Hunting Together

Inside a room, Mu Yue and Xiao Yan are talking together, planning on what they should do on the following days. Mu Yue through talking with Xiao Yan felt that she doesn't harbor any malicious intention against her and accepted Xiao Yan as a friend.

"Mu Yue, there is a large forest on the north side of this city which are inhabited by beasts. We could go there and hunt some beast parts to sell at the Hunter Association."

"Hunter Association?"

"It's one of the five major organizations that are related to cultivators. The Hunter Association, Alchemist Guild, Blacksmith Guild, Array Guild, and the Treasure Pavilion. The Hunter Association deals with requests that can be accepted by the cultivators. They are also a good buyer of materials as they will not cheat anyone. Their hunters can also serve as mercenaries.

The minimum requirement to register as a hunter would be to become a Foundation Establishment Cultivator but Qi Condensation Cultivators can still sell their materials to them."

Mu Yue listened to Xiao Yan's explanation. The information that Xiao Yan provided was extremely helpful to her as she has just begun cultivating.

After talking and resting at night. The two girls decided to go around the city and buy the items they are going to use when traveling and hunting beast. The items include emergency rations, a tent, and information about the forest which they put on their storage rings.

"With this, we should be prepared to hunt in the forest. We will stay there for at least a week before going back unless something happened." Xiao Yan said as the two started traveling to the north of the city.

It took around half an hour for the two to reach the forest. They are planning to hunt on the outermost layer of the forest where only those beasts that can be defeated by Qi Condensation Cultivators can be found.

"Xiao Yan, what is your combat profession?" Mu Yue asked. This information will be useful to determine how the two should cooperate.

"Oh me? I am a Fire Spell Cultivator. I can cast basic tier 1 spells such as Fire Wall, Fire Ball, and Fire Bolt." Xiao Yan then explained what each spell do.

'Fire Wall' creates a wall of fire, tho not possessing defensive capability, it will hinder the enemies' advance. 'Fire Ball' and 'Fire Bolt' are fire spells that throw projectiles to the enemy. Fire Ball explodes on impact while Fire Bolt damages the enemy on a single point.

"What about you Mu Yue?"

"I'm a Sword Cultivator. I can fight up close as well as control my sword from afar but it will leave me vulnerable to enemy attacks. I was also planning to learn some spells but I do not have anyone to teach me." Mu Yue said.

"I wish I can teach you however we have different elements. Learning spells would require manuals. Let's talk on the way while we look for beasts to hunt. We should first try and fight a Tier 2 beast to get used to working together before looking for stronger ones." The two then entered the forest and searched for prey.

They quickly found a suitable target. Xiao Yan then said, "Mu Yue, I will be the first to attack as spells require time to create. Quickly follow up with an attack after mine."

With now on their positions, Xiao Yan then started the attack.

"Fire Bolt"

A bolt of fire was launched toward the Tier 2 beast. This beast resembles a boar and was attacked from its blind spot, which resulted in it being hit.

Mu Yue quickly dashed towards the boar. As the boar looked at the direction of the attack, it saw a sword slash towards its neck. The boar moved away which made the slash to land on its body.

The boar then tried to tackle Mu Yue. She quickly evaded to the left and launched an attack on its body.

"Rain Strike"

Multiple sword thrusts reached the body of the boar. The boar was knocked away and is now bleeding due to its multiple wounds. Realizing that it will be killed, the boar tried to run away.

"Fire Wall"

Xiao Yan quickly released a spell and a wall of fire appeared in front of the boar. Before the boar was able to change its direction, a sword quickly pierces its head.

"Your flying sword skill is good Mu Yue." Xiao Yan then walked towards the boar.

"Same to you Xiao Yan, the placements of your spells are well done." Mu Yue complimented back. She then approached the boar and took the sword. She slashes towards the ground and the blood on the sword was removed.
