Chapter 3
"It's my pleasure to catch such a beautiful girl, "he said in a husky tone.
"Excuse me, "Adele frowned.
"I meant to ask, are you new here. I have not seen you on the campus before, "he raised his brow.
"Yes, I'm a first year student, "she replied.
"So tell me how I can help you, "he looked at the book self behind her.
"Could you please get that blue cover book, "she pointed towards it.
He walked past her to get the book and she noticed just like most of them in the college his clothes too seemed expensive.
"Here, take it, "he kept the book in front of her but as she was about to take it he lifted it up in the air.
"Give me my book," Adele rolled her eyes.
"Of course I will but not before I know your name," he put forth a condition.
"It's Adele, now give it to me," she forwarded her hand.
"Here take it," he said smilingly.
At the same time his phone rang, he took the call and was talking about some seminar.
Seeing he is occupied with something else, Adele decided to quickly leave from there as she had got the book she was searching for.
As she had taken few steps she heard him calling her name so she turned back.
"Well I got to know your name ,aren't you interested in knowing me, "he asked.
"Nope ,"Adele replied without a second thought.
He chuckled and stated, "Too bad I am still going to tell and by the way I am Hudson, your senior. If you need help with anything feel free to ask me, "he stated.
A dimple formed as he smiled, he looked very charismatic and playful at the moment.
When such a good looking guy offers help, it makes him more attractive in the eyes of others.
Adele nodded her head thinking why will she ask him for help ,also it's such a big campus they may hardly met again , even if they cross paths they will be as good as strangers .There was already so much on her plate that she did not think she had enough time nor energy for new friendships.
After going back to orphanage Adele opened her laptop to search for some part time jobs. She shortlisted few but decided to apply tomorrow as it was dinner time.
"Myra, let's go, "Adele called her.
"Myra, get up .You can sleep later, you know if you are so late the food will be over,"Adele continued but there was no response.
"You know the food in my college cafeteria is so good but sadly everything is so expensive .I was thinking …,"Adele trailed off when she noticed Myra was so still.
Adele frowned and removed the blanket from Myra's face. Myra was sweating and her lips had turned blue, Adele touched her forehead which was burning hot.
"Oh no, looks like you have fever, "Adele's eyes widened in panic.
Myra was not in a state to respond anything so Adele quickly went to inform the warden.
The warden immediately came and after checking her stated ,"Nothing to worry ,I will give some medicine feed it to her ,if she did not get better by tomorrow I am going to call the doctor."
Adele followed the warden to get the medicine, the warden searched the cabinet but unfortunately the required medicine was over.
"Adele since its rainy season, lots of children are getting sick and the medicine has got over. The first thing I will do tomorrow is order the medicine, could you go get the tablets now, if the temperature becomes too high it will be a problem, "the warden stated.
"Sure, "Adele agreed.
"I could have gone instead of you but one of the staff is on leave today so there has to be someone to look after the kids, "the warden looked hesitant asking for help.
"I can manage, no issues, "Adele assured her.
It has just been a year since this new warden has joined but one must say she is kind hearted and gentle woman. In fact Adele must say that in her 18 years of existence she is the best warden till date. She tried to help and care take of the children as much as possible, especially the young kids who found it very difficult to adjust to the new surroundings.
Adele put a jacket as it was very cold and went out .There is a 24/7 open medical store which was ten minutes from the orphanage so she decided to go by walk. The road was neither empty nor crowned, there were few vehicles here and there.
Adele heard some noise but she ignored thinking it may be some people, but as the noise continued she casually looked over her shoulder to see what's happening.
Behind her there was no one, she felt confused thinking from where the noise was coming .Not giving much thought to it she turned around and started walking. She went to the medical store and bought the medicine.
While going back her phone beeped and she took out her mobile to check the message. While her attention was in reading she did not notice the small stone in front of her and steeped her foot on it.
As she lost the balance she fell down and all her belongings got scattered on the road. She took one by one and put it back in her bag but her wallet had fell down a bit far.
Adele bent down to pick her wallet and noticed a shadow behind her. Slowly she turned around but there was no one, she quickly got up and ran from there. Only once she has reached the orphanage did she catch her breath.
Adele gave the tablet to Myra, also got her some porridge as she was not in a state of walking to the dining room.
"Do you need anything else, "Adele asked.
"Just hot water, "Myra murmured.
