(Author's pov)
Derek's call came, Adam picked the call after a few rings.
"Hey! What happened to my sister!? She was happy in the morning!! What did you say to her!?
Did you see how she was crying!? Did you break her heart!?" Whole Moretti family was like this, they will speak first and won't let other one to speak even for a second.
"It's not like that. Listen to me first. It's that hacker. You know how she is. Instead of working in her office like other hackers diligently, she came barging into my office and my room to show me results. She was teasing me and was somewhat close to me, that's when Brinley came inside the room and caught us in proximity with each other. That's what happened." Adam explained.
"I know what kind of smart fox she is. Did you explain this to Brinley? Did you tell her it was a misunderstanding?" Derek asked him.
"No... I was not able to explain to her everything." Adam said in a sad voice.
"Wow, excellent. You get 10 out of 10 on this bro. Now what?" Derek said to which he got silence in response.
"What? Are you sad or heartbroken? Why so silent?" Derek said and scoffed.
"I want to go back too." Adam said in a hoarse voice. It seemed like he was crying.
"Are you crying bro?? Please don't cry like a baby, I can't handle two cry-babies you know? Let's go back if that's what you want." Derek chuckled making Adam chuckle too.
Adam warned the woman not to do something like that again and left from the office. He started packing his stuff up to leave with Derek for New York. Unfortunately, they had to wait until the next day, because there was not even one booking available for a night in business class. Their private jet was taken away by Brinley, so they had to manage in business class.
(A/N: Sad situations for riches. Lol)
They left in the morning and reached New York after many hours of travelling. As soon as they reached, Adam rushed to Moretti family mansion, but sadly Brinley... she was not at home. Adam sighed and rubbed his hair in frustration. Grace patted his back, encouraging him. She knew Adam's true nature, as she took a major role in taking care of him too like a mother would for her son. Adam sighed again and silently hugged Grace as he was feeling very emotional at that moment.

-Allen's apartment-
"Anna can I help!?" Brinley screeched excitedly watching Gianna make pancakes for her. Gianna giggled and nodded.
"Why're you so overexcited today?" Gianna asked her. Brinley went silent for a moment, thinking back about what happened in Dubai. She was lost in her thoughts when Gianna searching for her hand caught her wrist and shook it lightly as if waking her up from her daydream.
"What has happened Brinley? You're acting strange today."
"No it's nothing like that, I'm the way I was before." Brinley stuttered and let out an awkward laugh.
"C'mon tell me, I won't let anyone know, you can share your feelings with me... even though I can't see, I can sense your sadness and your awkward behavior."
"Why do you always say, you can't see? No one could see my feelings better than you Gianna. I really am grateful to god for gifting me such a nice friend." Brinley said and hugged Gianna, she hugged her back and patted her back. Gianna made the last batch of pancakes and they both sat at the dining table to have their snack and chat.
Brinley told her everything what had happened in Dubai and how she ran away from there without proper conversation with Adam. Gianna silently listened and nodded when necessary as if telling Brinley that she was paying attention.
"So... do you think my decision was impulsive? I am having second thoughts now... like why did I run away? Why didn't I give Adam his rightful chance to explain? Why do I have to always run away without facing my problems? Such thoughts are nagging me since I came here yesterday... Anna, please help me, my head is getting muddled with such thoughts." Brinley said as her tears started streaming down her cheeks. Gianna searched for the tissue box on the table and handed it over to her.
"Brinley, to be honest, I have no right to object to any of your decision or question you on anything. It's your life, whatever decisions you take, it's only for your welfare. If you're asking me why these thoughts are haunting your mind and heart, it's because you have a small guilt hidden in a corner of your heart. You didn't give Adam the chance he deserved, so your heart is questioning your decision. It's just as simple as that." Brinley sniffed and wiped her tears.
"So what should I do? Should I talk with him again?" Brinley asked Gianna.
"That again comes to the point, what your heart says. If you are asking me for suggestion, I think yes you should talk to him. Why? Because maybe... just maybe think if all of that scenario was a misunderstanding? You'll not only lose him but also your trust and bond you made with him over these many years." Gianna sighed and slowly patted her hand which was lying on the table.
"Anna... you're right. I have made my decision, but before doing anything, I want to see if he has same feelings for me or not, then only I will take initiative this time." Gianna nodded in approval and offered her a piece of pancake making her smile.
"See? All you needed was... time. Time to think about his actions and your reactions. And you did that, that's the reason why those thoughts were roaming in your mind." Gianna said. "Yes... that must be true." Brinley replied.
"By the way, your pancakes are world's best pancakes I ever had."
"Stop buttering me and get into action now lazy bee." Gianna said and chuckled. Brinley took her leave after greeting Gianna. Gianna and Charlie went outside the apartment at the doorway, waving Brinley goodbye.
But Gianna felt like someone was watching her from a far distance. She turned her head but in vain. She couldn't see so she felt helpless. Furthermore, she didn't know that the one watching her would be the root of all her problems.

-Moretti Mansion--
Adam sat on the couch in a tired position with his head in his hands. It was not only due to jet lag but also due to not being able to find Brinley. Apparently after leaving from Gianna's place, she went to a café where she sat in a serious mood and thought over everything and her current feelings. After solving her muddled thoughts, she came back to her home.
As soon as Adam heard the main door opening and Brinley emerging inside from the door, he stood up like a rocket and with fast pace went towards her. He hugged her as soon as his sight collided with her eyes. Brinley wriggled in his arms trying to escape from his hold, but his arms tightened not leaving even an inch of space between them.
"Why did you come back? Why're you hugging me? Go hug your girlfriend, or else she might call me a b*tch for being close with you or might even slap--"
"STOP. OKAY. Just stop it Brinley. Why're you so obsessed with that woman? It's not me, it's you!! You won't let me speak. You won't let me explain. Not only that, but you won't let me show you evidence. How am I supposed to deal with this situation without doing anything, can you tell me!?" Adam exclaimed in a stern voice.
"Why do you care? Just let it be. Do not explain anything! I don't need evidence. Why do you care about explaining anything to me? I'm not your girlfriend, not your fiancée and not even your lover or crush, you don't love me right? I am like your sister. Alright, I'll pretend to be your sister from now onwards, you don't need to explain anything to your sister. Go date, enjoy and get married. Now I also don't care."
Hearing the commotion, Xavier, Grace and Derek came out of their rooms and came into the living room. Brinley's father had gone for an outing with his friend.
"Brinley don't make this hard for me. I already told you, and I am telling you this again, it was a misunderstanding, she was a hacker whom our company had employed. Your brother fell into some trouble, so she was helping me solve your brother's case. You can ask Xavier here. She was just teasing and trying to flirt with me. I swear I don't love her." Adam said. Slowly he was getting emotional.
When Brinley looked at Xavier, he silently nodded his head agreeing to what Adam said. Derek took a step ahead and interfered.
"Yes Brinley, I know that hacker, she has tried to flirt with Brother Xavier too many times. But after she was warned that she might get fired for her actions, her next target shifted to Adam." Brinley clenched her fist in anger. Brinley didn't care if that woman liked Adam or not. The question was if Adam liked Brinley or not.
"Brinley I really care for you. Please don't misunderstand, I didn't push her away from me that day because I had to make her complete your brother's case or else situations might have gone out of our hands." Adam explained.
"You care for me? Okay for a moment let's assume you do care for me, but I don't care about your 'care' anymore. You treat me like your sister right? Then I'll pretend to be your sister. That's all. I don't want to waste my time expressing my feelings to you over and over again." Brinley said turning around and ready to go towards her room, when Adam caught hold of her wrist and sat down on his knees. He took out a familiar velvet ring box from his pocket and offered it to Brinley.
"Brinley... please, you're hurting me. It hurts when you say you'll pretend to be my sister. I... it's true, I have had feelings for you. It's just I was not ready to accept my feelings as I treated you like my sister since a very long time, and you are very young to be in a relationship, so I was holding myself back sternly. But not anymore! Brinley I won't disappoint you anymore... you'll only get to see my true feelings whenever you face me." Adam said, and his tears finally started rolling down.
"Brinley? Will you let this idiot become 'Your Idiot'?" He said offering the engagement rings towards her. Brinley gasped at his question. She couldn't control her tears too, she also knelt down in front of him, staring at him eye-to-eye. Both smiled at the same time when Brinley offered her hand and nodded. Grace wiped her tears as she was watching her daughter become finally happy. Xavier smiled whereas Derek hooted and whistled for our lovely new couple.
