Staring contest with a widow

"What. The. hell is going on here?" Nick said out loud as we witnessed his men lying on the ground, all tied up in their birthday suits.

"Who did this?" He asked, half expecting the answer he didn't wish to hear.

"Sir…It's Andrew." Agent Hills got up from the floor after untying the ropes on her. Her PVC-type fabric was torn in some areas after being flunked around like a ragdoll, but it held on nonetheless.

Her eyebrows however, didn't make it. The last few strands of hair fell off during the fight…

"He said he got a lead on loki, and was about to head out. We tried to stop him but failed." She clenched her fists as she recalled her fight.

They were played with like children. The elite soldiers trained for over a decade under her were overwhelmed by a single teenager.

While she knew that he was far from being normal, it didn't stop the bitter feeling of defeat from creeping out.

The only good thing that came out of it was that Andrew had injected a serum, which he claimed would accelerate hair growth. So they should be back to normal within the next 8 hours.

"Has he mentioned where he's going?"

"The public square."

"Prepare the jets. I want all eyes on his lookout. Make sure every camera in the public square is monitored by our men." He went back to his office to plan further ahead of possible events.

"AND SOMEBODY CALL TONY! Coulson! Go get our captain, tell him its time to get back in the field…" He gave the last order before closing his doors.

"On it sir."

--------------------------------------

[Sir, we have a stowaway]

"How'd she even get in? Isn't that supposed to NOT happen?"

[Some cameras were malfunctioning after we stopped the explosion along with a few other functions in the ship]

"…So, miss Romanoff."

"Andrew"

"…."

"…."

'Why is she silent?' I thought in confusion after seeing her cross her arms. Since she got inside the ship, she must have a purpose. But this conversation won't go anywhere if I don't initiate it.

But…

I don't know why, but I feel like I'll lose if I speak first…

{Natasha POV}

'Why is he silent? I snucked into his ship while he wasn't looking. Although he found out later on after the ship fixed itself….something which should be impossible . Shouldn't he be questioning me about my motives.

He didn't show any hostility towards me so he must want something form me.But this conversation won't go anywhere if I don't initiate it.

But…

I don't know why, but I feel like I'll lose if I speak first…

{Pov end}

And so with the stare down still commencing, the two arrived on the public square.

"Keep up the stealth mode Veritas. And look for the gamma source."

[I am trying sir, but the entire place is now acting like a blind zone. There's too much gamma spread out.]

"How are the people still alive after that much gamma exposure?" I asked in amazement after looking at the monitors. The overcrowded streets were no longer visible with the gamma filter in place. It was like a ball of fire had landed in the center.

[…I do not know sir]

"Don't feel down about it, we'll get there eventually. In the meantime, keep watch for Loki. If the myths hold any sort of semblance, he should be causing a ruckus soon enough."

The widow of black was till silently looking at the monitors, with a poker face as always.

[Back widow sir]

'Hey, that's racist."

[…]

"I think I found him" Widow said before pointing at a bald man in a sweatshirt and baggy pants, with the American flag on his back.

"What're you talking about…? He looks normal"

"His walk is different. He's looking around this place as if he's new in this town. I just ran a search on him. Jamie Fardo, he's been living in new York for the past 13 years. That's not the behavior of a man living here for 13 years."

"…Maybe he's just drunk?"

"HEAR ME MORTALS. Prepare yourselves, for you are in the presence of none other than Loki Odinson, the God of Mischief, and rightful ruler of Asgard!"

As the curious gazes of onlookers turn towards him, he flourishes a grand scepter, his cape billowing behind him. A playful smirk plays across his face as he continues.

"I have come from realms beyond your comprehension to grace your humble city with my divine presence. Be grateful, mortals, for this is an exceedingly rare opportunity to witness a being of such greatness!"

A mixture of amusement and confusion spreads among the gathered crowd. Some exchange glances, unsure of whether to take Loki seriously or dismiss him as an eccentric street performer. However, his charismatic delivery and otherworldly aura hold their attention.

As he raised his scepter, the gemstone inside it started glowing, bringing me an interesting piece of information, courtesy of veritas.

"Behold the power of the God of Mischief!" he proclaims, his voice booming. "I am here to bring chaos, amusement, and perhaps a touch of unpredictability to your mundane lives. Consider it a gift from Asgard!"

*FWOOSH!*

The sound of a jet engine flowing by rang out from behind him as he turned around to see Iron man pointing blasters at him.

"Stand Down" His voice from a mini microphone rang out as the two stood a few meters apart.

"Aren't you gonna join? Widow asked me whilst still looking through the monitors.

"Unnecessary." As soon as I finished, Captain America dressed in blue ran with his iconic shield in hand and tackled the unsuspecting Asgardian.

"See."

The rest of the trip was quite monotone, save for the blondie with an inefficient hammer who dropped on my ship with his sparkling eyes...
