Meeting an unknown god

"How's the feed Veritas!?" I yelled while holding the power gate connected to an engine. The two intrinsic erasure mechanism derived from Howard's arc reactor principle and satellite tracking made it possible to freeze onto our precise location using the Tesseract as a reference point.

In layman's terms, I was using the tesseract's location as a beacon to our world and virtually creating a precise map of New York, for me to locate the drone from our side.

The drone coated in Aerogel was currently in a container at 183 Kelvin was unstable at first due o the uneven layering, however after some tweaking, it was working normally.

This was made possible solely due to synthesizing aerogel in large quantities. The lightweight material with exceptional insulating properties has an extremely low thermal conductivity and was often used in scientific and industrial applications back in my world.

Although the arc reactor is great, it wasn't enough to power the gate.

…So I just made more arc reactors. No need to make something better if quantity can catch up to quality.

"Here goes nothing."

With a pull, the thin rims of the gate thrummed to life gleaming yellow. And soon a yellow portal appeared in front of me.

The first time it appeared, I threw caution out the window and tried to poke my head inside. Safe to say that it was a reckless move on my part, but can you blame me though. I MADE AN ACTUAL PORTAL. Thankfully the intrusive thought subsided quickly before it could get dangerous.

"Send her in"

[Confirmed]

The drone slowly flew in while I kept my eyes on the monitor. And what greeted me on the other side was amazing.

"A desert."

[It appears so]

"Is the rat alive"

[His vitals are slightly higher than normal]

"What's his weight?

[It is 1kilogram]

"From 400grams to a 1000…..so the gravity is 1.5 time stronger over there."

[That would be the closest estimate without factoring in other aspect, such as the planet's mass and speed]

"Monitor the rat and look head north. Notify me once you find something."

[Sir there seems to be an issue]

"Let me guess….the compass isn't working?"

[Yes]

"Look at the sun and go using its position as reference."

[Confirmed]

I was about to head back, but the rising pulse of my rat held me in place

"What's happening?"

[The drone seems to be under attack]

"Oh so there's life on that planet. Leave the rat and fly up. We need more information. Turn on the camouflage and use Infra-Red to navigate the hostile parties."

[It seems to be just one woman]

"Woman….as in like earthling woman? Or just a monster with feminine features."

[A woman. And she is flying]

Through the monitor I saw her, a fairly tall young woman with a slender body. She was shown to be a white-haired woman with yellow eyes that possess crosses-shaped pupils. Her hair also seems to be floating as if they were alive and moving by themselves, further analysis shows that her hair is completely messy and possesses a cowlick.

"Can she see the drone?"

[She can, but she seems to be aiming for something else]

"…What else can she...THE PORTAL!" As If on que, she charged straight towards the portal.

[Should I close the portal sir?]

'Damn it! I was complacent.' "No don't close it yet."

I tuned on the program injector and the entire floor started buzzing. It was as if thousands of mosquitoes had got in, but it was actually 47 drones, armed with weapons.

'If I close the portal, she'll just destroy the drones and I'll lose my chance to get information. Let's go all in.'

"Send them in and shrink the portal until it breaks, we'll use the fragments to maintain connection."

The drones all went it, however the last 18 were destroyed right as they got through to the other side.

'Cubes?' The attacker was making cubes out of thin air and destroying the drones after enclosing them.

"Avoid them and use guns from C-16 and C-5 to distract her, it'll buy time for the other drones to disperse and also give us a measure of how strong she is."

[Confirmed]

The guns fired with loud noises, grasping her attention while the silencers, were used of catch her off guard.

None of them were useful as the bullets simply stopped a few meters before her.

'The sonar indicates no physical objects in between so it's something else.'

The woman looked intrigued by the bullets but soon threw them back at the drones, C-5 couldn't dodge in time and damaged it's motor….but it wasn't useless yet.

A smirk made way to my face as I looked ahead.

"Flashbang."

*BANG!*

The cameras from C-16 stopped functioning for a few seconds before getting back online. However, what greeted me was the sight of a huge Cube, now glowing slightly.

"ⱯƃꞱƉɘſʇꞰƩɓɔǝᖷǤȢɧƗʝƘꞀɱŊØⱣǪƦƧŦꞲƱƲɯꟽƸƻ" The woman said something incomprehensible and soon the a whirlwind started to form.

"Is she a god or something?. No this battle is impossible, shut down C-16 and increase the speed of all the others. Hopefully she thinks C-16 ran out of juice and ignores it." And thankfully that is exactly what happens.

I rejoiced as she flew past C-16 which I will now name Bart, and hunted down the other drones, including the poor rat.

"Wait a few hours and resume journey, we still have 1 month of battery left, so don't rush. Oh and check the time difference. I'll review the fight footage in the meantime."

[Confirmed]

I saw back down on my seat and sipped a cup of coffee. The stress from this situation weighing down on my mind.

'Re-entry will lead to the same outcome, I need to bypass her detection, Geiger counter shows abnormal radiation on the other side, so I'll need to reduce the power. But reducing it will make the portal unstable…'

"I can make a stabilizer using magnetism to guide and focus particle beams. The radio frequency cavities need to be monitored using the feedback control system but…"

'The vibration must be reduced using dampers. Ughh I'll need to buy a lot of stuff.' Tying my hair which has now reached my neck, I pulled up the serum on my desk and kept studying it for the next few hours while, thinking of ways to block her powers.

'Maybe I could use a mimicked spider sense to dodge her attacks, but incorporating it in a program is close to impossible. The cubes seem to behave as an inventory….did she store the whirlwind inside the cube?'

I kept writing the acquired data from the serum and testing them in a daze while trying to overcome this hurdle.

'I could acquire Tritium from the black market to make a thermonuclear weapon but that would destabilize the ecosystem in that world. Not to mention the troubles of keeping it in a building.'

"Maybe sound?....Yeah a military grade sound canon could be used to bypass her shield, or maybe a laser. The barrier was transparent so its permeable to light."

An idea soon popped into my head once I stopped writing. The silver plated clock on the wall showed that 4 more hours had passed.

"Veritas, could it be possible to store all my tech in an inventory using the principles of a tesseract?"

[It would be possible, however you would need to do it quickly before S.H.I.E.L.D gets wind of your purchases.]

"…Wait, can't you just block that information from reaching S.H.I.E.L.D? Information is still relayed through the net, although encrypted to a ridiculous degree."

[I can]

Then why didn't you say that before..!

I wanted to lash out but I already knew why.

'I wanted to do this by myself.'

"Well okay then, we're not going to hold back from now on, buy all the materials we need without the government knowing about it, and have them delivered within a few days."

[Certainly]

"I need to workout today too. Maybe I should get a gym membership?...'"
