Madam Lu

Suddenly a pair of steps were heard in the stables and disrupted Jo's thoughts. She lifted her head and their eyes met. Jo's reaction was to quickly hide, so she crouched down and hid behind the horse. "Fudge!! He already saw me, why did I hide?!" Jo whispered to her self, ah... what a cringe reaction. In the mean time, the man bent down as well, wanting to make eye contact with her, from the other side of the horse. "What are you doing?" Jo's face instantly turned red. "Ummm... I dropped the brush... you are home early!" Jo managed to pull her self out of that cringe situation. Lu Ye Ze, chuckled lightly "Haha ha..." He hadn't finished teasing her yet, so he added. "I missed you!"

Lu Ye Ze quickly turned off the engine and pulled the girl towards him. "Sorry!... I am so sorry...!" Jo put her hands down and looked at him. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "It's ok!... Try again!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes!" Jo confirmed.

"Ok! On count to three... one, two... three!" Lu Ye Ze turned the engine again. Jo had been focusing on his voice, but as soon as he stopped talking and the engine was started, her instincts were telling her to cover her ears again, but she resisted.

"Keep talking to me!" She said quietly while she squeezed her hands into fists. She had to learn how to overcome this, how to separate noises and smells. She was ok with vision, because she could just close her eyes, although sometimes it felt like she could see through her eyelids.

"Ok I will talk to you all the time if this is helping you! I have planed these days to take you to some places that I have learned that they are nice for couples and newly weds, but I also wanted to ask you if there is anything you would like to do the most!" The man has never, ever, said a sentence this long. Since he was a child, he had always been reserved with his words.

Jo's lips curled into a smile. "Actually there is! I wanted to see the Chinese wall, get dressed as a geisha and attend the light festival. Although I know the last one is not possible, maybe we can lit some lanterns together, just the two of us!"

"Of course we can!" Then, the man started talking about what they were going to do next and what plans he's made so far. He kept talking one story leading to another. A while later the car came to a stop. Jo had fallen asleep on the road and as soon she opened her eyes, all she could see was the sea. They seemed to be on a ferry.

"Where are we going?" The sleepy girl asked.

"To the temple of God Fu, he is said to bestow longevity and fortune to those who seek his temple. I want us to have fortune in finding a cure and get blessed with longevity for many and healthy years ahead!" Jo smiled and leaned into the man's embrace.

"Thank you darling!"

Their trip went smoothly and peaceful. After they have said their prayers and lit some incense sticks in the temple, they have headed towards the house that Lu Ye Ze had rented for the day.

The villa was located on the shore on a high cliff, once inside full floor to ceiling windows were seen as you came in. The sun was starting to set and the colours of the sky, were mesmerising. Jo went inside the house and stopped in front of the large window. Lu Ye Ze followed and caught her in his arms from behind. Jo leaned on him and they both watched the sunset in silence.

After dinner, Jo went to take a bath, she filled the tub with hot water and then submerged her whole body underneath. She took a deep breath and sank completely in the water. A few seconds later, she rose to the surface, she closed her eyes and grabbed the new phone that her husband bought for her, from the side table. She was going to die soon and she thought she should leave some last words to the people she once loved and cared for.

First, she left a long message to her cousin Will, then she sent two other messages to her adoptive parents and siblings. She was about to put her phone down when she remembered one last person, her childhood friend Bonnie.
