"All these planets and stars make me hold my breath, but a glimpse of you always takes it away" ~ ~ ~ All Seraphina wanted was to successfully die at the hands of the world's most feared and powerful Lycan King, Ares Maximilian Dacre. However, she had not planned to be totally smitten by him at first glance and faint in the said person's arms. When she turns out to be his mate, the entire pack seems more than happy to welcome her, she becomes the owner of a strange stone, and the burden to save the world from destruction falls on her shoulders, she might have gained more than what she bargained for. Can Ares' love heal her broken heart and shattered soul and make her believe in love once again? ~ ~ ~ "It's not how I feel about you, but rather how I have never felt for anyone else. " ~ ~ ~ "I, Rowen, Alpha of the Hunter's Pack, reject Seraphina as my mate... " There was a pin drop silence in the hall as he proudly announced his rejection with a wide smile on his face. Pfft, this fool. Loud gasps filled the tensed air, as the most powerful person in this entire banquet came up behind me, wrapped his strong arms around my waist, and nestled his face in my neck. Shivers ran down my spine as I softly caressed his face. His authoritative stance and murderous eyes made everyone gulp in fear and shake in anticipation. "And I, Ares Maximilian Dacre, the Lycan King, claim Seraphina as my mate and promise to cherish and protect her, if anyone if so dares to look at her wrongly." His intense glare then fell on Rowen, who trembled pathetically. Oh how the tables turn!
~~ THIRD PERSON'S POV ~~
Deep silence enveloped the entire hall as everyone ran wild with apprehension. The lowliest being, who was more worthless than shoe dirt, in the pack, had acted so brazenly and went as far as to confront the monstrous being himself.
As they continued to gawk at the King wordlessly holding the limp figure of Seraphina in his embrace, dread piled up in the pit of their stomach and they all squirmed frightfully.
Tales of the Lycan King brutally torturing the Alpha of another pack for looking at him wrongly had not failed to reach their pack.
They all could simply pray that their death would be quick and merciful as they trembled, shivered, and cried pathetically in trepidation.
Now what?
Was the monster going to kill them?
Is this how this wench was going to fulfill the prophecy?
Had the Beta known his daughter was going to pull this stunt today, he would have kept her chained up in the dungeon after whipping her almost dead.
His fists clenched in both fury and fear, and his body trembled with nerves. He should not have called her out. He should have finished her long ago.
But it still was not too late.
He could do something now. Perhaps kneeling down and begging for mercy might just be enough to satiate the beast.
So along with his Alpha, who mirrored the same feelings as his people, the Beta carefully approached the King as if approaching the ticking time bomb that would explode any second.
"Ahem- I apologize on behalf of my daughter. Allow me to take her awa-"
As the Beta made a move to grab her forearm, he halted upon feeling the blood curdling stare from the beast himself.
He ceased breathing as his entire body felt like a crumbling tower, to which Ares acted like a wrecking bell. One more hit and he would collapse poignantly.
Not to mention his equally formidable sub-ordinates that radiated the same spine chilling aura as their King.
Upon seeing the humiliating state of the Beta, the Alpha started sweating nervously, desperately trying to figure out some way to turn this situation over.
Though he was confused about why the King appeared to be so protective of the pack's punching bag, he focused on solving the current crisis, at all costs, to ensure their pack's survival.
"I apologize for the discourtesy of my Beta." Without a second to waste, he put forward his best acting skills and bowed his head down as low as he could.
He let out a fake huff of a chuckle as he clapped his hand together, despite the internal twisting of all his organs.
"It seems our Seraphina isn't in the best of spirits today, would you like-"
"Quiet."
Thud.
Every single one in the hall, including the Alpha and Beta, knelt down at the intense pressure that weighed down on them with just one word.
And that too from Damien, the Lycan King's first sub-ordinate and Beta.
What monstrosity is this?
How could a Beta be this terrifying?
How could he have such a powerful aura to make them all kneel with a mere word?
Their heart pulsated wildly in fright as their eyes widened and they held in their whimpers and gasps.
Absolute monsters!
"Show us to our residence." Azar, the second sub-ordinate and the Gamma, clicked her tongue in annoyance as she threw poisonous darts from her eyes at the kneeling Alpha with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
He scrambled to get up on his feet, shoving his pride and humiliation away, and quickly took the frightening party of 6 to the big cottage he had prepared just for them.
'Oh you merciful goddess, please have mercy on us.'
He prayed desperately.
Little did he know, all his acts of desperation were of no fruition, and all the sins he and his pack had been accumulating would be punished mercilessly.
By none other than the Lycan King Ares himself.
And that too on Seraphina's command.
Thanks everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for waiting so patiently :)
I will make sure to reward your patience handsomely :) <3
