Sophia POV

I was sitting across from Grandma McGonagall while she relayed the information about my father to me. It was at the height of the war when I was born and he was a squib apparently. Which meant that he was banished from his family but mama loved him anyway they were young and idealistic. The death eaters came for them and they split up ma ran for Grans help and Da he ran in hopes of drawing the death eaters away from her. He didn't even know she was pregnant. I was born on July 31st 1980 just two hours before Harry Potter. This meant I wasn't the chosen one but Ma was still hunted and tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange.

"Sophia it has taken me 28 years to find your father and for that I apologize, but I have finally managed to find him. This unfortunately is due to your mother finally passing away and the goblins releasing her will to be read." Grandma said this as a tear slid down her cheek losing Mama was hard for her. First it was gramps then ma, I have no idea how she is still holding on but my gran is strong that is for sure. 

It has been 10 years since the second Wizarding war and things have finally settled enough for information to be easily relayed from one magical government to the other.

"As you know we didn't know much about your father due to your mother protecting him and keeping his name to herself. I have finally be able to access her will and got a name for you. His name is Filip Telford he is a squib who fled to America. He is living the life of a muggle, I have already contacted the MACUSA so you can head there as soon as your ready darling girl."

I felt the tears collect in my eyes and then fall down my face as I dove into my grandmas arms. She just held me as I cried while rubbing my back in slow circles. It took a few moments but I calmed down enough to finally say, "Thank you Gran, I love you!"

It took me about a week to pack and say bye to my friends. Harry wasn't happy to see me go but he never was. Things had been interesting between us for awhile after we decided to stop dating. Things worked out between us once he started dating Ginny.

He was watching Teddy for me while I take this trip.

Remus and Tonks made us his godparents after all. I had custody of Teddy due to him being an auror and needing to be in the field. I told him I would be back in about a month if all went well.

I was at the international port key/floo office with Harry, Grandma and Teddy saying goodbye when Teddy wrapped his arms around my waist and said, "Hurry back Mama I'll miss you."

With tears in my eyes I hugged him back and said, "I will little guy keep your pops out of trouble for me and Mama Ginny. Ok?"

He giggled at that but said, "I will!"

Grandma hugged us both and said, "safe travels my little love."

Harry wrapped his arms around me tightly and said, "Go find your dad I got things here. Be safe and remember to call us on the mirror every night for Teddy's bedtime."

I hugged him back hard. We may not be a couple anymore but he is still one of my best friends we have been through so much together and you can't get rid of a love like that. I kissed his cheek and said, "I should be back soon if things go well I might want to move but we will discuss that if it happens. I love you Harry take care of yourself, Teddy, Ginn and Gran for me will you?"

"I will now go before you miss your time window call us tonight let us know your safe."

With that I activated my port key and I was off to America to find my father. 

After arriving in the New York MACUSA office I registered my wand and headed to the local branch for Gringotts bank.

Walking up to the goblin I said, "I'm here to apply for a card to be linked to my accounts for my stay here, my name is Sophia McGonagall. 

"Ah yes Ms. McGonagall we have been expecting you. Your account manager Griphook has sent ahead the appropriate papers we are just waiting for your signature." 

I signed the papers and within the next twenty minutes I had my new card and proper identification for myself while here in the states. I looked at the goblin and asked, "Would it be possible to use you floo? I have to get to the California branch so I can be closer to my destination." 

The goblin gave a toothy smile and said, "That will be no problem Ms. McGonagall, please follow me." 

We walked in silence to the floo transfer room and I left for California is a flash of green flames. I arrived in the CA branch of Gringotts in Sacramento said my greetings the the goblins asked for a car from my vaults to be brought out and set out on my journey to Charming. It wasn't a particularly long or short drive, when I finally saw the welcome to Charming sign as I passed the town boarder. I decided to stop at the local diner for some lunch and a pit stop before I head to the address I have for my father. 

While sitting in the booth I noticed a group of bikers walk in a man with grey hair speaks up and says, "Hey, April I need those pie's Gem called in for or she is gonna have my ass."

I heard laughter from who I assume is April before she says, "Now that would be a shame, no one wants to Gem angry. Here are your pies Clay" 

That was about the time that I noticed a man with short curly black hair and blue eyes had slid in the booth across from me and said, "Well hello there sweet cheeks, I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name?"

I had delt with these types before being as I am the heir to two noble houses now possibly three I have fielded my fair share of smarmy men so I just smiled politely and said, "One I don't appreciate being called sweet cheeks and two I don't feel the need to give you my name as I don't know you at all."

He smirked and said, "Well aren't you a fisty one." I just scoffed at that when I heard the man Clay yell "Come on Tig we are leaving."

To which Tig just sighed and said, "He is always getting in my way when it comes to a beautiful women." he sighed after this but winked at me and said, "Maybe next time." as he strutted out of the shop. 

It didn't take me long to finish up my lunch so I paid the bill and headed for my car. I made it to Teller-Marrow repair shop and sat in my car for a few seconds grabbing the folder that contained my mothers will and my birth certificate from Gringotts and got out to face my father. As head of house Ross and acting head of house McGonagall I have to notify my father of his wife's passing this is going to be hard. 

I step into the office and see a dark haired women with highlights sitting behind the desk she is on the phone but holds up her hand to indicate that she just needs a minute, so I sit down to wait. She is finished rather quickly and says, "What can I help you with sweetheart?" 

Smiling at her I say, "I am looking for a Filip Telford, I have some news about his family that I have to relay to him." 

This caused her to look puzzled but said, "Give me a sec." before she headed out the back door and I heard her yell "Chibs you got a lady up here saying she has news about your family that she has to relay to you."

It didn't take long for Chibs to come into the office he looked at me with confusion on his face and said, "I don know what you need to tell me lass but my family want nothing to do with me. So whatever it is you have to say make it quick." 

I looked at the man that is my father and wanted to start with that but the women walked back in and sat down while looking at me. I took a breath and said, "This conversation is better had in private do you have some where we can talk or I can meet you at the hotel I am staying at in the conference room after you get off work."

My father looked at me for a short while took a breath and said, "Follow me lass" I followed him through the building into what looked to be a bar. My father told a blond looking young man that he would be borrowing the chapel for a few and led me through a set of doors before sitting down at a massive table. 

I followed suit and laid the folder with my mothers will down on the table in front of me. After getting settled in I said, "Fist and for most I have the responsibility as the head of house Ross and representative of house McGonagall to inform you of the passing of you wife Clarissa Telford."

I was about to continue when my father stopped me by saying, "What do you mean death she died almost 29 years ago if this is how slow the magical government works than ya are slow as shit." 

I sighed and said, "This is rather difficult for me to relay but she didn't die 29 years ago she died about a month ago due to the complications of the crutiatis curse that was placed on her by Bellatrix Lestrange 29 years ago she has been in St Mungo's in their curse care unit for sever mental trauma. The government would have notified you as soon as she began care but we had no idea of your name until her death triggered the goblins to release her will to be read." 

I could tell my father was shaken by this news because he looked like a man thrown out to sea without a life raft and was about to drown. With tears in his eyes and voice he said, "I thought she was dead that she didn't get away, but I never would have expected that she was still alive all these years. Why didn't anyone reach out to me? She was my wife!" His fist hit the table causing it to shake. 

I looked at him with a sad smile and said, "She had sealed the families spousal tapestry so your name was blurred and set it up so that the goblins would only release her will after her death. So we didn't know who you were. All we knew was that you were from the Telford line do to the blood line test administered to your daughter." 

This caused him to stand up with shock and say, "I have a daughter where is she? I have to see her, I won't be kept from her even if I am a squib. Please you have to take me to her she is the last thing i have of Clari."

The sobs shook him now they were unbearable I couldn't keep up with my heir duties now so I walked around the table and took his hand and said, "No one is trying to keep me from you. We just have to get through the procedures before we can get to the hugging Da." 

He looked up at me with tears still running down his cheeks and said, "Your my daughter? I should have know you look just like your Ma." His fingers traced my cheek as he smiled. I placed my hand over his bringing his had to cup my cheek as I nuzzled into his touch. We stood there in silence for a few minutes before I cleared my throat and said, "We should get the formalities out of the way so I can send them off and we can get to know one another we have a lot of catching up to do."
