She has already begged so many girls to accept into marrying me. She would do anything to find me a wife."

But he feels like slapping himself the moment he finishes speaking.

Why did he say that? It will make her assume everything and maybe insist on leaving.

Ye Xiao Xiao looks at him when he says it. "Oh," she says absentmindedly. "I think there is nothing to worry about them."

She feels bad a bit. What had she expected? Did she think that his mom was just sitting there idling, and she only thought that her son is supposed to get married when she saw her?

But still, she is disappointed. How many girls has she already forced on him?

"But you have to know that they will come to look for you soon," he says when he remembers something.

"Hhm?' Ye Xiao Xiao asks. "Why would they come looking for me?" She asks. There are so many girls out there who Lu Min Chen might show interest in in the future. 

They cannot bother her because if this one time, right? She is a poor girl with no background.

She is not as rich as the other ladies that are always wooing around Lu Min Chen.

"Have you forgotten that there is someone else that saw us yesterday?" Lu Min Chen asks.

Is he the only one that remembers that Han Chan came into his office at that critical time?

He has not heard Ye Xiao Xiao say anything about it since then. She just acts like it is a secret only between the two of them.

Ye Xiao Xiao remembers that someone actually came in. But she was so scared that she hid under him. She did not have the time of looking to know who it was.

And Lu Min Chen chased the person away immediately. Did the person recognise her? This thought gives her another scare.

She hopes that he his her well. Yeah, she realised how he defensively covered her with his body when the person appeared at the door.
