CH 39

(third person POV)

After wiping out the blood on Ali's hand, Ezio wasn't surprised about the fact that the wounds on it had already healed.

The first time that she had seen his recovery, she was stunned. But after many times of seeing it, see wasn't surprised anymore.

Ali was weird and unique, and that was just one more thing unique about him, that's what she always told herself.

After wiping away the blood, to calm down both him and herself, she raised his hand and gave his knuckles a gentle kiss.

It was effective since Ali's breathing immediately calmed down a lot as his shoulders became less tense.

Since Ezio wanted to calm the situation, she gave a small smile as she squeezed his large hand :"no need to be angry, Ali. It's something that has already happened, so we can't change anything about it. Let's go."

And of course, Ali knew about her intentions. Even though he had decided to be an impulsive person in this life, he still wasn't an idiot.

So he took in a deep breath before he nodded :"sì, hai ragione, andiamo ora (yeah, you're right, let's go now)."

As they started walking again, they finally reached the stone plague that seemed to be the last one. Ezio sighed as she nodded at Ali :"I will read this one.

A New Name:

I never saw the sea again.

Making my way to Florence, I rented a small room and then visited the bank. I had memorized Polo's account number.

With the vast sum I now had at my disposal, I went to Venice in disguise to find my father. I returned to Florence the next day. Both Polo and my father were already dead.

From that moment forward, I collected treatises on architecture, studied the classics and took vocal lessons. I adopted the name Auditore, impersonating a noble at the Florentine Court. Accepted as one of their own, I took on the trappings of nobility and constructed this villa for me and my son.

And then, I hunted them. I raised my son to fight, to find the Codex, and to kill Templars. Together, we would regain the honor of my wife and avenge the death of my father, two debts that would never, that could never, be repaid.

To the Auditore that reads this, remember that you are not a nobleman. You are not one of the deceivers, you are one of the people. Avenge us! — Domenico Auditore."

Ali didn't say anything as he made his way towards the sealed door with the assassin mark and the skull inside.

Ezio followed after him as he opened the door and walked inside. Inside the big room, there were two graves.

Ali put his hand over his chest as he bowed his head :"great great grandfather, Domenico Auditore, great grandfather, Renato Auditore, I am not an Auditore.

But my beloved is Ezio Auditore, your descendant. Even though I am not an Auditore, I swear on my name as Ali Ashborne that we will hunt down the Templars and send them to the depth of hell. You have my word. May you rest in peace."

He stood there, just breathing to calm down as Ezio also paid her respects before she smiled at him and hugged him :"Ali, no need to be mad.

Didn't you just say it yourself? We will definitely avenge them and every person who has suffered by the hands of the Templars.

Now, let's take the florins that my ancestors have left us and then get out of this crypt. We have a Templar to hunt, don't we?"

Ali smirked while gritting his teeth as he nodded :"that's right. We do have a few of them to kill."

And after emptying the chests that were in the crypt, they both got of the Auditore family crypt using the secret passage that led to the opposite of the gate way to the inside of the small city.

Ali looked back as he walked with Ezio :'ah, this is the secret passage that Ezio used to get the people of Monteriggioni out during the Borgia attack.'

He cracked his knuckles and neck as they walked together :"well, that was quite a small adventure, huh?"

Ezio let out a sigh as she nodded :"yeah, it was. I guess this means that the grudges between the Templars and my family lead back to a long time ago..."

Seeing her slightly sad face, Ali reached out and gently grabbed her hand with a gentle smile :"rancori che pagheremo, insieme (grudges that we will pay, together)."

Ezio chuckled before she looked at him and smiled as she nodded :"sì, esatto, insieme (yes, that's right, together)."

There was a moment of silence as the two just smiled and looked into each other's eyes before they slowly closed the distance.

And they shared a love filled and passionate kiss before they broke the kiss and giggled at each. Ali finally started walking and dragged the laughing Ezio with him :"come on! We have things to do, so let's go already!"

After getting two horses, the two finally made their way towards Tuscany. There were four targets that they were going to go after, so they just picked a random one to go first.

They met up with one of Mario's men who was waiting beside a church :"Ezio, Ali! About time you got here. We've found Bernardo Baroncelli."

Ezio :"Ottima notizia (This is good news)! Tell me where he is and we'll see that he's dealt with."

Mercenary :"That's the trouble. Lorenzo actually had him arrested days ago, after being returned to us from Constantinople. But he escaped! We believe him to be somewhere inside San Gimignano."

Ezio :"Va bene. (Okay.) We'll see if we can't pin him down."

Mercenary :"How do you expect to succeed where the rest of us have failed?"

Ezio smirked as she glanced at Ali who was smirking back :"we have our own way. Modi molto utili (Very useful ways)."

After they parted ways with Mario's mercenary, Ezio turned to Ali and tilted her head with a smirk :"so? Farai il tuo trucco (Are you gonna do your trick)?"

Ali chuckled as he shook his head in amusement before nodding towards a direction :"follow me. We'll find the gahba (whore)."

And that's what they did as they walked through the streets and came upon a street that guards were stationed at.

Ali snorted as he tilted his head towards Ezio :"so? Have we found the place where this bitch is at or not?"

Ezio also snorted with a smirk as she nodded :"sì, non poteva renderlo più ovvio (yeah, he couldn't make it more obvious). I'm honestly more confused about how my uncle's men didn't find him."

Ali nodded towards the roof as he started walking :"come on, the path is sealed by the guards. Unless we want to cause a commotion, we should take the rooftops."

And why would Ezio deny his true words? As they both easily climbed the walls, they saw Bernardo walking with guards beside him talking to himself :"I just need to take things one day at a time...

They'll get bored... Lost... Confused... Distracted... Killed... It'll be okay... And if they do come... If it happens... I keep moving...

Never in one place for long... Only... Only how to sleep... When to sleep... Where to sleep... The guard tower perhaps... They'll think me mad... They don't know... I'll pay them, yes...

Then what will it matter... All they care about is coin... All anyone cares about is coin... Good for the brotherhood... Good for me... Safer this way... Yes... Yes..

I'll ask ... And then... And then I will be protected... We'll meet when it's time... And I'll leave this place... Free.. In time... In time... Wait! What is that... I saw something...

Another mercenario (mercenary) come to SPY on me... No... No... Just my nerves... Hard to stay calm knowing that they seek me... I must stay focused... And soon this will be done... Soon..."

Ali snorted as he glanced at Ezio :"wow, this guy has really gone nuts, huh? Serves the gahba (whore) right."

Ezio sighed with a serious look as she observed him :"I guess that's what happens when you know that death is gonna reach you. Come on, let's finish this."

The two got down as they walked towards the paranoid Bernardo walking with his guards. They didn't want to cause a commotion, so they moved quickly as Ali assassinated the two guards behind him and Ezio stabbed him from behind.

The movement of the two were smooth and uninterrupted, so nobody noticed as Bernardo fell and Ezio held his head while he weakly spoke :"I knew you would come..."

Knowing that his time is short, Ezio didn't beat around the bush :"Where is Jacopo?"

Bernardo :"So you can do to him what you've done to me?"

Ezio :"There is still time for you to clear your conscience."

There was a moment of silence before he sighed :"We gather at the church when a meeting is called..."

But his time came as the light left his eyes and Ezio sent him off :"Mi duole dover giungere a tanto (I am sorry that it came to this). Requiescat in Pace (Rest in peace)."

Ezio laid him on the ground as she got up when a woman shouted :"AHH! MURDERER!" And since she wasn't so subtle about letting others know, the guards were also alerted as they all turned towards the two :"no, ser (sir) Bernardo! Kill them!"

Ali rolled his eyes as he and Ezio unsheathed their swords :"non il primo a dirlo, e certamente nemmeno l'ultimo (not the first one to say that, and certainly not the last one either). Get over here!"

As they rushed at them, Ali didn't have a problem in blocking the swing of a guard's sword with his sword before delivering a bone crushing kick to his guts.

As the guard yelled out in pain and was thrown to the ground, Ali gripped his sword as he swung the sharp blade at a guard who couldn't block the fast sword swing and had his head chopped off.

The citizen shouted and ran away in panic as Ali blocked another sword, but let it slide down his sword before he spun in place and stabbed the guard.

There weren't that many guards, about less than ten, so saying that it was easy for the two to take care of was an understatement as they killed the guards left and right before the guards got scared and ran away.

As they sheathed their swords, Ezio raised her eyebrow at Ali with an unimpressed look :"what happened to not causing a commotion?"

But Ali raised his hands as he shrugged :"hey, what do I have to do with it? Blame that woman who wanted to let the whole world know what just happened."

Ezio gave a quick sigh before she nodded towards a direction :"come on. Andiamocene prima che arrivino altre guardie (Let's leave before more guards arrive)."

And Ali wasn't one to deny her requests, so he followed after her as she ran towards a wall and quickly climbed it as they ran towards their next destination.

They didn't want to waste time and let the conspirators escape, so they met up with one of Mario's mercenaries who was waiting outside the Santa Maria Assunta.

Mercenary :"Salute (Hail) Ezio, Ali! Antonio Maffei has sought refuge atop the city's tallest structure – spouting scripture and arrows in equal measure. The man has clearly lost his mind.

Making matters worse, he's posted archers all around him. You'd do well to clear them out before approaching."

Ezio :"Grazie (thanks) for the information."

As the two walked towards the towers, where the bastard and his archers were standing, waiting for Ali and Ezio, Ali looked at his lover :"I don't think there's a need for both of us to go for the bastard."

And Ezio nodded :"yeah, I will take care of the archers, you kill this lie spouting bastardo (bastard)."
