CH27. Daddy is happy today

Since she is the only relative her dad has, there are some things that as her daughter, she would not do.

And she is glad that Lin Mo has always been here. They would always take turns looking after him, from the first say he was taken to the hospital.

Even now, he is the one taking care of the hospital bills, since they have already depleted all they had.

Lin Mo pats her back gently and walks out. They have reached a point where words can no longer be used. Words have become so seldom to them, since they no longer matter.

"Dad," Ye Xiao Xiao calls and takes a seat beside him on the bed. "How are you feeling today?" She asks.

She looks at his hand that is now so emaciated and a tear falls from her eyes. She wonders whether this man would ever go back to the healthy person he once was.

Seeing her cry, Ye Jin Hong pulls her towards him and wipes away her tears. He pinches her cheeks lovingly with a smile.

"Why are you crying? Daddy is happy today," he says.

Ye Xiao Xiao looks at his face once again in confusion. Some days ago, this man was not even able to utter a few words. Should she call it progress?

"Why are you happy today dad?" She asks and smiles back weakly.

"I am just happy. Does daddy need a reason to be happy now?" He questions her sternly. "Let us see, what have you brought for lunch today?" 

Ye Xiao Xiao carries the lunch box and sets the table on the bed well. If this man has personally asked for food today, she needs to be rejoicing.

She has been forcing him to even take water.

And just like that, the man eats all of his food, without being begged at all.

After clearing everything away, Xiao Xiao looks back at her dad and holds his hand. "Can daddy tell me now why he is happy?"

The man purses his lips and smiles even more. "Because my Xiao Xiao is in safe hands now."

"Dad?" Xiao Xiao looks at him in confusion. What safe hands. Does it mean that her dad is getting well? He is the only safe hands in which she can ever be.

Little does she know that it is because this man has had a conversation with the great Lu Min Chen and they have just come to an agreement.

He now knows that even if he dies, his daughter will be very safe. 

For the first time, he appreciates that demand the Lu family made those years back. It has turned out to be of great help to him.

He pats her head adoringly. "Daddy can rest well now," he says.

His words jolts Xiao Xiao awake. Rest well? No! It should not be what she is thinking.

"Dad..." She calls him in fear and tries to hug him.

"Xiao Xiao," bring me a glass of water please," he says, cutting her short.
