11. Chapter 50: Breaking Ties

That morning, Luz was holding up a backpack full of various items as she got ready to leave the Owl House.

"You sure got everything you need, Luz?" Gwen asked while waiting for her. Since she had learned that Luz was thinking about taking the Beast-Keeping track at Hexside, she had decided to show Luz what it was like for a member of the Beast-Keeping Coven. Which sometimes meant taking on the role of animal control and fighting monsters.

"Medical supplies, glyph cards, snacks… yeah, got everything, Gwendma," Luz responded.

She followed Gwen outside, where Amity and King were waiting for her with Lilith and Eda.

"Hey Ams, sorry again that I can't go with you to see your grandparents," Luz apologized.

"No worries," Amity replied. "I understand that you and your grandmother need this time together. It's not like I will be going in alone, since King is going to be watching my back."

"Yup, just in case her grandparents turn out to be complete weirdos," King added.

"Well, with all you kids out of the house it will at least give me a chance to take care of some of my own business," Eda mentioned.

"Like meeting up with Raine?" Lilith teased, causing Eda to blush.

"Raine? Oh I haven't heard from them in years. I heard they're going to become the new Bard Head," Gwen said before she gasped. "Oh don't tell me… are you two getting engaged?"

"No, no, I'm just meeting with them!" Eda exclaimed. "Lily, you can come too after you drop off Amity and King."

"No, I would rather not be a third wheel," Lilith said, earning an annoyed look from Eda. She turned to Luz and Gwen. "Good luck on your adventure."

"Thanks, Aunt Lily," Luz replied happily as she got on Gwendolyn's staff.

Amity got on to Lilith's staff as well as the two groups set off toward their different destinations. Eda watched them off before getting ready to leave as well. "Hooty, you're in charge. Make sure that the place doesn't get vandalized by Glandus delinquents again."

"Hoot, got it!" Hooty promised before Eda flew away.

Later, Lilith dropped Amity and King in front of a gate that surrounded the property.

"Are you sure this is the place?" King asked.

"This is the address that the letter gave," Amity confirmed, noticing a mailbox full of letters.

"Well, call me if there's an emergency," Lilith told Amity. "You know, just in case things go south. And just… don't be too disappointed if they turn out to be bad."

Amity nodded, looking past the gate and down a pathway covered in tall grass. "Thanks Lilith, I think… I'm ready for whatever I may find out."

Lilith nodded. "I'll see you when you are ready to leave," she told them before flying off with a wave.

But as she flew away, Lilith noticed something in the sky. "Hmm? What in the…" She didn't know what it was, but it reflected off sunlight almost like it was metallic and it darted away once it had been spotted…

At the Brooke household, Odalia rang the doorbell. She was carrying a gift basket and with her was Alador. Slasher opened the door.

"Odalia, Alador, this is a surprise," he commented.

"Yes, well we knew about what your family was going through and we thought we would find some time to get away from work and pay you a visit," Odalia said as she handed over the gift basket with her family seal. "I hope that your daughter is doing better."

"Oh, Skara is fine now! But thanks for dropping by!" Slasher told them.

Odalia nodded, looking genuinely relieved. "That is fortunate to hear, we are so glad that your daughter is safe. Isn't that right, dear?"

Alador was distracted by a nearby butterfly with a human face until his wife nudged him. "Oh um, yes, we are glad that Skara is back home safe and sound."

"Why don't you two come in?" Slasher offered, inviting the two into his home. "I don't think me and Calypso have heard from either of you recently."

"Yes, that is because we've been kept busy by our new contract deal with the Emperor's Coven," Alador responded as he and his wife followed Slasher in.

"Working with the government dogs? I expected as much," Calypso said from a counter while mixing her tea.

"Good to see you're doing well, Calypso," Odalia replied, trying not to look insulted.

"By well do you mean sober?" Calypso asked as she drank her brew.

"Sober? I, uh, suppose so, Cali," Odalia commented. "Have you decided to start cutting back on the apple blood?"

"I'm part of the Apple Blood Anonymous meetings now," Calypso admitted. "Skara's girlfriend made this tea brew for me as a substitute, she's a really thoughtful girl."

"Ah yes, Skara's girlfriend," Odalia said, biting her lip. "Well, in any case."

"Alright, I've just given Skara her homework and Principal Bump said that she doesn't have to worry about-." Willow said as she came into the room, stopping when she saw the Blights. "Oh. Hello there, Mr. and Mrs. Blight." she greets with a wave.

"Willow… this is a surprise…" Odalia replied, trying to stay composed. "It's nice… seeing you… here. How are you?"

"Pretty well," Willow answered. "Unless you have an issue with that-"

"No no, everything's fine!" Alador assured her, surprisingly nervous.

Willow sighed before deciding to come out and say what was on her mind. "If I can be honest for a moment… I'm mad at you two for what you did in the past, even if I have decided not to do anything about it. Me and Amity may have decided to move forward and be friends again, but that does not make you blackmailing her into ending our friendship okay. Especially on her birthday. I understand that you two think you are trying to do what is best for her, but that is no excuse. Even though I am not going to pretend like I am okay with either of you, as long as you don't try to intervene in our friendship again we don't have to have a problem. I just want to continue being friends with your daughter and helping her out. Understand?"

Odalia blinked at the Plant Track girl, surprised by her bluntness. "Well, me and Alador do appreciate what you have done to help our daughter," Odalia told her.

"Yes, we are sorry for what we put you two through all those years ago," Alador apologized.

Willow nodded. "Well, I should get going. Thank you for having me over, Ms. Brooke."

"Thank you for visiting, Willow," Calypso told her. "Come back anytime."

After Willow left, the Blights and Brooke parents were later sitting on the couch facing having a discussion with each other. Slasher wanted to talk to Odalia about one thing in particular.

"The Inner Demon?" Odalia asked.

"Yes, we were wondering if you or anyone in the Oracle Coven knew anything about a dream demon that goes by that name," Slasher explained. "Apparently our children have had some experience with him."

"Isn't he a legend?" Alador asked. "A story that our parents told us as children in order to get us to behave or else the Inner Demon would come to take our souls?"

Odalia looked down. "No, he is real," she admitted. "The Oracle Coven has spoken with those who claim to have experiences with the dream demon. Most of them are teenagers or younger. Many of them become husks of their former selves, others eventually wander off into the Forest of Fear and never return. But he was believed to be gone, since those were years ago…"

"Well, clearly he is back and we have to do something!" Slasher yelled as he stood up. "We both almost lost our daughters to the same devil! He has to be stopped!" His eyes turned yellow as his pupils narrowed until he felt Calypso holding his hand.

"Dear, calm down," Calypso told him.

"I'm sorry, Cali, it's just…" He sat back down, his expression sad. "I don't want to lose more of my family… especially my girls…" He sniffed. "I just… couldn't bear the loss…"

Alador and Odalia looked at them, not saying anything while Calypso comforted her husband. Odalia was reminded of a time not too long ago when her daughter came home in tears…

It was the day of the ceremony. After she had been brought home by Ed and Em, Amity wouldn't stop crying while Odalia and Alador were worried for their youngest daughter.

"Mittens, Mittens it's going to be okay," Odalia tried to reassure her.

"She knows…" Amity muttered.

"Knows about what, dear?" Alador asked.

"Mom, Dad… I've made a terrible mistake," Amity revealed. "I agreed to be Ms. Lilith's… spy and report to her about my own girlfriend and her family…"

"WHAT!?" Odalia exclaimed in shock. "What… when did she-"

"The Covention," Amity answered, shocking her parents. "All this time, I was Lilith's spy… she used me to get close to her own family because she was too much of a coward to do so! All because I was desperate…"

"What… what could make you desperate enough to-"

"I did it for you!" Amity shouted, shocking her parents. "Because I was afraid of disappointing you or not living up to the family name! I was even afraid that you would look down at me for getting mugged-"

This caused Amity to quickly cover up her mouth.

"What… what did you…" Alador said in shock.

"Amity… I think you should tell them," Edric said to her.

"Tell us what?" Odalia asked. "Amity… were you…?!"

"I was mugged," Amity revealed. "Those attackers at Cat's party mugged me before the Covention. I was too scared to say anything to you so I kept it a secret. But I couldn't get it out of my head, so I… snuck out and tried to go after them… but Eda stopped me from making a mistake…" She wiped her nose. "Then I told Lilith after I came home…"

"Honey, why didn't you come to us?" Odalia questioned.

"Because I didn't want my parents to think their perfect little daughter was too weak to stop herself from getting jumped by a couple of thieves that could've done a lot worse to me if they had wanted to … one of them had a knife to my throat…" She touched her neck while remembering it. It was then Amity felt her mom immediately embrace her in a hug, much to her surprise.

"I… I'm there, Mittens," Odalia told her. "Look, we'll discuss this later. But right now, I want you to go to your bedroom and get some rest. Everything's going to be okay, I'll make sure nothing like this ever happens to you again."

Amity just nodded, sniffing while Odalia helped wipe away her tears.

In the present day, Odalia sighed and turned to her husband.

"Alador," she said to him. "I think it's about time we bring Mittens home."

Meanwhile, Gwen and Luz were having a chat as they flew together.

"Oh, so you've been through the Escape Temple as well?" Gwendolyn asked.

"Yeah, really fun place," Luz responded. "And it gave me the chance to spend more time with some of Amity's friends. Though I guess at this point I have to start considering them my friends as well." She thought back to how Amelia and Cat were part of the protest at the petrification ceremony, as well as how they helped Luz and the others get back into Hexside.

"I remember going through there as well when I was a tough little witchlet like you," Gwendolyn stated fondly. "My mother actually told me a story about the temple's origins once."

"Really? Does it have to do with the portrait inside?" Luz asked.

"Yes, a witch who came from another world. Though she was not a witch like one of ours," Gwendolyn said. "Her magic was far different and I even heard that she was royalty back where she came from. Apparently she came here with a pair of scissors."

"A pair of scissors?" Luz asked, wondering if she could use something like that to travel to the human realm and see the Pines family again. But she didn't want to worry about that right now and she decided to change the subject. "So… what was it like in the Savage Ages?"

"Oh, interested in the times before the Covens?" Gwen asked with a gleeful smile. "Well, there's only one way to describe it… chaotic, but fun!"

Luz chuckled. "Awesome…"

Cutting through the tall grass that was in their way, Amity and King gradually made it to the end of the pathway leading up to the home of her grandparents. "When was the last time that they had their yard trimmed?" King asked.

"No idea," Amity replied while holding her Abomination goop machete, swiping at another patch of tall grass. "But I think we're here."

In front of them was an old factory building and a faded sign that read 'Dr. Blight's Abominable Factory: Fulfilling all your Abomination needs since 1788.' Above that sign is a tower.

A curious Amity walked over to ring the doorbell of the front entrance. No answer. "Hello?" she called out.

"What? Who's there?" spoke someone from the tower, only their purple-gloved hands visible as they brought out a telescope to eye Amity and King. "What business do you have here? You're not from the witch's scouts, are yeh?"

"No, I'm your granddaughter, Amity!" Amity replied, holding up the letter. "I got your letter and I'm here to pay a visit!"

"Amity? Wait right here!" the voice said, pulling the telescope back. Amity and King heard someone running down some steps before the front door finally opened. Popping out was a tall, lanky and elderly pale man who looked like an older Alador. He had gray curly hair, a large twirling mustache and beard, his golden eyes like Amity's, and he wore a purple top hat and a long purple jacket along with green goggles, black cargo pants and boots. He also was holding a purple cane. "Oh this is jolly-good, meeting the offspring of my offspring! Please, come in, come in!" He led Amity and King inside, calling out. "Destiny! My Destiny, look who just arrived!"

"What is it Arthur?" asked an elderly gray-skin woman with blue eyes, auburn hair, glasses, purple lips, and a beauty mark on her left cheek. She wore a purple long gown with black buttons, metallic gloves, and an abominable cape.

"My Destiny, our granddaughter is here!" Arthur declared, causing his wife to gasp.

"Oh my… oh come here, little one!" Destiny ran up to hug her granddaughter. "I can't believe it, you look just like me when I was a young sprocket!"

"I-It's nice to meet you too, um, grandma," Amity responded, feeling nervous around them.

"And I say, love what you did to your hair," she commented, patting Amity's head.

"Yes, yes, and you have the eyes of a Blight! Shining as the moonlight!" Arthur declared. "Come, come, let me show you and your skullcapped servant around our home! Make up for lost time!"

"Wait, servant?" King asked as he followed.

"It's so nice to finally make your acquaintance after all these years, Amity," Destiny said as the group walked down the halls of the factory. "We wish we could have gotten this chance earlier, but your parents had cut all contact with us."

"Thanks um, it's nice to meet you too but… I was reluctant because of what I heard about you two," Amity said honestly.

Arthur paused for a moment. "What did you hear?" he asked, tense.

"Well, my parents don't talk about you much but my dad did tell me that you gave up trying to take care of him…"

"Ah yes, we did do that," Arthur admitted, relaxing more. "But we were only trying to force him to be self-reliant! Alador was bright, but far too much of a pushover!"

"Yes, and too easily swayed by Odalia," Destiny added. "Take what he told you with a grain of salt, since he would believe anything that Odalia tells him and she would say anything to drive him away from us in order to take over the family business. We had hoped that Alador would learn to take care of himself, but unfortunately he became dependent on your mother instead which allowed that witch to sink her claws into him."

Amity looked conflicted by this. "So there's no way for you to patch things up with dad?"

"Afraid not," Arthur told her. "We ruled out that possibility a long time ago. But just because he wants nothing to do with us doesn't mean that it was too late for us to have a relationship with one of our grandchildren. And since you are currently no longer living under Odalia's rule, it was the perfect chance for us to reach out!"

"You really don't have a positive opinion of my mother, do you?" Amity asked.

Destiny shook her head. "She is manipulative and controlling, taking advantage of our son by coddling him and then using him to try to make our business her own. That Grunhar woman even has the audacity to call her company Blight Industries, despite this factory being the heart of the original Blight Industries! The true Blight Industries! I'm afraid that your mother is destroying the legacy of our family!"

Amity just looked down, wondering if there was any truth to what her grandparents were saying. While she knew that her mother could be manipulative and controlling, she doubted that it was to the extent that her grandparents were suggesting.

"Is there anything wrong, dear?" Destiny asked, noticing Amity's silence.

"Well, it's just…" Amity said, avoiding eye contact.

"She's wondering if you two are secretly evil," King spoke up.

"King!" Amity scolded, while her grandparents just laughed.

"Ohohohoho! Now that's a funny little fellow you got here, Amity!" Arthur commented. "You could say we are a little 'evil'…"

"If you consider raising the prices up for all of our products evil!" Destiny chimed in. "But we just consider that good business!"

"Say, how about a little trip around the factory? Learn a little about the history of our proud family and the lineage that you are a part of?" Arthur offered.

"Well, I guess a tour around the factory won't hurt," Amity accepts.

"Excellent!" Arthur declared as he led them to a port of an indoor purple river where a small ferry sat waiting for the group.

"Wait, what kind of factory is this?" King asked, confused.

Meanwhile, Luz and Gwendolyn had arrived at their destination, which was along the shores of the Boiling Isles. Luz was shocked to see a field of poisoned and fallen demon cows and goats.

"Wear this," Gwendolyn said seriously as she handed Luz a mask.

"What happened here?" Luz asked as she put on her mask.

"All of the livestock around here have been exposed to the poisonous breath of a hydra," Gwendolyn answered. "I told the Coven that I would take care of this."

"Hydra?" Luz asked, remembering her recent encounter with Spot. "I really hope this isn't another Underworld escapee…"

Surprisingly, there was already someone else in the field. "Hey, you there! You better vacate the area, there have been hydra sightings nearby!" Gwendolyn called out.

The other person looked up and Luz recognized him as a student from Hexside. "Oh, not to worry! Dusty Bringems is here to capture this hydra!" he declared.

"What?!" Gwendolyn exclaimed.

"Wait, I know this guy from school," Luz stated, remembering Dusty from the Grudgby game. "He's the top of the Beast-Keeping track at Hexside. According to Viney, he's also some kind of collector of beasts and monsters."

"Ah, a fan of my work I see," Dusty commented.

"Actually, I've hardly heard about you-"

"But not to worry! I, Dusty Bringems, shall capture this hydra myself!" Dusty declared, performing a spell circle to summon a large gray weasel with sickles connected to its paws, a Sickle Weasel. "Prepare for battle, Cutler!"

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Luz asked. "Cause me and my grandma are here for the hydra as well, and she's pretty much a professional."

"Oh, a fellow Beast-Keeper? Wanting to take my catch? Then I challenge you to a Beast Battle!" Dusty declared.

"Um, we don't want any trouble…" Luz started to say but Gwendolyn interrupted her.

"Oh don't worry, pumpkin, this happens all the time in the Beast-Keeping Coven," Gwendolyn explained before she summoned a large, brown spider with the head of a cat, four blue eyes, and a mouth that split sideways. It was known as a Spider Cat.

"What is going on here!?" Luz exclaimed.

"This is a Beast Battle, Luz. It is how those in the Beast-Keeping Coven settle things!" Gwendolyn told her before turning to her Spider Cat. "Percy, let's wipe the floor with this scissor rat!"

"Make this Spider Cat beg for mercy, Cutler!" Dusty ordered as Cutler charged towards Percy the Spider Cat.

"Use block!" Gwen ordered and Percy blocked the sickles using his front legs.

"Use swipe, Cutler!" Dusty commanded.

Luz just watched in confusion. "I don't know what this is, but I can't take my eyes off of it. I can't believe Viney never told me about this…"

As the ferry traveled down the river of purple goo and went into a tunnel, Arthur and Destiny used lanterns to show murals depicting the history of the Blight family.

"Why is the tunnel so dark?" Amity asked.

"Dramatic effect." Arthur responded before beginning his tale.. "Long ago, before the use of Abominations there were clay beings known as Golems who would assist the witches of the Boiling Isles."

"Until the uprising started," Destiny continued, showing off a mural that depicted Golems attacking witches and villages.

"Eventually, they were stopped," Arthur mused. "And for a time witches didn't need Golems. But then a Fae known as the Pied Piper showed up and took away the children of the Boiling Isles. Are you familiar with that tale?"

"Yeah," Amity admitted, looking down.

"The Fae are a nasty sort! Anyway, after the visit from the Piper, the Boiling Isles needed to be repopulated!" Destiny explained. "Which led to the Baby Boom. But while raising this new generation of witch babies, there just weren't enough nannies and servants to go around!"

"Correct!" Arthur said as he showed a mural depicting a lone figure. "Which is when this genius came up with a solution! He learned how to create fully functioning humanoids that could replace the rebellious Golems of the past and help the families of the Boiling Isles! That's right it was your ancestor Abra Blight who created the first Abominations!"

The murals that followed depicted Abominations being created, as well as other Blights using the Abomination goop for other purposes. "Since then the Blight family has used the Abomination ingredients to create useful things like ornaments, teacups, plates, hair-dryers, gazookles, bamboozles, and more! And we continued this proud tradition until your mother started her own Blight Industries that she could run when it should have been your father! And she did it right under our noses, I might add!"

Amity looked surprised. "Wait, dad was supposed to run the company?"

"Of course, the company has always been run by the direct descendants of Abra Blight! Alador is a born Blight, your mother just married into the family and claimed the name like she claims everything else," Destiny explained.

As they came out of the tunnel, King noticed that nearby were little violet Abomination creatures with hair shaped like Arthur's. "What are those little guys?"

"Oh, those are the Abomi-Goblins, one of my past creations!" Arthur explained. "Yes, they used to be big with the children, their own personal assistants and play things. Unfortunately, one stupid kid drowned and that scared the parents so much that we were forced to recall them all." He snorted. "Even though it wasn't the fault of my Abomi-Goblins. But in any case, they are now our servants. They're also good singers!"

"Ba goblin-da-coblin abomalong, we only exists to sing-along! De goblin-da-coblin abomalu, we have a little riddle for you!" the Abomi-Goblin sang as they suddenly danced.

"In this factory we work so hard, if you beware of the accidents you will go far!" one sang

"But a nincompoop like that skull headed rat, would slip and then go splat!" another sang, causing King to glare at it.

"But one thing you should know, and we're instructed to tell…"

"Don't go in the basement, it won't go well!" they sang together.

"I'm starting to see why they were recalled," King recalled while Amity watched the Abomi-Goblins performing tasks around the factory.

"Do you two ever leave the factory?" Amity asked her grandparents.

"Not much, your mother essentially forced us into retirement since nobody wants to buy our brand of Abominations anymore and we have little reason to go out," Arthur answered. "Though we have still been following what happens in the rest of the Isles. Now who's hungry?"

"That was quite a battle, Gwendma," Luz commented as she and Gwendolyn followed the trail of the hydra to a cave.

"Yes, I just hope that I didn't hurt Dusty's ego too much," Gwendolyn responded as she inspected the markings outside the cave, along with some bones.

"So it's not all about capturing and taming beasts, you guys tend to battle one another with your beasts as well?" Luz asked as they entered the cave.

"Yes, but it's about even more than that," Gwendolyn explained. "I joined the Beast Keeping Coven to look for a cure for your mother, but in the process I learned how to become a stronger and better witch. It challenged me, forced me to get a better understanding of the creatures that I faced… and a better understanding of myself. You don't just tame beasts, you forge mutual relationships with them. They are only your enemy if you treat them like an enemy. But if you learn to co-exist and work with them, they can sometimes become your greatest companions."

Luz nodded, thinking about what Gwen said. She used her light glyph as they moved deeper into the cave, until they came across a space that was filled with loot and treasure.

"Of course, there are other benefits to being in the Beast Keeping Coven too," Gwendolyn admitted with a smile. "You get dibs on any treasure that you find in hoards like this."

Luz whistled. "I am starting to like the idea of being in the Beast Keeping track more and more. Just Look at all of this…" She then saw something slithering behind her grandma. "Gwendma, behind you!"

Gwendolyn turned and dodged a wet tail as out of the shadows came a slithering, purple large creature with four legs, light pink fins on its back, and a long, elongated neck. It snarled at the two for entering its cave.

"REEEEEEEE!" the hydra screeched.

"Luz, try not to cut off its head!" Gwen said while preparing to battle.

"I know, pin and grab," Luz replied, extending her cambion claws.

"Not so fast!"

The two witches and the hydra stopped when a spotlight appeared out of nowhere, revealing three figures. Luz recognized them as two of the Demon Hunters and a confused looking Snaggleback.

"Prepare for trouble, make it double!" the purple haired demon hunter said.

"The hydra is ours!" Tom claimed.

"...Why am I here?" the Snaggleback asked himself.

"Great, demon hunters," Gwendolyn groaned.

"What are these guys doing here?" Luz asked.

"Demon Hunters are a thorn in the side of Beast-Keepers, often poaching beasts for profit," Gwendolyn explained.

"Hey, it's whatever pays the bills, lady," Purple stated. "We need that hydra so we can bail our boss out!"

"Yeah, and to do the job, we've used our remaining expenses… to create a hydra capturing contraption!" Tom declared, pressing a button to reveal a large floating device with claws and axes sticking out. It also had crossbows that shot harpoons and nets.

"Wait, why not use your money to bail out your boss instead of building that?" Luz questioned.

"Do you know how much it costs to bail out someone from jail?" Purple asked.

"Then why not sell that thing? I can think of a few crazies who would probably pay a lot for that thing," Luz pointed out, causing the two demon hunters to look at each other in realization.

"Well… whatever! That hydra's ours for the taking!" Tom pressed another button. "Go, Hydra-Capturing Machine!"

The floating machine flew towards the hydra, shooting out nets that trapped the hydra to the wall. But Luz used her claws to slice at the net, freeing the creature.

"Not gonna happen on our watch," Luz proclaimed.

"Indeed," Gwen agreed, holding her staff. "Now let's show them some Clawthorne spunk!"

Meanwhile, Dusty was tending to his injured beast, Cutler, and getting the webbing off of him.

"We may have lost the battle to Clawthorne, Cutler," Dusty admitted. "But if we train and work hard enough, we'll be able to beat her next time!"

"Clawthorne, you say?"

Dusty heard a new voice and turned around to see a biped demon cat girl who appeared to be older than him. She had orange locks of hair formed like a mane, along with red fur, black eyes, and fangs. She wore a Glandus uniform with orange sleeves that indicated she was from the Beast-Keeping Track. But her uniform was more torn and her tail was sticking out as well.

"Uh, yeah, Gwendolyn Clawthorne was just here along with her granddaughter, Luz," Dusty told this stranger.

"Huh, I've been wanting to meet them but unfortunately, the Clawthornes are off-limits," she said, disappointed. But then she got an idea and she grinned. "Say… would you like to have a beast battle?" she asked while filing her claws.

"Wow," Eda said as she looked around Raine's room. Currently she was in the base of operations for the Bards Against the Throne. While Raine nervously stood behind her, Eda checked out the records and posters of famous Bard musicians before her attention fell on a picture of her and Raine together when they were young.

"I remember this, it is from the night we went out to see Rats," Eda commented. "Man, we were wild kids back then."

"I'm pretty sure you're the wild one," Raine muttered with a blush.

"That I am!" Eda stated before sitting down on Raine's bed. Raine simply chose to sit by their desk. "So what's the update with the Emperor's Coven, Rainestorm?"

"Well, in the coming week I'm going to be chosen as Head of the Bard Coven," Raine answered. "And as of now, the Emperor's reach has started spreading around the Boiling Isles quicker than ever, since Belos is planning something big soon and he doesn't want anything to go wrong. They have been spreading anti-Fae propaganda like crazy, especially because of the Pleasure Island incident though they have conveniently left out all mention of your daughter and her girlfriend being the ones to stop the Coachman. But there is also the issue of the string of witch disappearances, which the Covens are really worried about. There is talk of possibly shutting down Bonesborough and the rest of the Isles if they continue, though they are afraid that could cause a riot."

"Yeah, I've heard about those disappearances," Eda replied. "A friend of my daughter's went missing recently, but luckily she's okay. Though I don't know if it has anything to do with the other disappearances or not. It could be an isolated incident."

"How is your daughter, by the way?" Raine asked.

"Pretty good, she's taken quite well to her bard classes, and is now thinking about taking Beast Keeping as well," Eda answered proudly. "Right now she is spending time with mom."

"Hey, that's great!" Raine commented, having been told about how Eda's relationship with her mother was rocky.

"Yeah, I think things with my mom are going to be okay as we move forward," Eda admitted. "Also, me and Lily's relationship is improving more with each day. And King is now looking for his father who he hopes is somewhere in the Boiling Isles…"

"His father?" Raine asked, curious.

"Yeah, remember when you first visited and I told you about how I found King?" Eda asked them. Raine nodded. "That island turned out to be King's home and apparently his father used to live there too until something happened." She looked down at her boots, sighing. "King recently learned the truth about how I found him and it did hurt him but we've promised ourselves no more secrets from now on. Little guy even called me mom once… isn't it just…" She felt Raine wiping a tear from her eye.

"Are you okay?" they asked, now sitting beside her.

"Oh, I didn't mean to be sentimental or anything," Eda replied, her hand close to Raine's. "I mean, it is just that being a foster mom is the best thing to have happened to me."

"I know and it has been good for you," Raine said as the two looked in each other's eyes. Their faces were now very close.

The two blushed and quickly looked away from each other.

"Well um, this is awkward…" Eda brushed her hair aside.

"Y-Y-Yeah," Raine responded, twiddling their fingers. "Hey, when the gang comes in, would you like to hear a rehearsal?"

"Yeah, I'd like that," Eda replied with a nod.

Back at the Blight manor/factory, Amity and King were having lunch with Arthur and Destiny.

"And that's when I told them 'Bully for you, you get a half-price for that!'" Arthur said, finishing his story. Destiny laughed as well as Amity.

"Wow, that's an interesting story, um, Grandpa," Amity commented.

"If you thought that was interesting, wait until you hear how I once got almost killed by the dust bunnies! Terrible little critters!" he said with a look of dread. "I almost lost an ear that day…"

The youngest Blight girl nodded as she noticed what was on the wall behind where her grandfather sat. It was a large portrait of the Blight family that included her grandparents when they were in their younger days. With them was a row of five children, including her father Alador in the middle. The oldest was a young boy with short brown hair, next to him was the oldest girl with long hair. On Alador's right was the second oldest boy with bushy hair, who was with his twin sister.

"Those kids in the portrait… are they my dad's… siblings?" Amity asked.

"Why yes, dear, these are your two uncles and two aunts," Destiny gestured. "From oldest to youngest: Alton, Alice, Ardon, and Addy. Your father was the youngest of the five."

"Dad never mentioned having siblings," Amity admitted.

"Ah they're still around," Arthur stated while the Abomi-Goblins came in to bring dessert. "Ah, dessert's here!"

"Abomi-dagoblin ga-ding-ga-ling, this is a warning we must-a sing!

"If you happen to see what's underground, you wouldn't like it to-"

"Hey, I didn't pay you to sing right now! Not like you need money!" Arthur scolded the abominable servants as they made their leave.

"Abomi-dagoblin da-ging-ga-loo-"

"Alright, we get it, so shut up!" King shouted at them while eating a turkey leg.

"I also have older siblings as well, Edric and Emira," Amity mentioned.

"Yes, yes, we know about them," Arthur responded dismissively. "But, we want to make this your day, our little ray of Blight shine!"

"R-right," Amity said awkwardly. "I appreciate the attention and all… but-"

"But you are a true Blight, unlike your mother who has cheapened our family name!" Arthur continued. "And we wanted you to understand just how important our family is. We made Abominations possible! They are the backbone of Boiling Isles society! There would be no Boiling Isles as it is today without us and it is our duty to continue helping the Isles and providing witchkind with our services. To serve the Isles is the responsibility of every Blight!"

Amity nodded, giving it some thought. There was something she wanted to ask them…

"Can Abominations...have souls?" Amity asked them.

Arthur and Destiny looked at Amity, then at each other. They both burst into laughter.

"Hahaha! Oh that's a good one, kiddo! But no, that is quite impossible," Arthur answered. "They are quite soulless abominations, hence the name."

Amity, however, remembered Phil. But before she could say anything, Arthur spoke up.

"By the way, I do have a proposition for you, Amity," Arthur said, while drinking his tea. "Now that you've broken off from Odalia, why don't you take over the family business? The real family business. With our help, you can put in charge and restore the Blight name back to its former glory!"

"Oh… that's sudden," Amity responded, surprised. "I don't know… my mom expected me to-"

"Ugh, Odalia," Arthur groaned. "That woman has turned Blight Industries into an arms dealing business. Abominations were meant to help people, not harm them!" His voice became soft as he spoke to Amity. "You don't want your mother to run your life just as she runs your father's, using him to advance her own status and wealth? That is what she really cares about."

"Well… she did pretty much plan out my future… and I'm not even sure if that's what I want anymore," Amity said honestly. "But I know that she still cares about me and my well being…"

"Perhaps," Arthur acknowledged. "But does care about what you want more than what she has built for herself? She runs Blight Industries as she sees fit and she runs her family as she sees fit. She is sucking both for her own benefit. The Blight family needs a new image. You can be that image, Amity."

"Wait, isn't she a little too young to run a company?" King questioned.

"Oh you're never too young," Arthur told King. "I ran this company after my father passed it on to me when I was sixteen. And Amity meets all the criteria. We have been following her progress. She has the brilliance that her father possessed, but none of the… issues that he also had. Me and Destiny agreed that it would be a shame if all that brilliance and talent was ruined or wasted by her mother."

Amity wasn't sure, though she couldn't help but feel like there was some truth to what they were saying about her parents. "I think… I'm going to have to talk to my girlfriend about it before I make this decision."

"Girlfriend? What's she like, darling?" Destiny asked.

Amity pulled up a picture of her and Luz back in Grom. "Here, this is her." She showed it to her grandparents.

"Wow, a human girlfriend! How adventurous!" Arthur declared.

"Indeed, she's quite exotic," Destiny agreed, which made Amity feel uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Luz and Gwen managed to take care of the hydra, along with the invasive Demon Hunters they had tied to their contraption

"Goodbye, Demon Hunters!" Luz said as she sent their device flying away with them tied to it. Only the Snaggleback didn't join them.

"You haven't seen the last of us!" Purple cried out.

"Yeah, I probably haven't," Luz admitted. "You Demon Hunters seem to be recurring antagonists."

"Hey, thanks for not attacking me while fighting those guys," Snaggleback told Luz and Gwen, the latter tending to a tamed hydra that now had several heads.

"No problem, sorry that you had to be pulled into this," Luz said while turning to Gwen who was patting the large serpent creature.

"It appears this one just got lost after drifting to sea," Gwen commented as the hydra purred when she scratched one of its chins. "Poor thing, you were just hiding while recovering your strength, weren't you?"

The heads of the hydra nodded and Gwendolyn used her magic to summon a pack of sea dogs, dogs that had fins and gills. "These sea dogs can guide you to safety, they're a herding pack so they can help you get back on your way," she told the hydra.

The large creature accepted the offer, following the sea dogs toward the sea. As it left the cave, one of the heads waved back at the two Clawthornes.

"Do you see what I mean, Luz?" Gwendolyn commented. "They are only your enemy if you treat them like your enemy. That is what being in Beast Keeping is all about. Not just about helping witches, but about helping the beasts as well."

Luz held up a bag of loot while her wings spread. "Uh huh, plus we got to fight Demon Hunters and take home a bunch of loot," she replied happily.

Gwendolyn chuckled. "Yes, that too."

They along with the Snaggleback flew out of the cave. On their way back they saw someone with Dusty Bringems, who along with his beast Cutler were beaten and scratched up.

"What the hell?" Luz asked in shock. The girl standing over Dusty looked up at them. "Hey! Did you do this to them?!"

"Hmm?" the girl asked. "Oh yeah, looks like I lost control again during this Beast Battle." She grinned. "But in the end, looks like another one of Hexside's top turns out to be a weakling."

Luz snarled as she landed, going up to confront the Glandus girl while Gwen tended to Dusty. "Don't worry, he's alive," Gwen said while helping him up.

"Why did you beat him up like that? What kind of beast did you use?" Luz demanded to know.

"Luz Clawthorne, right?" the girl asked. "The name's Nina Fangs, top Beast-Keeping track student at Glandus, one of the top three juniors there. I've heard a lot about you, everyone has. I should really head back now since I didn't get my chance to catch the hydra. But there is always next time." Suddenly her feet changed into a cheetah's hindlegs. "See ya around, Clawthorne!" She ran away at a super speed, leaving them all behind.

"Glandus, they always like to play it rough," Gwendolyn commented disapprovingly. "Come Luz, let's take him and his beast to the Healing Coven General, they'll be able to heal him."

Luz nodded, while her eyes narrowed in the direction Nina went. "Yeah, let's go."

"Hey, can I come with you guys? I'm late to an appointment that I scheduled with a healer," the Snaggleback spoke up.

Meanwhile, at the Owl House, Lilith was back after chasing and losing that mysterious flying object. She grumbled while taking branches out of her hair.

"What was that thing?" Lilith asked herself. "It couldn't be from the Emperor's Coven… I never saw anything like that while I was with them."

"Hoot-hoot! Visitor!" Hooty declared as he opened the door. Lilith turned to greet them and saw Odalia and Alador, much to the Clawthorne woman's surprise.

"Lilith," Odalia said simply.

"Odalia, Alador… how unexpected," Lilith said as she walked towards them.

As Odalia marched in with her arms crossed, Alador stayed outside to talk with Hooty.

"I've never seen a house guardian like this before," Alador commented, staring at Hooty in awe.

"Oh well if you want to know more, I can tell you all kinds of facts about me, Hooty, the best character!" Hooty declared.

"Fascinating…" Alador nodded.

While Hooty kept Alador busy, Odalia was looking around the house. Lilith stood by nervously. "Amity's not here right now…"

"Yes, I can see that everyone's not home," Odalia said dismissively, not looking at Lilith. "As for why we're here, I feel like we have reached an understanding with the Emperor's Coven and I believe that it's time to take my daughter home so that she can go back to her normal life."

"Oh, you're taking Amity home…" Lilith said awkwardly. She knew that she was the last person Odalia wanted to see right now. "Odalia, can we talk-"

"There's nothing to talk about, Lilith. I've made my decision and it's final." Odalia turns to Lilith, her stern look intimidating the elder Clawthorne sister. "I think she has stayed here long enough, and there's nothing you can convince me otherwise. I am her mother, not you or Eda. So it is about time that I start acting like her mother again and for her to be where she belongs."

"I know," Lilith said, rubbing her own arm. "I just want to say… I'm sorry, for everything I've done and put your family through. I'm sorry for how our last talk went down, I should never, ever let what happened to your daughter get out of hand. Apologizing to you may not erase everything I've done, you have every right to be mad at me. I know that you are her mother and I know that I don't deserve her. I don't deserve anything-"

"Stop," Odalia said to Lilith. "I am not here to guilt trip you. But I do… appreciate that you have been helping your sister and your niece take care of my daughter. And I like what you did with your hair."

Lilith looked down. "Thank you," she said.

"So if she isn't here, where is Mittens? Is she hanging out with your niece?" Odalia asked.

"Oh no, Luz is hanging out with her grandmother and Eda's meeting up with an old friend," Lilith explained.

"So she's alone?" Odalia asked, not looking happy.

"No, she's with King. They're visiting her grandparents," Lilith stated.

Odalia's eyes widened in horror. "WHAT!?" she freaked out.

"Why don't you two make yourselves comfortable here in the crystal ballroom?" Arthur told Amity and King, who were now in the family room with a large, old shaped crystal ball set up. "Destiny and I will be back shortly, it is just that there is always something in this old factory that requires our attention."

He left, leaving Amity and King alone in the room. "Well, what do you think of them?" King asked. "They certainly seem… eccentric."

"I'm not sure what to think about them," Amity admitted with a sigh. "There are certainly things that they have said which I don't like, such as calling Luz 'exotic.' They seem a bit insensitive, but they are definitely passionate about the family business and have given me stuff to think about…"

"Yeah, like how they're proposing for you to be the new head of your family's company," King mentioned, looking around. He glanced at the hallways and saw some Abomi-Goblins coming out of a door carrying empty plates as one locked the door behind them.

Curious, he walked out of the family room and Amity followed him. "King, where are you going?"

"Those Abomi-Goblins, they just came out carrying plates and it gave me a weird feeling," King replied as he tried to open the door. He noticed the lock. "Ah dang it, it's locked!"

"Quiet," Amity hushed. "Look, maybe we should just leave it alone."

"But aren't you at least curious?" King asked while Amity picked him up.

"Look, we're guests and we should try to be respectful," Amity said as she started walking away with him, only to hear the door opening behind her. She turned around. The lock was strangely gone. "Huh-what… wasn't that locked?" she asked in confusion.

"Come on, let's see what skeletons they might be keeping in there!" King jumped out of her arms and rushed through the door that led downstairs.

"King!" Amity called out as she chased after him. Behind her, the lock was dropped to the ground by Amity's shadow.

Walking down the stairs, Amity used a flame for light. "King! Come back!" she called out as she made it to the bottom of the stairs and caught up to him. "King, we shouldn't be here, we could get in trouble!"

"Grrrrrrrrr."

The two froze. "That was a suspicious growl…" King said nervously.

"Maybe they're… keeping a pet or… a new Abomination?" Amity asked, before hearing a loud burp and seeing bones fall in front of her feet. She took a step back. "What the…" She held up her flame, revealing a cage. And something was in the cage, an Abomination but… this Abomination was blue, something Amity had never seen before, and there was a label…

"Alton…" she read, which earned the Abomination's attention. The glowing yellow eyes stared at Amity's, making her back away with a yelp. The blue Abomination came forward, Amity and King looking at it in shock as they realized that this Abomination… had witch ears, hair, and a skeletal face that was a mixture of flesh and goo. Its arms had some femur bones sticking out, as its feet were less slime and more flesh. It was being restrained in golden light chains.

"AAH!" King jumped back, hitting a second cage. "Ow! Another one!"

Amity turned and shed light on the cage. It held a reddish Abomination that was similar to the blue one, but had longer hair, glowing blue eyes, and its ribs sticking out of its stomach. The Abomination had a slim figure but muck hands and feet. The label read 'Alice.'

"Raaaaaaw!" it screamed while hiding from the light.

"What the hell!? What in the actual hell!?" Amity cried out as she looked around, finding another cage. This one held a greenish Abomination with two heads that were equally mushy. It had dark circles around its glowing green eyes and skull jaws sticking out, their elongated necks sharing the same round body, while having long deformed arms and short stumps for feet. It had teeth coming out from its belly. The label over their cage read 'Ardon and Addy.'

"Alton… Alice… Ardon and Addy… no it… it can't be!" Amity looked appalled. She immediately grabbed King so they could get out of here, only for the basement lights to suddenly turn on. The two turned and saw Arthur and Destiny standing on top of the stairs.

"Amity? What in blazes are you doing down here?" Arthur asked as they came down.

"You heard the Abomi-Goblins, you're not supposed to be in the basement!" Destiny added.

"What… what is all of this!?" Amity cried out, looking panicked.

"Oh yes, I guess the cat's out of the potato sack," Arthur sighed. "Now don't freak out now, but Amity these are your aunts and uncles."

"Aunts and uncles… you mean, they're really dad's siblings!?" Amity said, shocked. "Why do they look like Abominations? What the hell did you two do to them!?"

"We didn't do anything to them, honest. This was the result of a terrible and unfortunate accident," Arthur explained. "Anton fell into the Abomi-mixture while stirring. Alice here got sprayed by hot gunk that scalded her skin and caused her to inflate into a large Abomi-berry until she popped into that! And the twins… they got fused in the tubes that led to the mixture."

"They're lucky enough to be alive," Destiny pointed out.

"Aren't there safety regulations to prevent this kind of thing from happening?" King asked.

Arthur scoffed. "Safety regulations. They just get in the way. If our children had just been more competent, then this would have never happened."

Amity's eyes widened in realization. "Oh my Titan… why didn't I see this before… I thought this place was just run down but… you two did this to them!"

"Amity, you must understand," Arthur told her as he and Destiny walked towards them. "Progress is our priority here and we couldn't let it be hindered."

"What happened is regrettable," Destiny admitted. "And so is keeping them in the basement. But if the truth was to get out, think about what would happen to the Blight name. It would be ruined beyond repair."

"I can't believe this!?" Amity called them out. "My parents may not be perfect, but they would never do anything like this to me or my siblings! Does my dad know about this?"

"No, we just told him that his siblings passed away," Arthur said while Destiny pulled out her kazoo. "Now I hate doing this, but you really leave us with no choice. We can't risk you telling others about what you've seen, so I am afraid that we can't let go until you decide to be more reasonable."

"It is a shame though, since we really did hope that we could work together and have a positive relationship," Destiny finished while holding up her kazoo.

"A kazoo? What are you going to do with that?" King questioned.

Destiny blew her kazoo and suddenly Abomi-Goblins popped out of portals on the floor, surrounding Amity and King.

"Abomi-dagoblin ga-bling-a-bell, we warned you that this won't end well." They shot out goop rope around Amity and King, trapping them. "And now you've seen what we've kept in-"

"We get it! Enough with the singing! Do you know how annoying it is!?" King cried out.

Amity used her magic to grab both the Abomination rope and the Abomi-Goblins, throwing them all back before grabbing King and running past her grandparents who were both taken by surprise.

"Abomi-Goblins, after them!" Arthur ordered.

Amity and King ran through the hall until their way was blocked by several Abomi-Goblins. When they turned back, they saw Arthur and Destiny along with more Abomi-Goblins heading toward them. Amity and King rushed through another door in the hallway, leading them to a part of the factory that was an indoor garden made out of Abominations. The trees, bushes, and even grass was made out of the goo. The Abomi-Goblins pursued Amity and King as they ran toward another ferry that they saw floating down the nearby abomi-river.

They managed to get on, Amity using her magic to start the boat and go through the tunnel. But as they sped along the tunnel, the murals actually came to life and tried to grab Amity and King. Amity used her flame magic to fight them off

"Even the paintings are alive!?" King exclaimed.

Amity burned one of the hands as it tried to grab her. "They're Abomination paint!"

"What can you not make with this stuff?!" King shouted, only for an abomi-shark to pop up out of the river. "WEH!"

Amity burned the shark, but saw the abomi-river sprouting out more sharks and hands. So she fought fire with fire as she formed a symbol with her abomination goo and pressed it, freezing up the river. She and King rushed out of the boat and slid down the frozen river.

They made it to the dock near the entrance, only to find their way blocked by Arthur who appeared along with his Abomi-Goblins and Destiny.

"Amity please, we're not going to hurt you, we'll just… keep you in a secret room where you can't tell anyone about this," Arthur said as he stepped towards her. "We promise that you will be taken care of, you are family after all."

"Then you should get your children the help they need! Tell my dad, get the rest of the Abominations Coven to look at them!" Amity shouted while using her own Abomination goo to form a swirling wave around her in defense.

"You think we need help from that good-for-nothing father of yours and that hack Darius!? The family name will be ruined if this gets out!" Arthur shouted.

"You… you two are hypocrites!" Amity shouted. "You say that the Abominations were meant to help people, but you refuse to help your own family if it might mean risking your reputation!"

"It's just the way it is, dear," Destiny said. She blew in her kazoo and several Abomi-Goblins were summoned from behind to grab Amity and King.

"No! Let me go!" Amity struggled, but was forced to her knees. Flashes of her mugging popped up in her head, "STOP!" she cried out while trying to move but the Abomi-Goblins kept her restrained. Her heart was racing as her grandparents marched forward.

"Don't resist, we're doing this for your own good," Arthur said while stroking Amity's hair. "In time we will teach you what it means to be a proper Blight. And Odalia and Alador won't be able to keep you from us."

But then they heard noises coming from outside. It sounded like… explosions.

"What is that racket?" Arthur asked as went to look out a window, only for the window to be smashed as a purple fist collided with his face. Amity, King and Destiny looked in shock as Arthur crashed to the floor, the Abomi-Goblins failing to catch him. Someone stepped through the window, surprising everyone even more.

"Dad!?" Amity exclaimed.

"Alador, what are you doing here!?" Destiny demanded to know, tending to her husband while glaring at her son.

"Taking my daughter away from here," Alador stated while Odalia and Lilith showed up behind him after having laid waste to the factory's defenses. Odalia was operating an Abomitron while Lilith was holding up glyph cards.

"Abomi-Goblins, attack them!" Destiny blew her kazoo to command them and they charged.

However, each Abomi-Goblin was blasted into a puddle by Odalia and the cannons of her Abomitron.

"Now, let go of my Amity or you're next, Destiny!" Odalia ordered and Destiny backed away with her hands up. The Abomi-Goblins did the same as they let Amity and King go.

Once Amity and King were free, Lilith used a plant glyph to tie up both Destiny and the knocked out Arthur. Amity was still shaken as her parents came up to her to check up on her.

"Amity, are you alright?" Odalia asked, checking her daughter for injuries.

"I… I'm fine," she managed to respond.

"Good, cause we're here to take you back home after all of this," Odalia said while she and Alador escorted their daughter out of the building, wanting to be as far away from this place as possible.

"Home?" Amity said while looking back at Lilith and King, who were dragging the older Blight couple out of the factory. "But what about the Clawthornes? Will I be able to see my girlfriend, Luz, again?"

"What?" Odalia questioned. "You two are back together? Since when- you know, no, no this ends here and now. You are not to see that girl again, Mittens."

Amity halted, "What? No, no you can't do that! You can't decide who I hang out with anymore!"

"Odalia, maybe we should-" Alador tried to intervene.

"Look, Amity," Odalia cut off her husband as she scolded her daughter. "Hanging out with the Clawthornes just brings nothing but trouble, I see that now. They weren't there when you decided to come visit this unsafe factory run by your horrible grandparents, you are lucky that we came by the Owl House when we did or else this could have gone so much worse! You are also lucky that we can tolerate Willow, but we will not let you go out with the Clawthorne girl after what she put you and our family through!"

"What she… no, I'm the one at fault here! It was my choice to rescue her and her family from their execution!" Amity stated.

"Because of her you openly went up against the Emperor's Coven, your future-"

"Well fuck the Emperor's Coven!" Amity shouted, shocking her mother and father. "Whatever Belos made you promise, all he's interested in is control!"

"You take that back, young lady!" Odalia argued. "You could get in serious trouble saying those things!"

"Odalia, please just let it be…" Lilith tried to step in, but Odalia snapped at her.

"I don't need your second opinion!" Odalia shouted. "I told you a long time ago that your sister would hold you back! And I was right, because look at everything you gave up while defying the Emperor! Everything that you ended up losing because of your sister!"

"I couldn't let them hurt my family, Odalia!" Lilith argued.

"Well then maybe you shouldn't have cursed Eda in the first place!" Odalia countered, which Amity took notice of.

"What?" Amity whispered, confronting her mother. "You knew that Lilith cursed Eda?"

Odalia realized that she slipped up. "U-Um, well… it-it was… well you see, Amity…"

"Wait, did you have anything to do with cursing Eda?" Amity's question startled Odalia and Alador raised his eyebrow at Amity's accusation.

"It… it's not like I was the one who cursed her…"

Amity's eyes narrowed at her mother. "You did have something to do with it, didn't you?"

"…Alright fine, but all I did was suggest it to Lilith, okay? Neither of us knew it would be permanent," Odalia revealed, causing Alador to gasp while Amity was silent for a second.

"You… you helped ruin Eda's life… because that is the kind of witch you are." Amity muttered as her hair's shadow covered her eyes. "You see someone with potential and then you exploit them for your own personal gain. You did it to Lilith, to dad, to me…"

"Look Amity, I was just trying to help Lilith get the future that she wanted. I don't know what your grandparents said to you, but I helped him when they gave up on him when they didn't meet their standards. I helped him start his own life free of them. And right now I am just trying to do what is in your best interests…"

"My best interests? Or just what is in your best interests!?" Amity shouted at her.

"Can't you see I'm doing this for the family?" Odalia tried to confront her daughter, but Amity backed away. "You're a Blight and that means-"

"Oh, I know all about what being a Blight means!" Amity declared, glaring at her grandparents. "And right now you sound just like them! If being a Blight means being selfish and screwing over others for your own benefit then I want nothing to do with this family name and its legacy! I renounce being a Blight!" Her eyes flashed pink, followed by a sudden burst of magic that knocked Odalia down to the ground. While she was not hurt, Odalia was about just as shocked as Alador, Lilith and King.

"Amity…" Alador looked concerned for his daughter as he saw her hair stand up.

Amity's hair rose up as if it was waving. It looked like Abomination goop while Amity's eyes shone bright pink. Her anger was still apparent, but instead of unleashing it on her mother she instead turned with a hateful glare to the old Blight factory her grandparents ran. Purple tears oozed from her eyes as she raised her hands up, followed by a quaking noise.

The Abomi-Goblins, the abominate-forest, the purple river and the vats, along with everything else made out of Abominations started to rise up and flood the interior of the factory. In a few moments the factory exploded into a burst of Abomination goop. Alador managed to shield everyone with his magic, but Amity continued to wreck the factory from within until it was nothing but rubble.

"Amity…" Lilith whispered, surprised by her goddaughter's power.

"What was that?" Odalia asked in shock, having never seen a witch's power go up like that. She tried to read her daughter's aura using her oracle magic, but her aura… didn't match her family's aura. "No…"

Once Amity's hair changed back to normal, she took a step back. She held her head as she looked tired, taking deep breaths. When she opened her eyes, the pink glow in them remained. She looked around and saw the damage she had done. She then looked down at her own hands… and ran off.

"Amity!" Odalia called out to her daughter. She was about to chase after her, but was stopped by her husband.

"Odalia, let her be," he told her, causing her to look at him.

"What?!" Odalia exclaimed. "Alador, she still needs-"

"You heard what she said, Odalia," Alador cut her off before turning to Lilith and King. "You two go after her, we'll keep an eye on them." He indicated his parents.

Lilith nodded sadly and got King on her staff. "I'm sorry it turned out like this," she said while flying after Amity.

After seeing them off, Odalia turned to her husband. "Alador, I-"

"Once this is all settled, we're going to have a talk back home," Alador told her, causing his wife to look surprised. But then they heard something moving in the rubble of the destroyed factory and they turned to see what it was.

"Mother… what are those?" Alador asked as he saw the abomi-people that were his siblings.

"Amity! Please, where are you?" Lilith called out as she and King searched the woods.

"Look!" King pointed to a tree, where they saw a familiar lavender-haired girl burying her face in her arms while sitting down. From the looks of things, she was having another breakdown.

"Thank goodness you didn't go far, are you alright Amity?" Lilith asked as they came over to her.

"Why…" Amity mumbled. "Why didn't you tell me that my mother had something to do with Eda's curse?"

Lilith paused, she could tell how hurt her goddaughter was. She looked down and sighed. "Because your family had suffered enough because of me and I did not want to give the idea that I was trying to shift the blame. Regardless of who gave me the idea, I still was the one who cursed Eda."

"Yet she's still part of the reason Eda is a wild witch," Amity pointed out as she lifted her head, her eyes still pink. "Eda has been so good to me, which includes letting me sleep in her home. But how can I face her now that I know my own mother played a part in cursing her?"

Lilith wouldn't have it, she knelt down next to Amity and patted her hand. "Amity, listen to me. Whatever your mother did, you have nothing to do with her sins. Her actions are her own, not yours. I understand that. Eda and Luz will understand that. But do you understand that?"

Amity sniffled and gave Lilith a nod.

"And do you… understand the full extent of what you have done?" Lilith asked her and Amity nodded again.

"What? What has Amity done?" King questioned.

"She has become nameless," Lilith explained to him. "Names hold power, but Amity has spoken from the heart and renounced her family name. This means that she isn't a Blight anymore, severing her connection to them and their magic. But something like this… it can't be easily undone."

"What about what happened with the factory?" Amity asked. "I have never done anything like that before where I didn't cast a single spell circle or use a single glyph. I was just so angry and I needed a target for my anger, so I just wished that dumb factory would fall… and it did." She looked up fearfully at Lilith. "What is happening to me?"

"I don't know," Lilith admitted. "But we can figure this out together." She offered her hand and Amity accepted it. After Amity was helped up by Lilith, the blue haired Clawthorne was surprised when the young witch girl embraced her.

"Lilith… can you take me back home?" Amity asked and Lilith nodded to her.

"Yes, let's go home."

Eda was waiting outside the Owl House when Luz and Gwen showed up. The three talked about their day, Eda listening to Luz about the adventure she had with her 'Gwendma.' Things lightened up until Lilith returned with Amity and King. The others noticed the three's upset expressions.

"Lilith, what happened?" Eda asked her.

"Edalyn, there's something you should know…"

Lilith explained to Eda that on the day before she cursed her, Odalia gave her the idea. Lilith also explained how Amity had made the declaration to disown her family name. Eda, Luz, and Gwen were all shocked by this.

Amity lowered her head, not wanting to look up at them. But then Luz went to hug her girlfriend, and Eda joined in on the hug as well. Tears flowed as Amity hugged the two back warmly.

Amity Blight died that day, but Amity herself was alive and well.

In Luz and Amity's room, Amity laid miserably in bed while Luz sat next to her.

"I'm sorry that you had to go through that, Amity. I should've been there with you and King," Luz told her, patting her back.

"It's fine," Amity responded, turning her head to face Luz. "Are my eyes still pink?"

"Yeah," Luz confirmed, laying next to her. "But don't worry. We will help you learn what this is and how to deal with it."

Amity just sighed. "This is probably for the best. I don't think I would be able to stand living in my old home since my parents are now willing to do anything to stay in Belo's good But that would mean leaving Ed and Em behind…"

"Hey, I'm sure they can handle themselves. But we can always bail them out just in case," Luz suggested.

Amity smiled slightly. "Yeah, I just know mom's going to be hard on them. I just hope they understand." She gave a sigh, while turning her head so she was looking up at the ceiling, "I guess that I am starting a new chapter of my life now, one where I am finally my own witch free to do what I want."

Luz smiled and offered Amity a fist bump. "Bad Girls Coven?"

Amity nodded and returned the fist bump. "Bad Girls Coven for life."

"Hoot-Hoot!" Hooty popped up through the window, startling the girls. "Luz! You got a guest!"

"Hooty, I swear!" Luz ranted at the house guardian, getting up along with Amity.

Luz walked over to the front door, grabbing the knob and pulling it open. "Alright, who decided to… drop… by?"

Her eyes widened and her jaws dropped.

"Hello Luz," said Camila Noceda, alive and in the flesh for the first time in years.
