"We want to talk about the future of Squad 0." (Jillian)
In the backroom of the gymnasium, Yaku and Vlad sat across from Jillian and Micheal. They stared at eachother as an odd feeling circulated back and forth. Neither side knew what to do with the other. A massive misunderstanding.
"I don't know what to say... After you almost killed Jack... I don't know if I want to listen to you." (Yaku)
Micheal sat staring off somewhere else, his face dumb and mindless, like a lost dog. Jillian leaned forward in his chair.
"That wasn't a request... But, I'll humor you, and explain our perspective before I go into all the details." (Jillian)
"I'm not here to be humored. I'm not here for anything at all. I'm just slightly pissed off." (Yaku)
He turned to Vlad.
"Let Vlad here touched you with his magic. He'll essences if I can trust you or not." (Yaku)
Jillian stuck out his arm.
"Fine." (Jillian)
Vlad drunkenly held out his hand over Jillian's arm. He used his magic.
"Vitality Sight!" (Vlad)
He saw into his soul, his mind, his heart.
"He's good. His magic isn't very sinister, actually..." (Vlad)
He looked closer.
"His magic is quite calm, and his soul is stable, more stable than yours Yaku." (Vlad)
Yaku still looked pissed, his face gearing off toward the open door, as Emma carried Jack out of the building and to a nearby hospital.
"So you trust us now?" (Jillian)
"A little bit..." (Yaku)
"Then let me tell you our story. We are born to kill. Not monsters... But humans. This guy over here, Micheal. He was raised from when he was a kid to now, all in the pursuit of becoming a killing machine. So don't be offended by his quiet dumb nature. He's quite tame and doesn't bite. Meanwhile..." (Jillian)
He turned to the locked up Tom, his mouth drooling with anger.
"That's Tom. He's kinda an idealist. Believes in absolutes, and he may have anger issues. The only reason he stays on our team is because his magic is exceptional at tracking other magics and Sorcerers. He's also the grandson of the Grand Sorcerer, so he gets his magic from him. And lastly, I want to talk about, the new person in charge of us. Sin..." (Jillian)
Jillian turned soft, his eyes depressed down as his long legs and arms curled into a squeezed regret.
Yaku noticed his change in stature and tone.
"Is she really that bad?" (Yaku)
"No, she's... What can I say... She's a change. A good change...? I don't know... I can't tell what's up with her... You see, The Rouge Sorcerer Extermination Squad used to be run by the Grand Sorcerer. But then he took control of the entirety of the Magic Force and the Squad was passed on to Toby. Toby used to be apart of your squad, the Special Magic Squad." (Jillian)
Yaku and Vlad both leaned in intrigued.
"Toby led us like we were assassins. We took out Rogue Sorcerers and national criminals across countries and continents. We were hidden in the shadows. And Toby, he... He only did jobs for the higher-ups in the Magic Force. We all respected him, but then... Six months ago... You know what happened. We were forced to leave our shadows. We were tasked with taking out the rest of The Hight Tueurs. Except this time, Toby went against the higher-ups. He decided to take a vacation. He said it was because of his girlfriend, but I think it's because of the higherup's decision to excommunicate Colt. And now we are left with Sin... She... I'll start off with her magic, because, well she should have been apart of the Special Magic Force, but I think Toby took her in when he left you guys, cause you see... Her magic... It's scary... Whenever she looks at someone, she can see into their future." (Jillian)
"Like see the future or see her own future?" (Yaku)
"Neither. She can see other people's futures. And not just the future-future. She can see exactly when they die." (Jillian)
---
"Sin... I want you to tell me again... Has anything changed?" (Toby)
Sin with her plain stone-cold face looked up at Toby's face. Their faces five feet apart. Staring at eachother. White, brown. Toby took off his round glasses. He slowly placed them in his pockets. He stepped closer. His face serious, different, sad.
Her hands by her side. She turned away. Her face looking exactly the same. Unemotional. She walked over to a wall near the other end of the back hallway. She looked at all the pipes circling the ceiling. She looked at the wires crossing into the janitor's closet, to the back door leading to the open outside. She walked to a corner. Yaku followed.
"Will you tell me? I need to-" (Toby)
"It's the same." (Sin)
---
Half an hour later. Jack woke up in the hospital.
"Where am I?" (Jack)
He looked at the ceiling. The beeping. He looked to his right. Emma and Chil standing next to each other. Looking at the bandaged man in front of them.
A doctor walked in, her balled-up blonde hair, with a long doctor's outfit hanging loose. She walked up to Jack, her hands in her pockets.
"Hi, Jack. My name is Shein. I am a Sorcerer Doctor. I work for the Magic Force." (Shein)
Jack looked at his injuries. They were nonexistent. He was perfectly healed.
"Your lucky Jack." (Shein)
She turned to Emma.
"If she hadn't rushed you here, you would have sustained life-threatening injuries. And luckily I was on staff today and was free to treat you. You are one lucky fellow." (Shein)
Jack moved his legs and arms.
"But how am I healed?" (Jack)
"I healed you. I'm a Second-Class Sorcerer with healing magic... But I am retired from the Magic Force, so I don't work with them anymore." (Shein)
"Oh uh... Thanks... I..." (Jack)
He looked at his palms. His fight with that man. How he was useless against him. His magical spikes. His power. It was like a machine. A killing monster...
"Emma? What happened after I... I lost..." (Jack)
Emma stepped up as Shein walked out of the room to give them some space.
"We'll Toby stepped in. He saved you. And I carried you to the hospital." (Emma)
"Oh... Um... Thanks..." (Jack)
"No problem." (Emma)
They stared at eachother. A soft quiet tension floated between their gazes. Chil slowly stepped out of the room.
"I'll just leave you two alone." (Chil)
---
Back at the Magic Training Gymnasium.
Toby and Sin stormed into the back rooms.
"Ok. Are you four ready for round two." (Toby)
"Were still doing this?" (Yaku)
"Yes. Think of it as an ice breaker. I'm leaving Sin in charge while I go out and check on Jack." (Toby)
He slowly walked away with his hands in his pockets before quickly turning back.
"Oh, and before I go, I want to mention something. Yesterday we got a lead on the location of a man in a white mask performing magic tricks with playing cards." (Toby)
