Diana was dreaming, or rather, she was reliving a dark memory she had tried to bury deep inside her for so long. The recollection rushed forth like a broken dam, overwhelming her with its vividness.
In the memory, she was just a young girl, watching helplessly as three men held her mother down. Three other men stood nearby, one of them with a huge belly casting a shadow over them all.
"Philip, this is the punishment for breaking the law of the kingdom," the first man said with a cruel laugh. Diana could only see his shadow, but she could tell he had a huge belly.
Her father, with his arms bound behind him, closed his eyes and sighed as if resigned to his fate.
"Do whatever you want," he said calmly.
"Oh? Are you sure?" the man with the huge belly sneered.
"If sacrificing my wife and my daughter is a way for me to escape this situation, then it's a small price to pay," her father replied, his words cutting through Diana's heart like a knife.
