Mage's Academy

Have you ever opened a book and immediately regretted it? I'm sure you have. Have you gotten a papercut from said book? If it wasn't an e-book, chances are likely. Now, have you ever bled on a page of this book and have it download onto your phone? Odds are, probably not. Jason has though. The moment the app Mage's Academy appeared, he knew he should have deleted it. But you know the saying: curiosity makes a crazy redhead fall through a hole in your phone and land in your lap. That's not a saying? If finding out magic was real and most MMORPG's were tailored after it wasn't enough, Jason gets attacked by flesh eating rabbits, found out he couldn't die or he'd just respawn, and was chased out of his cushy park ranger job by blood cultists. All in all, not cool. Join Jason as he deals with the hand that's been dealt to him as he hits the road with Selena, his feisty redhead phone hopping goddess, and a police officer that's well... not a police officer. Enjoy!

Chapter Thirteen

When he went downstairs, he saw Selena crouching on the couch, her head barely above the frame of the window. Jason read the situation and kept low midway on the stairs. "What's going on?"

"Remember what I said about others finding out about the book?" She looked serious. Her eyes glued to the window. "That thud was them throwing something at the house. I'm not sure what it was, but I can sense power from it."

Jason attempted to look past her to the window. He activated his 'daylight sight' skill. Suddenly the pitch black from the window cleared and he saw ten people outside his home. "Shit!" His eyes went to the swords and bows within their hands. They all looked normal except the weapons, all of which were way higher in quality than what he currently had.

"Yeah, shit." Selena said as she looked back at him. "You've improved slightly, but everyone out there is currently level seven and eight. You wouldn't stand a chance." She sighed as she looked back out the window. "I could handle them, but if I did, it would set a message that I'm the only threat. You need to do this."

Jason's mind raced as he thought of what this meant. If they stayed at the house, it would likely get destroyed. "How long have they been there?" He looked out the window again. He didn't see even a hint of annoyance on their faces yet.

"They just arrived a few moments ago. They're currently coming up with a plan to capture us."

Jason saw a few heads nod as they conversed. "Can they follow us into a dungeon, or a house within the academy?"

Selena's eyes lit as he mentioned the house. "Oh, please tell me you bought a house." She ducked from the window and rushed to the stairs, pushing Jason back up into his room. "Show me!"

Jason saw the insistence in her eyes and clicked the home icon on his phone. They were transferred through darkness into the Easy Living home.

Selena let out a pent up breath as she allowed herself to relax. "I wasn't sure you'd do it. These places cost a lot of money." She whistled as she took a look around. "You didn't go for the cheap ones either!" She came back to the living room and smiled. "Now all that's left is to transfer our clothes and essentials to the house." She took his phone and went through a few menus until she pressed a button. All of the items from his Grandfather's house were transported into the spacious living room, including all the furniture. All of her clothes disappeared suddenly, as well as her bed and anything else that he had gotten her. "I've already set up my room. You should do the same." She then went out the front door and smiled. "Not bad for a training space either." She let the door shut behind her.

"What the hell just happened?" Jason stood holding his phone with a blank expression. He had only just accidentally bought this house, and now they were living in it? He looked at his phone and noticed there was an inventory space for all of the items that were transferred. He pressed on one of his shirts. When he did, an option button appeared. [Transfer to Jason's room?] appeared with a list of the other rooms. When he saw [Selena's room] he saw that she had already configured the app for him. He selected all of his belongings and transferred them to his room. When they disappeared, he expected to hear a thud, but instead it was completely quiet. He went to his new room and saw that everything had already been placed where it belonged.

"No need to organize, I guess." Instead of focusing on the benefits of the house, he went back to the dungeon menu. "That just gives me more time to train." He selected the dungeon. Though they were out of trouble now, eventually he would have to face those people. He was hoping that seeing all of his belongings vanish would be enough to make them go away for now, but he knew that eventually, they would have to go back and face them. Though they could live in this split dimension, eventually he would miss the outside world.

Jason looked around the once vacant living room to find the couch and television already in their proper place. The dining room now held the table which had once been in his Grandfather's house as well. Even the food from the house was now in the fridge. Closing it, he looked back at his phone once again. His jaw clenched as he looked at the [Level 1-5 Dungeon]. "I will earn my freedom back." He pressed the button, and all went dark.
