10 Cursed Ones part 2

" Well there goes my money" Izzy lamented looking at the pile of dust at her feet.

She felt a bit woozy from the burst of power she emitted from the crystal.

" Can I start practising now?" she asked, as the sun had gone down.

[ Negative. The host must rest first before training can begin.]

Izzy sighed and flopped down on the bed and closed her eyes. She immediately drifted off into sleep.

In her dreams, Izzy was in a dark place. There was no sound and it was unbearably cold.

" Hello," she said and her voice echoed and suddenly she heard a scream from all around her. The darkness warped into houses, burning houses and people running all away.

Men, woman and children ran towards Izzy passing right through her. She watched as people fell and were engulfed by the flames. In the chaos, Izzy felt the earth rumble and then...

BANG!

An explosion went off, wiping out everyone in the vicinity and leaving nothing alive.

" Wake up!" Izzy felt a slap on her face and she sat up.

She was breathing heavily and her entire body was sweaty.

" Oww," she complained as she saw the tiny body of Theonymphi flying before her.

" I thought you ran away," she said and Theonymphi coughed.

" Well, I can't exactly run. Since you know, I'm your servant and second of all, I realise that I was in the wrong. I took advantage of your openness. I am well aware of how, infringing mind searching is, but I guess I was a bit...."

He trailed off and Izzy raised her brow.

" Is this supposed to be an apology?" Izzy narrowed her eyes at him. The feeling of having her mind invaded was still fresh.

Theonymphi was silent. " Yes," he said fidgeting and avoided Izzy's gaze.

Izzy looked at the little flying creature and sighed. " Fine I'll forgive you, but if you do something like this again. I'll make sure your punishment is worse than before."

Theonymphi gulped remembering what had happened the previous day. It felt like his ears and head would explode, from the sound and he looked cautiously at the black box lying beside Izzy.

" I will be on my best behaviour," he said saluting her and Izzy felt his change of attitude was quite rapid and funny.

" Good because today I am starting my training," Izzy said with determination.

" Ah, do you know what spell path you're going to take?" he asked, even though he had searched Izzy's mind. He knew exactly what her magical affinity and power level was and was very interested to see what path she would take.

Izzy looked up at him confused.

" You don't know do you?"

She nodded and he sighed.

" How can you be so weak but that black box so powerful?" he muttered under his breath.

" Well, judging by your magical affinity and level. The Song of Thunder would suit you since you have a lightning affinity, which is very rare. Or, since you are also so fortunate to have a clear affinity you can practice earth, water, fire and air magic. "

" Can't I practice all?" Izzy said excitedly.

" No that would be impossible. The number of magical spells you would have to learn would be overwhelming, especially for a human. I suggest you learn some basic spells and focus on mastering one affinity completely".

Izzy frowned but agreed since Theonymphi seemed to be more knowledgeable than her.

He flew back and nodded his head like he was thinking about something.

Then a bell-like sound escaped his mouth and a bunch of books appeared out of thin air. They fell onto the bed. Some of the books fell on top of Izzy as she failed to dodge.

" Hey!" she grumbled and felt like Theonymphi was taking revenge on her since this morning for punishing him.

" These are the most suitable book for you," he said with a smile and Izzy wondered what he was trying to achieve being so generous to her.

" Are you sure you want to give this to me?"

" Well, I can't be bound to a weak and unworthy master now can I?"

" Right," she said realising that in Theonymphi's eyes she was a weak human who wasn't worthy enough to be his master.

The phone beside Izzy beeped and she picked it up.

[ Tangible resources detected.

Would the host like to scan them?

Yes or No?]

Izzy directed the camera towards the books and said " Yes"

The blue light sprung from the camera lens and scanned all the books. Theonymphi flew back in surprise.

" Wh-what is it doing?" he asked wide-eyed.

" Scanning the books"

Theonymphi looked at Izzy, her explanation didn't exactly help as he didn't know what it meant.

[Scan complete]

Theonymphi gasped as all the books on the bed disappeared.

" Ah! It ate my books!" he exclaimed.

Izzy chuckled, " No they're all here." She held the screen up and Theonymphi flew over. He inspected the phone and saw the covers of the book depicted on the screen.

" Is this some magical storage space?" he asked.

" In a sense," Izzy said.

" I knew I shouldn't have been so generous" he sulked.

[ The host can attempt to merge with the knowledge in these books.

Yes or No?" ]

Izzy pressed yes.

There was a moment of static in the air. Then a bunch of information flooded Izzy's brain. She experienced a feeling akin to brain freeze. Once the information solidified in her mind, an overwhelming hunger took over her and her stomach grumbled.

" Woah" she said blinking rapidly.

The system beeped once again.

[ Merging successful: The information is now at the host's disposal.

" Wow that was uncomfortable " she muttered holding her head and then her stomach.

She was hungry and had no food or money for food. Izzy pouted and Theonymphi asked.

" What's wrong?"

" I'm hungry" Izzy responded, rubbing her empty belly. Theonymphi smugly smiled.

" What?" she said looking up at him.

" Well, while I errr you know left last night. I took a trip down to the kitchen and may or may not have borrowed some food. Since I too was hungry"

Izzy narrowed her eyes " Borrowed? I think you mean stole".

Theonymphi rolled his eyes " Let's not be technical".

Izzy looked at him and felt her stomach grumble again. She licked her lips.

" I'm willing to overlook your stealing if you ummm…. care to share".

Theonymphi smiled and let out a single bell sound and bread along with cheese appeared in the air. The bread and cheese fell into Izzy's hands and without a second thought she scarfed it down.

She had not released how hungry she was until the food entered her mouth and Theonymphi watched her, astounded at her lack of manners.

He shook his head and sighed. " I truly am unlucky" …
