Chapter 55

Aurora sat by her chambers, she smiled remembering how Caspian had stood up for her. He had went against his parents for a mere nobody such as herself.

She could not lie that the words from his parents hadn't hurt her, even though they were true. She was a lowly maid and for her to be in the presence of the king and queen was something she never thought would happen in her wildest dreams.

The love making afterwards made her blush, it was all the more special after the dinner, as it showed her how much Caspian loved her.

She gave all herself to him fully in that moment, now there were no regrets and nothing could hold her back from being with her love.

Aurora bit her lip, she needed to organize a special event for her and Caspian so that she could prophesy her love to him.

She knew that he wanted her to say those words but at her own time and accord, now she had no doubts about their relationship.

The day was beautiful and she decided to take a walk. The breeze was lovely, the sky was blue. She made her way to Elliot.

When she got to the stables, "Elliot!"

"I can hear you, there is no use in ignoring me!"

She wondered why he was not answering and she got a surprise when Caspian and Elliot walked out with a horse.

She laughed lightly, this was not what she was expecting at all. Yet her mood lifted more when Caspian came out.

He looked amazing in his horse riding outfit, and couldn't help but to look him over.

"It seems as if you and Elliot are on very good terms."

"What brings you by?"

"I have a horse riding session currently, you do know my work is not just to sit by reading scrolls all the time."

"Ah, makes sense, I will watch you then."

"Why not get a horse and we will ride side by side." Caspian replied.

"I'm afraid I can't."

"Why not?"

"I don't know how to ride a horse, Elliot said he would teach me."

"Why didn't you ask me? I would have loved to teach you."

Aurora had not thought of asking Caspian as Elliot was the one who had said he would teach her how to ride a horse, so it was always engrained in her that Elliot would be the one to teach her.

"It never crossed my mind and Elliot said he would teach me."

"Is that so?" Caspian replied in a low voice.

Aurora nodded, "Yes."

"You are quite bold Elliot, to be courting a woman that is already taken by the prince."

"Caspian stop teasing him."

"It's the truth."

"Don't confuse Elliot's kindness to something that is not there. If your intention is for us to be jittery around each other, that will not work."

"Do you want to start lessons now?" finally Elliot spoke.

"I would......…"

Before she could respond, Caspian had taken over, "She will ride with me today."

Aurora was more than excited to be riding with Caspian, she turned to Elliot, "I will be back and we can chat then."

Elliot nodded, "I will be waiting."

Caspian climbed on the black sable and held out his hand for Aurora which she took and he helped her up and she was seated in front of him.

He wrapped his arms around her as he took the reigns of the horse, they set off and she looked around her.

Being in Caspian's arms was making her focus on him and their love making. Why was she having those thoughts right now of all times.

Aurora felt a kiss on her cheek, "You are not listening to me are you?"

"Did you say something?"

"Yes Aurora I did but it seems as if your mind is occupied, are you thinking of another?"

"Of course not."

"Then what has got your head in the clouds?"

"Last night." She was getting hot all over at her admission. Caspian held her tighter in his arms,

"Hopefully we can do it again tonight, I want a lot of children you know."

Aurora giggled, "I need to focus on horse-riding."

"You are the one who started it." Caspian replied laughing.

They rode up until the end of the forest, Caspian got down and he lifted her down, and set her gently on the ground.

He took her hand and they went up to the edge of the mountain, the view was beautiful and she had never seen such a sight.

"What do you think?"

"It's beautiful Caspian."

"I'm glad you like it, this is the first time that I have ever bought someone here. It's my special place to think or when I need a break from it all."

"I am honoured that you are sharing your space with me."

"You have become my touchstone Aurora, I find my escape through you."

Caspian went behind her and wrapped her around his arms. She looked out and everything felt perfect, actually too perfect.

They made their way back, and this time she rode behind him with her arms wrapped around his waist. He went fast and she laughed enjoying the thrill of it all.

They got back, and Caspian kissed her, he headed back to his work place and she to her villa. It was late, night time came and Caspian did not show up, there was no word from him.

The next morning she woke up as Eleanor was knocking frantically on her door.

"Come in."

Eleanor fell into her room, "My lady, the prince is going to war in the front lines, in a few weeks time."

Aurora felt cold all over and realised this is why she had not heard from him last night, if he was going to be in the front lines there was a chance that he would get killed.

He would also be wearing a different attire which meant that they would know he is the prince and a very high target.

She felt numb and pain was surging through her, the whole day Aurora spent in her room.

Aurora was surprised when the door opened, and Caspian walked in. She had been in her thoughts that she did not hear him being announced.

He closed the door of her bed chambers and he also had worry on his face, "You heard the news."

Caspian went back to his and got refreshed, when he was done, he was told that his father wanted to see him urgently.

He had gone to the dining hall and there was dinner, he sat down sceptically. "You called for me father."

"Let's eat first, then discuss later."

Caspian nodded, he knew when his father insisted they eat first that the news would be very heavy and he did not want to ruin his appetite.

When they finished eating his father looked at him, "You have to go to war Caspian."

Caspian wasn't surprised, this was the moment that he had prepared for all his life to prove that he was king worthy.

He always thought that he did not care about going to war but that had changed with Aurora in the picture, how long would he be separated from her?

"The barbarians have invaded the north side of the land and if they are not stopped it could lead to very devasting consequences."

Caspian nodded, "Yes father, I accept your command. It would be an honor to serve this country."

His father seemed to be happy with his response and willingness to go, but if he did not go who would lead his man to war? He had to protect his people and it would not be fair to send other men from their families and he not go.

"You are making me proud son"

"Thank you father."

"Your mother and I will welcome you with a banquet when you come back."

"Your gratitude is very much welcomed."

When the dinner was finished, he headed back to his chambers, how would he face Aurora with such news?
