In the office
"Get in, quickly",.
"Hey, don't laze around".
"Quickly, focus on your laptop before she comes".
Lucy opened the door with a creak. She had a certain magnificence and style even in her way of walking. She eyed the person closest to her, who was looking determinedly at the laptop as of it was the only place where he could look at.
"It's your laptop, Stebbin, not your girlfriend", she said, without even turning her head, "And you weren't quick enough...I saw what you were doing".
"Veronica, it might be better if you take work a little more seriously and realise that this is OFFICE AND NOT YOUR HOUSE WHERE YOU CAN TALK TO YOUR BOYFRIEND WITH EASE", she said, angrily.
"Kevin...a half an hour period has been settled for lunch . So, unless you want me to cancel it for you, you can continue treating our office as a dining hall".
"Dianne, I want you to call Athena and ask her to report to my office immediately ", she said, as she stepped into her own cabin.
A huge pile of papers, a lot of data and documents, and certainly a dead amount of work was waiting for her inside at the table.
"Reckon what is it to have a free life", she thought, gulping.
She set herself on a particularly hard presentation which was going to earn the company a fortune if it went all right.
Just as she finished the last slides of the presentation with graphs and charts 📈 on the company 's shares, the door creaked open.
Athena had entered the office with a slightly satisfied expression on her face. She smiled at Lucy ( who was looking exhausted and weary) and took the seat opposite to her.
Lucy felt better when she saw her best friend sink into the chair. Perhaps, she was the only person in this world in whom she confided everything; the only person in this world who knew about both her identities : the CEO of the Coco Style group of industries and the mafia queen of the underworld.
"Did you call me, er... boss?", she grinned.
"Don't call me boss", Lucy said, shortly, "Did you find about the matter we discussed yesterday".
"As a matter of fact, I did", said she.
"Good, you can tell me all about it. I am all ears", said Lucy.
"I will tell you in the evening ", said Athena.
"Why?", asked Lucy, raising her eyebrows.
"Cuz you've an important task up your sleeve, don't you?", she said.
When she continued to look confused, she said," You told them to prepare the file for you. So you have to go and check it".
"Oh damn, I forgot", she said, hitting her head with a file.
"It's ok . I know you have short term memory loss", said Athena, encouragingly.
"Who is going to complete all these files and work then. I've a meeting with the clients at one 🕐 and it's already eleven 🕚. What should I do?", she asked, scratching her hair.
"I will prepare the files and presentation. And I will go through the charts too. You just go to the den, and return quickly", said Athena.
"You are a life saver Athena", said Lucy ," I wonder what I would do without you?".
"I owe my life to you, Lucy. This is the least I can do", said Athena, giving her a watery smile.
"But still I would be glad, if I could do anything to help you", said Lucy.
"You can do something ", said Athena.
"Ask for anything ", said Lucy.
"Give me a treat in this restaurant which has opened in the town, if you manage to get the deal".
"Good idea, I will see you later, then", said Lucy as she went outside.
