Maid To Bea

The sudden storming in of a figure caused my whole figure jolting, gaze shifting to the doorway where a form came pushing in. Somewhat familiar, It didn't take long for me recognising him—the same boy from yesterday, advancing towards me, his eyes never for once evaded my profile. His hair remained ruffled, jaw clutching tight, gaze held strongly on my form. Anger sure filled his eyes. I noticed that so well. "Where's the money?!" His voice travelled into my ears, tone loud. "What money?" My own voice came out weak, low and barely audible even for my ears. "Don't play games with me. I know you took the money." He said almost immediately. "I don't know what you're talking about." I defended, trying to walk away, but his hold on my wrist pulled me back to the position I was. My eyes shifted to the area of my skin which he had just touched, staring at it like something acidic had grazed there. A brief silence filled the air, and just then, he began moving towards me, eyes matching mine. "I don't know who let you in my room" He began, words pouring out one after the other, while he inched closer to my figure. "but you and I know very well that you took that money." At this point, I was already backing the wall, and had nowhere to go. "You'll pay me my money. That's for certain. I don't care how you're gonna do it, but YOU WILL PAY ME." I heard call in a low voice. His face was just a finger away from mine, and for certain I could feel his breath fanning against my skin. "Nia, have you seen-" A voice from nowhere spoke, with Denna stumbling in, freezing at the sight in front of her-- The boy peering intently at me, hovering over my figure, while I remained like a lost puppy begging to be rescued. His eyes remained fixed on me, and the anger resting there was just too obvious. "The name's Nia, huh?" He uttered, pronouncing my name carefully. For some reason, it sounded so soothing to my ears. The way it rolled off his tongue. “You owe me, Nia”

The day seemed really long.

Eyes glancing at my wristwatch once again to know the time, as every part of me was eager to get off this seat.

Miss Clara, the history teacher wasn't even helping matters at all. At every word she uttered I could feel myself zoning out.

I was over here in History class, and I must say it's the most ear-aching subject I've ever taken.

Glancing at the students around me, some appeared to be sleeping off, some peered out the window, out looking the field ahead, others conversed with whoever was nearby, anything but paying attention to the history teacher was done at this very moment.

The sound of the bell rang, got every student up their feet, a sigh escaping my lips at the save of break hour. Students hurried out of class at once, Miss Clara yelling for us to take a stop, yet, no one seemed to pay the woman any attention.

Break hour meant break hour. Not even the authority of a teacher could stop the feet of food-longing students.

"Don't forget your Assignment" Miss Clara yelled.

But no one paid attention to her. It was finally time for lunch, and that was all that mattered.

I packed my books immediately, running out of the classroom, as I hurried into the hallway.

My feet stopped just in time before colliding with another. It took a brief moment for me taking notice of the figure opposite, and the instant my eyes connected with the profile, a low sigh escaped my lips.

Feet away stood Savannah eyes boring into mine, while she remained right in front of me blocking my path.

This time, there was a girl with her.

"Hey" She cooed, batting her eyelashes hard, while passing yet again that fake smile of hers.

"You know, you didn't tell me your name" She uttered.

"It's Nia" I responded at once, already getting impatient, as the grumblings from my belly urged me to get to the cafeteria at that minute.

"Nia" She pronounced my name with much emphasis.

"That's a very nice name. It's unique" She uttered, turning to look at the girl right next to her.

I gave a little smile, moving past their figures as I proceeded away.

"Is she the maid?" I heard her friend say, stopping in my tracks as soon as the words left her mouth.

Turning around to have a look at the both of them, I noticed a smile on the face of Savannah.

In her eyes rested amusement, while in mine was sadness, pain.

"Yes Kayla, She's the maid" Savannah uttered at once.

"She sure looks like one" the girl named Kayla uttered after her, eyes accessing me from head to toe.

It took everything in me not to break down in tears, my gaze already turning weak as I stared on at the girls, listening to the burning words that rolled out of their lips.

The students in the hallway soon turned their attention to us, while Kayla and Savannah began advancing towards me, step after step.

"For what reason are her feet on the grounds of Greenville" Kayla spoke, eyes turning to Savannah who let out a low laugh afterwards.

The tears that threatened to spill were already staining my cheeks.

Savannah soon moved closer, touching me softly on the arms, eyes never leaving mine.

"Sorry, if you think we're being mean to you" She began

"I mean, you find a pretty girl in high school and at once every one terms her the villain" She sighed.

"The only thing is.....She took a pause, turning to Kayla.

"Should we let her know?"

"Of course, we should" Kayla responded immediately, eyes rolling in the process.

Savannah turned to me, expression suddenly changed to a serious one.

"The truth is, you don't fit in here, Nia"

"This place.....this school isn't for people like you"

I stared blankly at her, watching the amusement in her eyes, the joy she felt at how bad she made me feel, and almost immediately, her gaze shifted from my figure on to something else behind me.

At once. she tried comporting herself.

Why did she suddenly turn uneasy?

I got the answer to my question as someone's arms snaked around my shoulders from behind, the hold on me firm, yet warm.

My head turned immediately to see who it was, and I was met with beautiful blue eyes. There was no expression whatsoever on his face. He just stared into my eyes.

The jaw of Savannah dropped at once, eyes broadening at the sight of Cameron pulling my figure closer to his.

What' exactly was he doing?

"Hey" his words came out in whispers, fanning into my ears.

Every gaze remained causing me turning uneasy for a moment, but the instant I stared into those ever calm blue eyes, all energy returned back, warmth rushing inside of me.

"I wanna ask you a question" He uttered in a very low voice, gaze still locked in mine.

"Wanted to save it for later, but I guess now's the perfect time" He added

I fell silent, just staring into his eyes, ears attentive to his words.

"Will you be my date to prom?" He muttered quietly.

A sharp gasp left Savannah's lips at once, her eyes widening at his figure.

Meanwhile, I stated into his eyes, not believing his words, not believing any of this was happening.

His gaze remained on my figure, perhaps awaiting an answer.

Was he actually being serious?

"I want you to be my date to prom" I heard him say.

On his face was a smile. Hardly noticeable but it was there and my eyes held onto it.

"Will you?" He asked yet again.

"Yes" I muttered quietly, my voice barely audible.

The grin on his lips grew wider, eyes peering into mine. I saw his eyes move to my lips, and for a moment, I thought he was gonna kiss me, not until he took his arms off my shoulders, turning away.

"You can't be serious, Cameron" Savannah blurted out, eyes fixed on his figure.

"No way you're taking her to prom" She added, placing much stress on 'her'

"I think I'm free to do whatever I want Savannah" Cameron responded at once, walking off afterwards.

Savannah soon turned her gaze to me the instant he was away.

"So that's the reason you're here. You leper!" She spat at my figure, fuming and storming off, with Kayla right by her side.

The stares coming from the students around soon got me walking away, trying to evade their burning gazes.

Whatever have I gotten into?
