The sound of swords clanging and scratching against each other echoed in the garden. Olympia grunted continuously as she dodged Devon's attack swiftly. Devon saw how Olympia was fighting with so much emotions and said,
"You don't seem okay Olympia, you don't have to do this with so much emotion it is just practice" Devon had to calm her from whatever she was thinking about so that she wouldn't hurt herself in the process.
"I am not to tell the truth, I want to vent to something or someone" Said Olympia as she paused with a heavy sigh and sheathed her sword.
Devon eventually realized the reason for her behavior and also sheathed his sword. He ruffled his slightly gray hair and smiled at the fierce young girl in front of him.
"You are strong my dear but it doesn't mean you can protect yourself all the time especially due to the kind of danger you are in" Devon was worried.
"That is the problem, I don't know the kind of danger I am in and even if I do, I can easily protect myself. You said it yourself, I am the best warrior you have ever trained" Olympia said confidently, crossed her arms on her chest and frowned.
Devon was older than her father, he was a retired general warrior and was her father's companion who had been training her since she was eight years old.
Devon nodded, to tell the truth, Olympia was the best warrior he had trained, she was so determined and fierce which made her strong in strength and her powers.
"Quit sulking, no matter what you will marry him" Devon scolded and walked towards the armchair under the umbrella tree at the side of the garden.
Olympia frowned as she watched Devon sit on the armchair but then she groaned in frustration and ran to him then placed her sword on the other armchair.
"But he is the king and I have heard so many things about him," Said Olympia with a terrified expression.
"Why won't you hear so much about him when you go out without your parents nor my approval?" Devon scolded again.
A proud smile curved on Olympia's small heart shaped lips, She pulled Devon's arm and started acting dramatically.
"They say that he is a cruel person, he has a great reputation for that and I am thankful that no matter how influential mother and father are, he hasn't gotten involved with them," She trailed off in realization then frowned. "Until now, when he suddenly wants to marry me, I mean how does he know me?"
Devon chuckled deeply. Olympia was really so dramatic. He really admired how strong the girl was even though she was so petite and slender. Olympia was really ethereal, one would look at her and wouldn't want to look away, she was beautiful. Just like Olympia, Devon also wondered why the king suddenly proposed that he would marry Olympia. It was some days ago that Patrick told him that he was being summoned to the castle and immediately he got back, he heard the news from Dina that Patrick and Luana told Olympia that she was going to get married to the king who no one had even seen, no human though.
Devon asked Patrick if he saw the king but Patrick said that he was only informed by the king's special guard telling him that his name was Mystic, a half vampire half demon and would protect Olympia.
"What are you thinking about Devon?" Olympia asked Devon out of his thoughts.
Devon blinked rapidly and smiled then nodded, "Nothing much, I am just hungry"
"Well, let's go in for lunch then, I am also hungry" Olympia informed, released his arm and ran into the mansion leaving Devon who was once again lost in his thoughts.
Arriving in the sitting room, Olympia met Luana drinking tea with some of her friends who were also nobles like them.
They immediately sighted Olympia and their jaws dropped.
"Mother, is Dina in the kitchen?" Olympia asked, smiling brightly.
"How unexpected, the golden phoenix is dressed as a warrior in practice" One of the nobles uttered a voice filled with disgust for Olympia.
Olympia's smile disappeared, she looked at her clothes. She was just wearing a garment that was meant to be comfortable when fighting, it seemed they wanted to irritate her.
"This is not how to behave, she is utterly unethical" Another scoffed in utter disgust.
Luana stared at her daughter with widened eyes, not because of Olympia's appearance but because of her friend's words.
"It's not surprising, she always escapes from the mansion and places herself in danger, she doesn't care about her parents, how they would feel if they lost her" Said another so dramatically.
Olympia bit her lower lip and bowed her head. She wasn't the type who spoke to elders rudely no matter how they addressed her, especially in front of her parents.
"I am sorry Luana, but you better lock her up, I know she is your daughter but she puts you in danger and I have been telling you this for years" Another said, placing her head on Luana's shoulder to console her.
"Enough!" Luana shouted in anger. Her utterance made everyone, including Olympia, flinch in shock.
Olympia lifted her head to her mother who was fuming in anger and was staring directly at her with intense anger.
This was the first time Olympia actually met her mother's friends, she was stunned by their words and it hurt her deeply. Her hopes were high up as she waited for her mother to say something but Luana was quiet as they spoke so much about her. Her heart broke into a thousand pieces and suddenly glued back immediately Luana shouted in anger but Luana's expression once again broke her heart.
"Go to your room now!" Shouted Luana crushing and punching Olympia's heart.
Olympia nodded, ran out of the sitting room through the hall and arrived at her room.
She returned back to the sitting room after bathing and changing into a new dress. She met Luana and Patrick talking to each other in whispers but immediately they noticed her, they stopped and smiled brightly at her.
Olympia found it strange but she shrugged it off.
"I am so sorry mother if I humiliated you" Apologized Olympia.
Luana immediately laughed and shook her head negatively.
"You didn't humiliate me my Olympia, I told you to go to your room so that you wouldn't see me through them out" Hearing that, a bright smile curved Olympia's lips and she felt extremely loved.
She went close to her parents and sat in between them.
"I admired that you didn't talk back to them my dear" Luana added and kissed Olympia's cheek.
Olympia was glad that she didn't cry or sulk, she knew her mother extremely well. She immediately signed an envelope which had a red dragon seal pasted on it beside Patrick.
"Is that a letter from the king?" Olympia asked with a dramatic gasp.
The dragon seal was the mark of the king, anything with the dragon seal on it was official.
Patrick nervously handed the letter to Olympia who was extremely curious.
"Is it safe?" She thought to herself.
She ended up opening the letter.
"Directly to my future wife, unfortunately I can't make it to you but you will have to make it to me. I am inviting you and your parents to the grand ball of the moon festival. Yours forever Mystic" Olympia read out loud in shock.
"We weren't allowed to open it, there's a spell casted on it that lets only you open it" Patrick revealed.
Olympia was in a daze.
"Future wife? I will have to make it to him? Grand ball of the moon festival? Mine forever? Mystic?" She screamed loudly in her head and imagined herself fainting then waking up.
"I am not going, why did he have to cast a spell when he is inviting all three of us?" She scoffed. "Pathetic"
"You have to Olympia" Patrick suddenly said in a voice filled with fear.
Olympia was in another daze to notice the fear in her father's voice and her worried looking mother.
"Okay then, I am going but I am wearing a mask because in most of the moon festival parties in the small town, they were masks well, except last night" Olympia blurted.
"All of the young lads and maidens are wearing masks, people like us have to choose to wear or not" Luana informed calmly.
Olympia faced Luana and held her by her shoulders.
"Should I be worried about my mother?" She asked, squinting her eyes and pouting her lips childishly.
"No my dear" Luana replied with a smile.
"Honestly mother, I am only going there for the moon cakes" Olympia revealed and groaned in frustration.
Luana laughed at her daughter's silly attitude but then her eyes met with her furious looking husband.
"Behave yourself Olympia, you are going there to get to know your future husband, put that in mind, '' Luana suddenly told her sternly. Olympia's expression turned serious mixed with disappointment then she nodded.
"Yes mother"
