ORIENTATION

"Welcome to orientation!! I am teacher Kyle, and I am going to know about you guys. So, you all will need instructions to develop your magic correctly. The right way, the only way, The Sage Way. Well not everyone uses the sage way."

A girl with pink eyes and reddish-brown hair raised her hand and teacher Kyle gestured for her to say what she had to say.

" Sir, you said the only way is the sage way, but why did you also say 'not everyone uses the sage way?' "

"Not all schools use the sage way, only the sage students. Moving on...…. our school has seven distinct schools based on the seven types of talents.

We have the Nature magic, those who use harness the power of nature .

The shape shifters, those who change their form. The witches and wizards, those who learn…..well…I am not a wizard teacher anyway but I think you all have ideas of what witches and wizards do. Fuzzies ,who communicate with the animal kingdom, Dark magicians, who use dark magic and darkness to eliminate their enemies.

Light magicians, who heal and use radiation from the sun to fight and the non-elementals, who don't possess magic but use weapons to fight."

A purple eyed, heart faced, purple haired girl said,

" So ….how do we know which talent you belong to?"

" I am from the Addams family of vampires. I was accepted as a student here when I was ten years old...and since then I have been here." he answered.

" Awwwwn.... that's sad," the purple haired girl said sadly.

"Tell me about yourself, Lady. " he said, raising an eyebrow.

She cleared her throat and started,

"I was born as the third child of the Lendorr family.

My name is Rosemary. I was always left alone and my parents didn't seem to love me at all. My elder sisters and my parents secluded me from the world, they thought I was a useless piece of space.

I wanted to commit suicide, but was stopped by my aunt who advised them to take me to this school . That's how I got here."

"Who's your aunt? Joanna?" Mr. Kyle asked curiously.

" No, she's Lola, the twin sister of Lily the Legendary."

"Who else wants to try?"

He asked.

"Me," Angelina said, and teacher Kyle gestured for her to go on. " I was born as the ninth child of the Star family. I was very loved and pampered but what I really wanted was to go for a holiday overseas.

One day, I begged my parents for two hours and they refused straight to my face. I was pissed and wouldn't eat or drink...hmmm.....my parents finally agreed.

I was on a tour to the Jurassic museum and as I looked at the great and extinct Thylacine(Terrarium tiger) I suddenly got sucked into a portal and appeared here.

"Anyone else," teacher Kyle asked and Alicia started hers.

" I am Alicia, from the family of Sounzaman, I have been the first and last child of my parents, and they adored me.

I got lost on my way to my aunt's place and that's how I got here."

After the others had introduced themselves , I was the only one left. He stared at me for a second, and said,

"Lady, please introduce yourself."

I was out of words , but I started anyway. Afterall, I hate being the center of attraction.

" I was born to the wealthiest family in the neighborhood, they named me Rachael because my Grandmother was Rachael and they just wanted to remember her.

I was out with my classmates…we were going back home when a portal appeared above our heads and sucked us in. "

The students lifted their gazes off me , and I could finally breathe in relief. Suddenly the teacher burst out laughing. I didn't know the cause of it , but I was sure his laughter didn't sound right.

"Hahahahahahaha....you might be able to fool them, but.... you can't fool me. Maybe you don't know, but vampires can sniff out lies. And ….you, Young lady just lied through your teeth. " teacher Kyle said matter-of-factly.

" It's part of the orientation, you have to tell us about yourself. Lying once again…the consequences would be disastrous. " He said with a stern tone.

I didn't want to say anything , but I finally gave in and started talking after taking a few deep breaths.

" I was raised by my Grand aunt, on a frozen lake, a thousand miles from nowhere. She was a kind woman. And taught me many beautiful things.

One brisk afternoon, fishing on the frozen lake, a large form approached. It was a grizzly. My Grand aunt yelled at me to run. So I took off, as fast as my little legs could carry me.

And when I looked back, I learned the last thing that my unfortunate grand aunt would ever teach me. Bears have very sharp claws, which they use to flay the skin of their still living victims."

" I say this…because I won't hear your screams, when I flay you the same way that bear did my Grand Aunt, when next you threaten me , Vampire or not. Any feelings I once had died on that frozen lake. " I added, my voice cold and devoid of any emotions as I stared hard at the vampire teacher.

The hall became deadly silent. Not even the sounds of breathing could be heard. The teacher looked back at me with fear vivid in his eyes. Maybe because he didn't want to look bad in front of the students, he composed himself.

After some minutes of silence teacher Kyle said ,

" As I was saying....you all are going to take a placement test in some minutes time...and some people...few people in fact will be taking another placement test to see if you are qualified for our honors level classes…ummm….. lucky people will take the sage exam to be in our sage classes, on par with our seniors.

After your tests some of you may have a familiar (a guard animal,who will experience life and death with its master.

Good luck!!!

You can have your breakfast before your placement test...now… chap!chap.!"

He clapped his hands twice, and disappeared immediately from the hall.

The students all packed their stuff and hurried out of the hall . I was the last to leave. During breakfast, my roommates didn't try to communicate with me , and I was thankful for that. My emotions were explosive at the moment, and I didn't want them to take its brunt. This wasn't my home, and they all weren't normal. I didn't want to die, yet….

After breakfast we gathered in a hall , which had a door to another room where the placement test would take place. Soon, some students were called in .

There was a beautiful light every time someone entered,and in three seconds the light was gone again. One after the other, the amount of students in the hall reduced till I was the only one standing.

My name was called and I entered the hall . Behind a table on a platform, sat some people in white. Females and males, old and young. In front of them was a see-through mirror, which looked like a waterfall.

" Miss… Rachael, please stand in front of the mirror," a lady with long, curly blue hair, light blue eyes and a circular face said to me.

When I stood in front of the mirror the light shone again, but it lasted for three minutes.

"Miss Rachael please take your card and wait in the quad, " the lady with blue hair said, with a smile.

I walked up to the platform, and collected the card from her before moving towards the direction she pointed me to.

After some minutes, the headmaster and the other teachers came out. The headmaster cleared her throat, before speaking,

"Students, your results are out and.... congrats. You all made it to our honors level classes. And some people were able to make it to our sage level placement test.

Rachael Rodriguez,Alicia Sounzaman, Angelina Star, Charles and Camilla Macaulay, Francis Abernathy, Edmund Corcoran and Henry Winter.

Any…. questions?"

I raised my hand and asked,

" Could there be a mistake? Why am I here? Can't I go back home?"

"That's actually three questions...anyway. Firstly , there's no mistake. Secondly , you've been chosen to make your beautiful talent stronger. Lastly,there's no turning back unless you have finished your schooling here.

Take an example of….. teacher Kyle he has been here since he was ten. And after the incident… he lost his magic and he can never return to earth. Have I made myself clear?"

The headmaster retorted with a speck of anger in her voice.

' What Incident?! This situation has become more alarming! This looks more like kidnapping!' I thought, as I looked at the slightly fuming Headmaster with indifference.
