Train

"You'll be ok?" My father, Xenophilius Lovegood, is gazing at me with a concerned look in his golden eyes. "Yes, Daddy, for the last time, I'll be alright." I reply to ease his unsettled mind. He hands me my trunk without a word and, never speaking, assists me in heaving onto the Hogwarts Express. But just as I'm about to go finds a compartment, he calls after me: "Luna, take care of yourself, won't you?"

"Of course."

"Owl me!"

"Ok, Daddy, I promise on the horn of the Crumple-Headed Snorkak!"

"Thank you my darling girl-"

And that is the last I see of him as the train pulls away to new adventures and a certain school in a castle.

Padding along the lush carpet, I peer into occupied rooms, trying desperately to discover an empty one. Finally! I sit down on the sofa. A redhead girl looks in. She sees the Quibbler lying open on my lap and her her opinion of me is instantly fully formed. The kid's wide genuine smile spontaneously transforms into a cruel smirk. "Weirdo," she sneers. "C'mon girls, let's go find a good compartment."

"Ginny!" A boy with equally ginger hair, clearly her brother, chases after her. "How has the little frick-wit managed to make so many friends so quickly!" He moans underneath his breath. "Ronald!" I can barely see the Griffindor who shouts that, hidden under her chestnut bush as she is. Then, I see him... the Boy Who Lived. Just a flash, then alone. Again. I'm used to it. Hell, I like it. I pick up the distrusted mag and settle down, already in uniform. I spread my robes over my body to cover the bruises I hide from the world.

Suddenly, the Hogwarts Express slows down and I'm jolted out of my reverie. Great. Sorting time.

I hate rewriting Sorting ceremonies so imagine and I'll see you in the Ravenclaw common. We might get a mini-mini-flashback but stay tuned!
