Chapter 3

The sunlight blinded Maliya's eyes as she woke up from a deep sleep. A warm breeze greeted her as she tried to lift her head a little.

"Ughhhhh." she felt an immense pain as she tried so hard to sit down in the creaking bed.

The air was so fresh. It gently blows the old curtain as she smelled the sweet fragrance of flowers . It was so cool that the sharp pain in her head slowly subsided.

Wondering where she ended up to, Maliya looked around and find herself in a warmly lit room. It's not fancy but the atmosphere made her calm.

Slowly, she tried to get up from the bed but a sharp pain made her collapse with a loud thud. Her headache was terrible.

Soon, three people came zooming into the room. A woman, with whites in her hair looked at her with a concerned face as the old man lifted Maliya back into the bed. She gently tucked her and rested her hands in her forehead.

" It seems like you still have a fever. You shouldn't move around for now." The woman looked at her intently and gently held her hand.

" We're very sorry for what happened, it really was an accident." Maliya looked at her, but it seems like her thoughts were so far away.

"Mom...Mommy.. " is all that she can ever say. Her vision was hazy and she had found the resemblance between her mother and the old woman sitting before her. But as it became clear, tears were falling in her eyes as she remembered everything that happened.

The old woman did not know what happened but the cry that she heard from the little girl was the evidence of her loneliness. She gently patted the girl's back and wiped the girl's tears.

With the presence of a woman that resembled her mother, Maliya remembered how she lost everything that night. Everything that happened was her vision right before she arrived in her mother's door. The death if her parents was a complete shock for her. Even her hands were wildly shaking from the trauma.

And in that day, Maliya cried and cried.
