"Death count!" The guild leader yelled out in desperation. The paralysis finally wore off ant the last two of the guild were back on their feet.
I quickly said a protection spell to help protect my friends. The skill used by the guild leader thankfully didn't take much damage from us. I then used a new skill I had recently developed: Bitter Death.
"Bitter death!" I yelled out, performing my skill. Suddenly, the two people shrieked in pain. This skill is one of the necromancy sub-class specials. It seemed to me that becoming a necromancer didn't seem to bad. The attacks are powerful, and not only that, you can summon zombies.
The two then fell to the floor, gasping for air. I didn't know exactly what that skill does, but it made them in pain. I then grabbed one of the other guilds' dagger from the floor and walked up to them. "Don't under estimate my guild." I said as I pointed the dagger at the leader.
The leader looked at me with bloodshot eyes. I knew that he lost. Did that mean we all survived?
Out of nowhere a big beam of light shot from the sky and hit the two players. They began screaming louder and sounded like they were worse pain than when I used my skill. Then after a few seconds, they disintegrated. I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked as if they melted. Even their bones melted to the point of disappearance. They were gone from existence.
Then a banner popped up in front of my face saying, "Congratulations!! \(^ω^\)"
"What? How did we win?" I questioned.
A notification then appeared. "You wonder how you won? Well, you see, that's simple. During a guild battle, we have a thing called a gauge. Depending on how much damage you have done to the other opponent, you can win or lose. The last attack you made, 'Bitter Death,' disintigrates players bones to the point where they become mush! Interesting, right? Ye━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━s!! Because of that, you dealt a whole bunch of damage! So that means you won this round."
The messaged shocked me. "Wait, you answered me...are you listening to my conversations?"
Another message arrived, "Maybe...¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
"Then can you tell me why everyone is dying? I thought this was your average game where you can respawn."
"You see, due to the glitch everything has been going haywire. I didn't know about the dying part. To boost up everyone's moral, I thought people would love to battle each other, since that's what you do in mmorpgs. (*^ー^)"
"Still playing victim, huh?"
"Yep. °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°"
"Then will those people who died be revived once we are able to log out?"
There was a long pause before I got another message from the developer. Then he responded.
"Can't guarantee anything. (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑)"
"So they really are dead." I mumbled to myself. That means I can't get Eiji back. He's really dead.
"Are you alright, Haruta?" Yumi came running up to me. "What was with that big light? Was that some new skill of yours?"
"You're giving me too much credit. No, sadly that was an erasing light. It makes the loser disappear from existence." I informed her.
"So...so they are gone? Forever?" Yumi fell to her knees.
Yazoyo then began to panic again. "Why is everyone dying? I don't want to die!"
"He won't be able to take care of his brother now..." Sakura began to cry.
"Then should he have died instead, Sakura?" I asked.
"What are you saying, Haruta?" Yumi grabbed me by the collar.
"If we died instead we wouldn't be able to see our families ever again, just like those guys." I explained.
"That's... that is true." Yumi released me. "So we killed them just to be able to see our families again. Was I that selfish?"
