Heaven Devourer mountain

"Isn't that overkill?" Inside Arian's tent, Leon's voice resounded as he looked at Arian with amusement.

Arian not only wore her armor, but she also concealed countless knives and weapons all over her person—from boots to belt to a hairpin holding her hair together. She was loaded with weapons.

"Funny," Arian looked back at Leon and mocked.

He too was fully equipped, wearing leather armor with two daggers, one by his waist and the other hidden. However, the most eye-catching thing about Leon wasn't that—it was what he had in his bag.

Healing potions! Dozens of them were in his bag.

"You can never be too prepared, Boss." To the side, a voice sounded, supporting no one precisely.

"Hmm, you're right," Leon smirked before patting this person on the back.

This guy was someone Leon was very familiar with—the sly youth from the Blood Serpent Clan, called Gunta.

Leon had made Arian buy him a slave, and he didn't need to manipulate her or anything; she was the one who proposed the circumstances that led to him buying Gunta.

"Cough, cough," Arian coughed slightly.

She understood that joining the Death Squad was very sensitive, but most of all, what she couldn't afford was Leon causing trouble or working with the Blood Serpent Clan to escape.

She had to place a tight leash on him, so as soon as they left the commander, she suggested the oath be altered a little bit. She asked for the safe distance between her and Leon to be shortened from 100 meters to about 40 meters and that Leon couldn't spill the beans of their contract even if they were found wanting.

It was asking for too much, yes, but Leon surprisingly agreed. He had his demands, though, and one of them was for Arian to buy Gunta.

"You ready?" Leon, after tightening his armor, looked over at Arian and inquired. Arian responded with a nod, and Leon turned back to Gunta and nodded.

—Whoop

Leon and Arian emerged from the tent where about 2 guards stood guard. These guys were their 'escorts'; of course, this was just a name. What they were here for was to make sure Leon and Arian didn't try to escape this responsibility.

"Lead the way," Arian voiced, and the guards began moving.

"Neighhh!!!" The sound of several horses neighing echoed in an open field next to the forest. There, a platoon of hunters and carriages huddled together.

In the middle of the group, a majestic carriage of elegance stood tall. It had silver engravings at the bottom, and the wheels were sturdy and reinforced with something that seemed to be magic.

"This one is yours," the guard pointed to a carriage just behind the main one. This one seemed lackluster, just like a normal transport carriage.

"Let's go," Leon and Arian proceeded to walk towards their designated carriage. The carriage was surrounded by men of the Death Squad. Each one of them gave off a feeling of dread; they had seen battle, and their very essence emitted a form of battle readiness.

Soon, Arian and Leon arrived before their carriage. But before they could get on, two figures caught their eye from the entrance of the main carriage.

One was a brute covered in pitch-black armor with a greatsword by his side. The other was a young man with bright blue eyes and a chain around his waist.

"It's them," Arian muttered under her breath.

These two were Anan and Dorian—the two who had schemed and attacked them previously.

The door to the main carriage slowly swung open, and Anan proceeded to walk inside. Meanwhile, Dorian, who was right behind Anan, turned and looked over at Arian with a sick twisted smile on his face.

"Hehe," he laughed mischievously at Arian before turning around to follow behind Anan.

It was clear that something fishy was going on. Immediately after defeating Anan and Dorian, they were sent an invitation to join the Death Squad, and now Anan and Dorian had appeared.

If this whole thing wasn't suspicious, then she didn't know what was.

"Go inside; we are about to set off," one of the guards who had led both Arian and Leon here said as he rode his horse over to the side of the carriage.

"Hm!" Arian nodded and entered the carriage, and not long after...

"Set off!"

From the very front of the troops, a voice filled with a commanding tone sounded as a man in silver armor directed the Death Squad to set off.

They had their target and were fully prepared to take them down; all they needed to do now was actually make it to the location before their targets would have the chance to run off.

As for their destination, it was a place called The Heaven Devourer Mountain.
