The little kitten is in a much better mood when she and Esteban return from the infirmary. Does she enjoy taking care of wounds that much? She must be more passionate about it than I thought, because she didn't pester me for answers about why there are suddenly so many wounded mafiosos in the house. She just followed Esteban when he told her he needed her help. 

  When she reaches the den where I've been sitting, waiting for her, she has this happy smile on her face. For the first time in a long time, it's not one of those fake smiles she uses when she's feigning sweetness. It's genuine. Yet, something doesn't feel right. What on earth is she up to? 

"I'm going to the hospital," she announces.
