Can Ares' love heal her broken heart and shattered soul and make her believe in love once again? ~ ~ ~ "It's not how I feel about you, but rather how I have never felt for anyone else. " ~ ~ ~ "I, Rowen, Alpha of the Hunter's Pack, reject Seraphina as my mate... " There was a pin drop silence in the hall as he proudly announced his rejection with a wide smile on his face. Pfft, this fool. Loud gasps filled the tensed air, as the most powerful person in this entire banquet came up behind me, wrapped his strong arms around my waist, and nestled his face in my neck. Shivers ran down my spine as I softly caressed his face. His authoritative stance and murderous eyes made everyone gulp in fear and shake in anticipation. "And I, Ares Maximilian Dacre, the Lycan King, claim Seraphina as my mate and promise to cherish and protect her, if anyone if so dares to look at her wrongly." His intense glare then fell on Rowen, who trembled pathetically. Oh how the tables turn!

Cool Meter, Everyday Brawl, and Heartbreaking Nightmare

"So, what is your power?" I asked Azar as we walked back to the cabin.

We hung out on the deck for a long while, talking till the sunset, like long lost friends that met after a long time. I can't believe I finally had my first ever hang out session and that too with such a cool girl.

It felt like we have always been the closest of friends.

The setting sun cast an orange hue all over the place, and as an orange hue reflected in her red hair and purple eyes, she looked like an angel that descended from heaven.

"My power?" She smirked, stopping suddenly, and turned her hand, palm side up.

A small flame of fire rose up from her hand while my jaw dropped and I gaped at her.

Oh gosh, could she get even more cool than this?

Seriously? A badass personality and a fire wielder on top of that.

I have seriously bagged the coolest person for a friend.

"Woah!" I exclaimed in wonder as she flicked her finger and the small ball of fire jumped over on my shoulder, but it didn't burn me.

"Fire is my forte." Her eyes burned as she grinned, breaking the limits of how much coolness can one person possess.

"Oh God, you're seriously so cool." I gushed over her before I could stop myself. The ball of fire jumped from my shoulder to another, and I giggled as it felt like a small furry ball.

Out of nowhere, the ball of fire grew larger in size and it fell from my shoulder and onto the fresh grass.

"Hey, Azar, the fire-" I stopped as I heard no response from her.

My eyes widened as I turned towards Azar and found her out of focus, in a daze. Was she mind-linking someone?

I panicked as the grass caught fire, before stopping myself.

Why am I panicking? This entire pack can burn to ashes for all I care.

Oh God, no, Azar will get into trouble.

My panic started once again as I tried to make Azar snap out of her daze. She was fine just now. What happened to her suddenly?

Just then, a huge blob of water splashed on the rising flames, and the fire went out in an instant. So did my rising panic attack.

Phew. Thank the lord.

A huge, broad guy, who put out the fire, walked towards us calmly, while forming another blob of water in his hand. Though his expression was wild, and he appeared to be relaxed, there was a subtle hint of tension in his rigid body posture, and his eyes were wild in controlled anger.

He then jerked his hand, and the water splashed on Azar, wetting her entirely as she fell to the ground.

And me? I just looked at the entire scenario with wide eyes and dropped jaw.

Seriously, these lycans were just on another level.

At least, that managed to snap Azar out of her daze, and she growled at the broad, muscular guy.

"You're dead meat, Damien." She screeched before throwing a fire dart at him, who easily put it out with his water shield.

This. Was. So. Fricking. Sick.

Wait.

Damien?

The lycan who eradicated one of the most powerful werewolf pack in one night?

Wow. I am his fan.

"Was I supposed to watch you burn this pack and prolong our stay here?"

I watched silently as they went back and forth with their fire and water play while arguing nonchalantly.

...

Should I be worried?

This looked like this was an every day occurrence.

"Ah, where are my manners?" He flicked Azar's fire ball off with another water ball, while turning towards me with a polite smile on his face.

"I am Damien, the Beta of the Lycan Pack. Pleased to make your acquaintance."

Ah, shit, he's talking to me.

I awkwardly bowed my head down a little at his formal way of speaking.

"I am Seraphina. Nice to meet you." I smiled while Azar smacked the back of his head.

"Ugh, how many times have I told you to drop this act? Times have changed." She clicked her tongue as she crossed her arms across her chest, ignoring Damien's warning look, as she covered her entire body with a thin layer of orange fire, drying her body off his water attack in an instant.

Just wow.

"Ignore this hooligan, miss. I hope you have regained your health and are feeling better now." He smiled down at me as I craned my head up to look at him in the eye.

He was even taller than the King.

Again, the same familiar feeling spread over my chest and for some reason, and a pang shot through my heart as I stared deeply at his polite, smiling face.

He felt like...home.

Actually, they both felt like family. A real family.

Shit, this is so crazy.

Looking at him made me so emotional that my hand raised on its own to caress a specific spot on his chest.

A frown made its way down my face and before I knew it, a sudden jolt in my head made me cry out in pain as I tightly clutched my sides.

F-ck!

I felt arms around me, but my head was spinning so intensely that I could not pay any attention to anything else.

And then my vision darkened.

~ ~ ~

A catastrophe. Destruction. Annihilation. Deaths. Blood.

Total defeat. A complete failure. Screams from all over the place.

Some survived. Many lost their lives.

In the midst of all this chaos lay a bloody muscular brunette, coughing up pools of blood.

A poisoned arrow, made of a deadly element, had shot through directly into his heart, making him fall down in an instant.

"NO! Get up, you can't die!" Screams and howls tore through the throat of a silver haired woman as she gathered his bruised and battered body in her arms.

"Please." She pleaded as fat drops of tears covered her own blood stricken face as she poured her own energy and power into him, desperate to save him.

He let out a hoarse chuckle at her feeble attempts. She was quite injured herself.

"It's ok, Clipse." He coughed up even more blood. He had stopped feeling her touches long ago. It was only a matter of time.

If only.

If only she had known it would come to this.

If only someone had warned her.

If only she had time to prepare.

"No, no, no, no, no, no!" She sobbed heavily, tightly clutching onto his arms.

"Please, Dam, you promised to protect me." She broke down as her chest constricted with an impending feeling of loss.

"Ah, I did." He felt ashamed of himself.

He had failed miserably.

"I am sorry, Lil sis." She cried even more.

"If you find it in your heart," His weak shaky hands raised to wipe the tears off her face as his breaths grew shorter and he found all his powers and energies leaving him entirely.

"No, no, no, please hold on, please for me." She pleaded in despair and anguish.

"Please forgive me..." His hand fell to his side, and he fell into a deep slumber of death.
