New College

Chapter 7

SKYLAR LEWIS MARSHAL

A loud honk of a horn from a vehicle yanked me from my seat as I was leisurely watching a movie in the living room.

I immediately ran outside and hopped on the backseat of Todd's pickup with Lisa in the passenger seat.

Both volunteered to give me a tour of my new college. Well, it's the only college in town and they too, attended it.

The school was open a day before the first day of school year, giving the freshmen and transferees a familiarity of the school grounds.

There might also be professors around in preparation for their another year of hard work.

On our way, I've noticed that it's quiet far from our house.

'Guess I'll ask Dad for a car'

Well, to be honest and not to be rude, Todd's pickup looks like it's held together with a bailing wire and duct tape, running on prayers and borrowed time — a junker, beat up.

But I'm not complaining.

And when we arrived at school, there were only a few cars around and also a few of them were in the state just as Todd's.

'goodness'

'I love cars'

'I really do'

'How come they let their cars reached down to that state.'

I sobbed inwardly.

Setting that aside, I followed behind them as they took the lead, showing me around.

And I overestimated the place—

… 'cause it's just really a small institution.

It's not something like those universities in the city.

Well, the area is vast, there's a little mini forest with bleachers to relax on, oval for a track, outdoor courts for volleyball and basketball.

And all the buildings were fencing the entire vicinity... two-story as the tallest.

'gosh'

'To think that I own skyscrapers in the city'

They also have this little gymnasium and Mona told me that it is enough to cater all the students together.

So I presumed that the number of students enrolled were just enough to run this college.

"Lisa…" somebody shouted.

I thought my eardrum's going to break from that.

Both me and Todd turned to where the voice came from.

We were outside the Administration Building to get our schedules along with other students.

A girl was running towards Lisa. She has an orange curly hair and wearing all black— she looked amazing on it.

Then she jumped, wrapping her legs around Lisa's waist and her arms around the neck.

She peppered kisses every part of Lisa's face which earned a giggle from the girl.

By then, I noticed all the people around were looking at them.

"I missed you so much little drummer girl," the girl said.

Lisa smirk, "I missed you too mushroom."

The girl jumped down and slap Lisa's arm playfully then she turned to Todd.

"Guess our peaceful days ends huh." Todd said with a playful tone.

"I know it's boring without me, " the girl boastfully acted.

Then they hugged and her mouth went round as soon as her eyes landed on me.

She immediately break free from Todd and went closer to me.

"Did the heavens just drop you?" she asked in awe.

I wryly smiled.

I took off my cap, letting my hair fall down and extended my hand to her.

"I'm Sky."

"I'm in the clouds, " she uttered.

My brow lifted while chuckling.

And she did not take my hand, instead she gave me a bone-breaking hug.

'goodness'

I held my breath— damn so tight.

'I'm gay, just so you know.'

Her front was pressed against mine— she has them huge and the softness was making me all giddy inside.

Thankfully she let go of me, both her arms in my shoulders.

"I'm Jhen, " she introduced.

She almost fall on her butt when Lisa forcefully grabbed her away from me.

"You're scaring her." Lisa eyed the girl.

Turning her head on me, "Sorry about that."

"This mushroom of a bestfriend is just… a clingy one."

"She's no harm though."

I just sheepishly smiled then Todd called our attention.

"Oh-oh…" He motioned his gaze around.

The three of us girls ran our gazes around us only to see everyone's attention on us— particularly to me.

'Oh come on'

Lisa grunted.

"Ugh…"

"Sorry, small town, " she apologized tapping my arms twice and then we left the place.

Sarah drove me to school on the next day.

I was still yawning in the passenger seat as I am really not a morning person and I've got to attend a morning assembly for new students: freshmen and transferees.

Sarah dropped me right at the entrance of the school gymnasium as the assembly would be there.

I got out of the car and before I could close the door, Sarah called out.

"Do you have cash with you?"

"No one accepts cards here."

Well, I was quiet prepared for that.

"I have, " then I bid her goodbye and went on my way inside.

A couple of portable plastic chairs were grouped inside with banners of different programs or courses.

Since the school is just a small one, there were only a few programs offered and most of it is in agriculture.

Me— I enrolled a program in Engineering.

'Hehehe'

The day went by, not even one of my professors showed up due to an emergency meeting. Hence, by lunch Lisa texted me to meet at the school cafeteria.

As I headed my way over there, I kind of brushed off the feeling of being looked at.

Yeah, ever since this morning, wherever I go, eyes were on me.

Fine, I'm gorgeous and I know that.

'Tsk'

'Hahaha'

Todd waved indicating where they are as soon as I entered the place.

There was another one added in the group.

"Oh my… shit."

"You're too… gorgeous, " a really obvious gay gasped in awe seeing me up close.

I let out a small laughed as I took my seat and I mouthed 'thank you' playfully.

Lisa smiled while shaking her head sideways.

"This beautiful gay here is Jake, " she pointed to the man who complimented me.

I shook his hand and I gave a gentle smile to Jhen on his side.

"We'll chip in," Lisa said after some time.

I was just silently listening to my new circle of friends, they plan to go outside the campus for some pizza.

My brows furrowed hearing the word— chip in.

Jhen even whined, flipping her wallet for a proof of not having enough money for now then Jake got a hold of it, checked every compartment and even shook it which earned a laugh from Lisa and Todd.

Then Jake opened his wallet, showing everyone that even he has less than Jhen's, he would still contribute even a little and he's not complaining.

He's teasing Jhen of her future of prosperity by being so thrifty.

I was smiling all throughout their friendly bickering...

... and just happily listening to their whining too and got curious of—

… just how expensive is that pizza?

'Hahaha'

Then Lisa and Todd laid down small bills on the table as their contribution. Jake followed then Jhen still pouting as she whined but gave in anyway then they all turned to me.

My brows lifted up.

"Oh," I snapped then pulled out my wallet and laid down the bill on the table together with theirs.

They all gaped in awe again.

"Small bill Sky," Lisa said.

My mouth hung low for a second in confusion then ran my hand again on my wallet.

They looked expectant while I wryly smiled while pulling out another same bill.

"Gosh," Jen gasped.

Then Jake grabbed my wallet and opened it.

His eyes bulged and her mouth went round.

"You carry these huge amount of money in cash?"

Lisa grabbed my wallet from Jake, " Shit."

Then she gave it to Todd then Jhen grabbed it after.

"Who are you?" She asked me in disbelief.

Well, honestly I've never carried cash in my life. I always have my cards— swipe and swipe.

So, I guess I carried too much cash this time.

'Hehehe'
