Chapter 1

"A red sun rises, blood must have been spilled here last night." karlon says as he goes through the pile of ashes and burned bodies on the border of the Woodland wolfpack's clearing.

His statement casts a dark shadow on the faces of the rest of the search party

"Alpha Klaudius' hairpin," he mutters more to himself than to his group of travelers.

"This locket, I know it, it is badly burned but I can recognize it anywhere," Karlon says again as he rummages his fingers through a badly burned chain pendant.

"Luna Marietta's locket, she had pictures of her pups in there, the Luna is gone too," Karlon says as he tries hard to not let his tears drop, he can't let his sentinel group see their leader weak and weeping, Alpha Klaudius woul be turning in his grave if he did that, but now he does not even have a grave, he has been piled together with the rest of his pack like a commoner.

Karlon fears, and, he knows his group does too, what he might find next in the pile of ashes and burned bodies.

Just ask Karlon had feared there was more bad news, one of his sentinels had found necklaces belonging to the three sons of Alpha Klaudius. The first son Klaudius jr. Was gifted a necklace with a little forest pendant dangling at the end, a symbol of the Woodlands pack, he was next in line to be Alpha of the pack. The second son had been gifted a necklace with a long serpent shaped viking ship pendant dangling at the end to celebrate their Scandinavian heritage, the young pup was even named Leif after the great viking explorer, Leif 'the Lucky' Ericson. The third son Erling was gifted by Alpha Klaudius, a necklace with a silver bullet pendant dangling at the end, to signify that he was unkillable.

"Junior my boy, Leif, my boy was not so lucky this time, Erling, young pup Erling they finally probed your father's wrong," cried Karlon as he grabbed the Forest, Viking ship and silver bullet pendants respectively.

Karlon the sentinel of the Woodlands werewolf pack was away on official duty for the Alpha of the pack, Klaudius.

Alongside his group of sentinels, he was able to escape the great invasion that took the life of Alpha Klaudius of the Woodland pack, his Luna Marietta, and his three sons, leaving the Woodland pack without an heir and the rest of the pack in shambles, leaving with no choice but to succumb to servitude and swear allegiance to Vladius the terrible.

The search party stare at each other with blanck eyes

Vladius the Terrible had been plundering Wolfpack after Wolfpack from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast, a powerful sage who was once a werewolf from the Silverback pack of Minnesota. His father had dabbled in dark sorcery and was banished from the Silverback pack.

"Vladius was introduced to dark sorcery by his old father, it corrupted his heart and filled his mind with only one thing; a lust for power, the more power he acquired, the more power he lusted after, until it drove him mad and caused his fur to go dark and he began to grow horns." Said Karlon to the rest of his group.

"The age of our pack is at its twilight, our numbers are dwindling, we have to stick together and try to survive and help each other no matter what."

"It's over for us, we don't even have a female to continue our race, where's the Alpha's daughter, she's nowhere to be found," said one of the sentinels in frustration.

"We need to hold on to hope, that is all we have, we should not be quick to cast away hope, for the young Beta may still be alive somewhere..." an old Elder wolf said before being immediately interrupted by another sentinel.

"If hope could do anything, we would not be looking at the sun rise with the blood of our brothers and sisters, if Alpha Klaudius' sons were killed, why do you think the young Beta daughter would?"

The disagreement throws the group into a frenzy, Karlon is worried about the future of the Woodland park. He must find a way to continue his race, he must find the lost princess.

"Vladius has plundered most of the packs up the east coast, we head south soldiers,"

"He's coming for us next, Vladius the terrible is coming for us next, none can hide from him, he will get us all, he will conquer us all, we are all going to die," a sentinel cried out incessantly.

"Somebody shut him up please, before I do it myself." Karlon said , another sentinel standing close to the crying sentinel draws his claws and slashes him on the throat, blood gushes out of his half open neck, he stands at the spot lifeless, blood flowing out of his arteries like a malfunctioning fountain.

Karlon makes his way through the woods, the rest of the group follow suit leaving the sentinel who stood dead with bkdily fluids gushing out of him, he finally falls to the ground with a loud thud. None of the members of the group even flinch or look back.

"We find the princesss or we head south to California?" An Elder asks Karlon, "our only hope of survival, of continuing our race, khr pack, lies in the hands of the young princess, we set out in search for her," Karlon replies.

"But where do we start from to look for the princess?" The elder asks again, who knows Vladius the terrible may be on our trails, we need to move south as fast as possible, for all we know we may just be the last of the woodland werewolves, we have to prepare ourselves first.

Karlon gives no response, no even looked at the elder. He gnashes his fangs and snaps his claws then says.

"Spread out and find fuel, get a fire started, we camp here tonight, then we leave before sunrise tomorrow.
